My original ressie was for the Caribbean Beach, but because of the renovations, was transferred to the Polynesian (garden view) for my grown-up trip. This is the first time I've stayed here (ate at O'Hana's last September, yum, but never got to tour the resort). I'm looking for a non-smoking room, with a balcony and a great view if possible. Would like to stay away from the luau area. Trying to get my room request fax ready, so that it will be set to go when the time comes. What would you consider the best building? Any specific rooms you would suggest? Are the rooms fairly quiet or can you hear people outside your room or next door to you (thin walls?)? How far is Tahiti from the GCH or the TTC? Is it easier to walk to the TTC to grab the monorail to EPCOT or grab the monorail at the resort to the TTC, then transfer monorails? How far and safe is the walk between the TTC and the Polynesian? Can you walk from the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian or Contemporary? Where is the best place to view the fireworks from the Polynesian? How is the food at the Kona Cafe? How is the bus transporation to MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom & Downtown Disney? Do the buses share with other resorts or are they direct to the parks & DTD? I want to take a ton of pictures & videos of the resorts. I'd love to see the grand suite at the Polynesian, as well as the Victorian & Walt Disney suite at the Grand Floridian. Do they give tours of these resorts/rooms? What about viewing tower rooms at the Contemporary? I'm arriving the day after Thanksgiving. How packed is the resort going to be? When it is this busy, does the room controller even look at requests or just put people in where there is an empty room? What I mean is should I send in a room request or just hope for the best? Sorry this is so long and thank you in advance for all your help!

Check out Tikiman's link... http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/index.html

I probably didn't attach the link properly, but Steve has ALL the info on the Poly. I'll be there the same time... same as you, I was booked at the CBR and had to be relocated... I'm leaning towards either Tokelau or Tahiti longhouses (right now anyways)

From what I have read on other threads.. it will be quite crowded Thanksgiving & that weekend. I'm arriving Wednesday morning, & leaving Sunday afternoon. You may be able to tour some of the other resorts, but most will probably be booked full or at least almost full.

I hope this is some help to you. Maybe we catch up with each other at the Poly!! :)

Terk will you do a trip report when you get back? We have always stayed at WL but we are wanting to try some place different. I hope you will do one so I can hear your opinion. Thanks

The Tahiti building is nice and it is a close, safe walk to the TTC. I thought that we were about 1/2 way between the GCH and the TTC. It maybe took 5-7 minutes to walk each place, but I never actually timed it. We never heard anyone in the next room or even in the halls. It was very quiet. I walked from the spa at the Grand Floridian back to the Tahiti, it is also a nice, safe walk. You can view the fireworks from the beach. It's actually a fantastic view! We weren't too excited about the food at the Kona Cafe, but others seem to love it. The only time we took a bus from the resort was the night we went to Downtown Disney, we actually had to wait about 30 mintues. Normally the busses are shared with other resorts, but since the bus was full and late, we went "express" to DD. You can always catch busses from the TTC too, which we did. We were there in July (for our honeymoon) and had the best vacation! We loved it and are planning on going back soon.

Thanks for the info Cord & Jeanny. Boots, will definitely do a trip report when I return. Actually have it put on my daily to do list in my passporter. Anybody else have suggestions? Tikiman?

We stayed in Niue (sp?) and it was excellent. Right out the door from the great ceremonial house and right near the quiet pool. I would highly recommend it.

We like Tokelau and we usually request a room close to the beach end of the building. We have been very happy with our locations. Have agood trip it is my favorite hotel.

I would have to recommend the Tahiti building. We stayed there last year and absolutely loved it. I believe the rooms are the largest in this building. You are very close to the TTC (maybe 3 min. walk) making it a good option to get the monorail to go to Epcot and the walk to GCH is about 5 min. The walk is amazing though especially at night with the tiki torches burning. Made the walk many times of day alone or with small children and never felt unsafe. You can sit on the beach in front of Tahiti and watch the fireworks. You will love the Poly no matter what building you stay in.
