So my wife, Daughter and I are going on are first trip in may.I just booked are reservation and the Lady said to make sure I picked up My first Time button and wear it because who knows what might happen. What was she talking about?

There are buttons that they have at the front desks at the resorts and at Guest Relations at the parks that say that it's your first time at WDW. I don't know anything specific that happens, but they are a great conversation starter for CM's, characters and servers.

Have a great time! :)

They have buttons for all kinds of things (birthdays, anniveriseries, etc.) Wearing a button you get special attention. On my birthday they sang "happy bday" on the jungle cruise, free desserts, stickers, and a lot of wishes from CM's and guests. Makes you feel a lil special.

In addition to getting the extra attention from Cast Members, you may get a little extra magic such as: Being picked as a VIP for a parade or show. My wife was wearing her anniversary button and we were getting in line for the Lion King show at AK and a CM saw the button and ushered us to the front of the line. We were asked to wiggle our fingers and magically open the doors to the theater. After that we were given our own bench on the front row of the theater. :cool1:

I just got back from my first visit and recived a 1st timer button! :)
I wore it the whole trip and i got a great response, people in the park say " Happy First Visit!" to you, a lot of characters interact with you better since its your first time, Mickey pointed to mine and bowed as if he were saying welcome..it was a great picture! People working the rides will comment on it and ask you how everything is and if they can do anything to make it better.

Over all, it makes you feel like home..very welcoming! I loved it and for that Im going back asap!

Hope you have a blast!:)

DD and I got our first time buttons in May 2007 but not until several days into our trip. We didn't know anything about them, but saw others wearing them and finally asked where to get it. On our last day, we had breakfast at CP in MK and was about to leave out. I saw a cast member with a trading pin lanyard and asked DD if she wanted to get one last trade in before we left. I didn't notice that several "suits" were standing around the cast member also. The cast member let DD pick the pin she wanted but didn't take one from her and one of the other cast members, who looked to be management, asked if we were enjoying our first trip. I said yes, but we were on our way out to get back to our hotel and catch ME back to the airport. She asked our flight times and what time we had to leave the hotel. We still had time and she asked what our favorite ride was together and we told her Splash Mtn. So she gave us special fast passes that were good for any ride in the park and told us to catch the train (which we also didn't know about.. lol) to the back and ride SM one more time. We hopped on the train and headed back but when we got there and went to hand the special fastpasses to the CM, he said, there's no line so just go right on in. So I ran across a dad and son on our way out handed them the special fastpasses. :dance3: That was one of the things that happened because of our first time buttons.

So when we check in to our resort hotel (Pop), do we tell the person behind the desk then that this is our first visit, or do we go to another desk at the hotel?

They will most likely know already when you check in to Pop ~ OR they will ask if anyone in the party is there for a 1st visit!

Have fun!

The pins are also available at the guest relation desk in any park - we got DD's at Epcot, as that was our first stop.

We stayed at the All Star Movies and when we checked in the lady asked us if we were celebrating anything special and we said my first time and our friendship and thats when she gave us our buttons

Ah that's good to know. I shall mention it in the hotel first and if nothing is offered I shall go on our first day to Guest relations. Our first day park is Animal Kingdom.

We got our buttons at Guest Relations...my roommate got a birthday button (blue) and a 1st visit button (yellow), I got an "I'm celebrating" (green) button and they wrote in "13.1 miles" since we were there for the half marathon. Other buttons we saw were engagement (pink?), anniversary (red), just married (gray), happily ever after(purple), and...hm. I can't remember if there were any others.

CMs remarked on them all week long...especially the birthday button. So did other guests...it was really cool. My roommate got free champagne, 4 different birthday cards signed by characters (she's 27, by the way!), a discount photopass card, we got to choose seats almost every ride, extra attention from photopass photographers, etc. It was just really exciting!

So we can wear them the entire vacation, and that's okay? :lmao: I almost feel like I'd be cheating to wear an anniversary button the entire time when our anniversary is only one day of the trip.... but hey, if it could get us in a parade, why not? :cool1:

On our first trip a couple of years ago we wore the "1st Trip Button" and nothing special at all happened other than the normal "Magic" of just being in WDW. So it is not a gaurantee that something will happen, but it certainly can't hurt to wear it!

We wore our first time buttons last year and they let us be the first ones to ride TSM the day we were at that park. We also had anniversary pins on and got a special anniversary award thing when we got off one of the rides. It was cute. We also go free ice creams one time when we went to buy them. We also go free hotdogs one time near the end of the day and the people at the cart were trying to get rid of them. We heard lots of happy anniversary's to us.

I won't mind. I will just be excited to get a free pin. :yay:
