1st time flying

Just to add to this: If your child has a favorite blanket or toy, prepare them for having to put it through the scanner with the carry ons. The time I took my GD on her first , she had a favorite stuffed green bunny rabbit that she couldn't sleep without. We had packed bunny in her carry on and I'd warned her the bag had to go through the scanner, while we had to walk through another scanner. However, apparently she didn't understand as well as I thought she did. Just as her carry on started to go through, she started screaming, "They're killing bunny, they're killing bunny" and tried to jump on the belt to follow her carry on through. Thankfully everyone else seemed to think it was hilarious. I was ready to strangle her.:rotfl: Once we got her though the scanner and grabbed our carry ons, she insisted on opening the carry on to make sure bunny was safe. She grabbed him, saying, "Oh I thought they'd killed you, I thought I'd lost you".:rotfl: Funny now, but not at the time.:headache::rolleyes1:rotfl:
I had to laugh at that one. That is so funny. I have a picture of that in my head now. Thanks for the laugh. :yay:

if you do have any liquids or gels in your carry on, triple check they're 3oz or less and put them all in a 1 gallon ziplock bag.

This was a great post, but just one detail needs correcting. The baggie in your carryon can be 1 Quart, not 1 gallon.

Oh, thanks for catching that. I pulled out my normal travel ziplock and apparently I've been flying out of forgiving airports because it's a full gallon. Fixing that before my next flight!

And at 17 your princess is going to be a fantastic flyer. I was picturing a kid closer to 5 and fearing a bit for you. Hopefully no worries about her diving into the scanner for her rabbit. :) And that story was hysterical and precious - I can so see a little kid doing that.

some great info given. Wanted to add, check with your airline or the person coordinating your make a wish flight, what special arrangements if any have been made. Sometimes the airline does special things, like having a person help you with check in, security and stays with you until you are about to board. I know with my airline the flight crew are emailed informing them that there is a make a wish child going to be onboard the flight so we can make sure everything is extra special (not sure what happens "ground side")

Thanks I did talk to the lady that is in charge through make a wish for our make a wish trip and she did tell me someone from make a wish will meet us at the airport. so that relaxed me some. :yay:
