Ok after a very bad trip with our new son we decided to fly to Disney in January instead of making the 16 hour drive.

Trip details
2adults
1 infant
1 4 year old
1 7 year old

I know that DME will take our bags that we check but will we need to carry onto the bus our carry ons or can they go under the bus on the way to the resorts.

What happens to the stroller

Will the infant be ok on our laps on the bus or do we need a seat

I also found garden grocer so we can have breakfast items and baby supplies sent to the hoetel since we won't have a car

What else do I need to think about

I know that DME will take our bags that we check but will we need to carry onto the bus our carry ons or can they go under the bus on the way to the resorts. DME will take care of delivering your bags as long you put the yellow DME tags on them before you check your bags at your home airport. Small carry ons go on the bus, larger ones like roll-a-boards will go under the bus which is where the stroller will go as well.

What happens to the stroller under the bus with luggage

Will the infant be ok on our laps on the bus or do we need a seat no car seats allowed on DME or Disney buses so on your lap is the only way to go. There are no seatbealts on either

See red above.

Thanks and I know maybe for the whole trip. When we asked this relative to go with us we didnt have the baby but now we added a baby so it should be interesting.

I don't know what airline you are flying, but make sure to pre-purchase your seat assignments (not applicable if you are flying SWA) so that you will not risk being separated.

Have a great trip:goodvibes!

At the airport, your stroller will be gate checked and put under the plane at the boarding gate. You need to wait for the stroller at your arrival gate when you get to Orlando.

Become familiar with TSA rules so you don't get caught up at security.

What airline are you flying? You will want to have entertainment items for the kids. Maybe get a surprise DS game that they can enjoy or something like that. If you are flying JB make sure you have the headphones before you get on board. That way they can start watching the tvs while on the ground and not have to wait until you reach cruising altitude to get them from the FAs.

Airport:

Allow plenty of time. The makeup of your crew calls for an easy going trip to the airport. Mom and dad should wear shoes that come off and go on easily and dress so that the only thing you have to remove at security are your shoes. I wear crocs. Right now, they've started allowing children under 12 to keep their shoes on. Before that my dd wore velcro sneakers and I put my son's shoes in my carry-on until we were at the gate.

I also pack toiletries in checked luggage to avoid having to remove that quart sized toiletry bag at security, but that is a personal thing. We get through faster than some single travelers. An easy folding stroller is helpful.

Ear pressure:

Bottle or paci for the 1 year-old. Note: going up didn't bother my son, but coming down was a different story. If the baby is sleeping do not wake him to drink. My son was asleep on our last flight and the landing didn't bother him.

Gum or candy for the 4 and 7 year-olds. I had purchased "ear planes" which are ear plugs, but am not sure if they work because my daughter refused to wear them at 4 and I never tried again. Last month though, my daughter actually rolled up a little tissue and put it in each ear and said it helped a lot.

Entertainment

Quiet toys, acitvity book with triangular crayons (don't roll away) for the 4 and 7 year-old in each child's backpack. My dd colored our whole flight the first time and I didn't hear a peep out of her. There's lots of free printables on line and you can get Disney Themed ones.

My son liked his regular stuff, his teethers and such.

Snacks, whatever their favorite non messy snacks are, I'd definitely have it.

DME is great. There'll be a video going as long as there's no technical difficulties. The pp is right, no car seats. It's a motor coach. You keep your carry-ons and the stroller goes underneath. My son was 10 months and I wore him on DME or held him.

Have fun

ETA: Read the web pages of each airport you will encounter on your trip particularly your home airport if you're driving there and MCO to check for anything that might have an effect on your trip.

Thanks. Great ideas about the coloring pages and the ear pressure. I've flown in the past but that was pre kids so I never gave much thought to it.

We are on a non stop us air flight out of Washington dc so it's only about 2.5 hours plus I think the novelty will help a bit. I booked our seats so we sit 3 in one row and the 4th across the isle, baby on lap.

Thanks again got to go print some Disney pages can't wait.

Oh and the 4 year old doesn't know the 7 year old is coming with us so that will be an activity all in itself as they don't get to see each other often.

Carry on items must be brought to the welcoming area and, if not small, put under the bus. For arrivals into Orlando before 10 PM, Magical Express will take care of items that you check at your home airport. If some of them don't have yellow tags, see the CM at the DME welcoming area to show him/her your baggage claim checks.

What happens to the stroller?
If you checked it for claiming at the carousels, it can be handled by DME. If you gate checked it and also it is returned at the plane door upon arrival then you must carry/wheel it down to the DME area and put it under the bus.

Will the infant be ok on our laps on the bus or do we need a seat?
No car seat is needed on DME. Optionally and if space permits, you may seat him next to you instead of on your lap. If you brought a car seat for the plane or for later use in a car or taxi, that goes under the bus.
Tips are appreciated for all baggage and stroller handling with the exception of DME airplane to room delivery for which you are not expected to be there.

When you fly with kids it is always a good idea to take one set of clothes in your carryon in case of accidents

If you have valuables or meds or just some stuff in your carry-on that you need to have on the airplane with you, it is best to put it in a bag that will fit underneath the seat in front of you. Overhead space is at a premium, with many people trying to avoid checking bags. Many times there is not enough overhead space for everyone, so there is a small chance a larger carry-on would have to be gate checked. Put your must haves into your smaller carry-on bag.

Also, pack a few snacks for the airplane. We like to take a few munchies along, such as granola or candy bars.
