Just booked a trip to Cali for august staying at HoJo never stayed here before and wanna know all about. This only my 2nd trip ever to the DLR as i am WDW vet. All info on HoJo and DLR is appericated thank you.

We just got back from our trip last Sunday. We stayed at Hojos and I have to say, I was VERY impressed. The staff was ultra nice and helpful, the property was very manicured and pleasant, the rooms were nice and the beds were unbelievably comfortable. I have NEVER came back to a room during a hotel stay and had it be so clean/organized. Housekeeping really went above and beyond and everything was super tidy when we arrived back after a day at the park.

The only issue we had, and it was our own fault for not looking...is that we did not discover there was a second pool area until the day we left. :headache: Kids were upset as they got bored with Castaway Cove (?) They are 10 and 11 year old girls...go figure. But again, we should have been more observant.

Hope that helps!~ ;)

Sorry that you missed out on the pool. :-( When we checked in, they gave us a map of the grounds with our building circled so that we could easily find it. The pools, etc. were on that map too.

For tips on DL for WDW vets and great tips on maximising Fastpass and nearly everything else about DL, check out the sticky thread at the top of the forum.
Highly recommend Hydroguy's tips - they worked brilliantly for us earlier this month!
Hojo's has a great forum on their website, where people ask anything and everything about the hotel and helpful staff memebers respond: wehre's the nearest supermarket, how much is a cab from? to Hojo's, what sort of coffee maker is in the rooms, etc etc etc!
We stayed 9 days there and found it great, so I'm happy to answer any questions also.
Have fun!

I'm glad you mentioned the second pool area...that was going to be my number one question...Also wondering about the walk to the parks...How does it compare to CCI? We always stay at CCI for budget trips, but are thinking of Hojo for the pool, waterplay, the price and the room size...Are the rooms bigger that Candy Cane? And, do they have better room rates? Any info is appreciated. thanx.

Yes, the rooms are bigger than the CCI.

The walk is about the same but CCI has their own personal shuttle.

The HoJo many times has the amazing Entertainment book rates. CCI almost never has any specials - at least I have never found them.

We have stayed at both. Both are nice. HoJo is it for us anymore because of the great rates.

HoJo has the better pool - but if you like just a pool (as opposed to a water play area) the CCI's pool is nice.

Both have very nice grounds.

I will add to the list if I think of anything else.

HoJo is a favorite on these boards for many of the reasons mentioned above. Keep an eye on their website here: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14 to learn about their amazing 50% off Entertainment book rate. Currently there are no dates listed for August, but they frequently add dates as it gets closer and they see what their bookings are like. Also, if you call them directly and talk to IN HOUSE reservations, they will give you 15% off the rate you booked at (or at least tell you the absolute best deal they can give you) for mentioning the DISboards. They are really the nicest hotel in walking distance on Harbor, in the opinion of many.

They are about 5 minutes up the crosswalk from the hotels directly across the street, but it's well worth the extra 5 minutes. There's a shortcut if you cross Harbor there at Manchester and walk down on the west side of Harbor, thereby avoiding all the foot traffic from the other hotels. Here's a map of the shortcut; you turn into the north side of the shuttle driveway, right next to the bus stop. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=88663

HoJo has free parking and free internet access. They have a sundries and snack shop in building one that has an AMAZING variety of food items you can have in your room-- anything you'd want for breakfast, snacking and more.

BTW, like the previous poster, I recommend you read Hydroguy's tips: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483 He has several threads that are specifically for WDW vets doing DL for the first time. :thumbsup2

Have a great time planning! :)

Just wanted to say I agree with everyone. I am a bit of hotel snob. I wasn't sure of what I was going to get at such a cheap rate, but it turned out great!

Happy Planning!

Thanx for the great info...the shortcut is a good thing to know about. And being as we are going in july, we do want the pool, and water play area. I'm looking at the package 5 nights for the price of 3...seems like a good deal.

I have good and bad. We were there for only one night so I am bummed. They gave us room 1119. It was a very bad room. :( The pipes were SO INCREDIBLY LOUD, that when the people above us used their shower toilet or sink, it sounded like a jack hammer was IN the room. It was very very bad, The front desk didn't believe us and insisted that it was traffic. It 100% was the pipes. I will try it there again but not sure that my mom will. But I will not stay in that area again. The grounds are beautiful and Castaway Cove was AMAZING!!! I wished for my son that we would be there longer. But then again, we would have been sleep deprived. :(
