Me - 34 (Always wanted to go to Disney)
Hubby - 34
DD1 - 5
DD2 - 2
Left house at 1.15 pm to travel the very short journey to the airport car parking site.
Transferred by minibus to the airport to check in for our flight. From our front door to the airport we are at the Easyjet check in desk within half an hour. I always like to be prompt for check in so that we can get checked in and then sit down with the kids in the departure lounge and have something to eat. However on this occassion it wasn't to be. On arrival at airport, we discover that there are 3 different Easyjet flights checking in, there are no specific check in desk for each flight and it's a total free for all, we end up spending 1hr and 15 minutes in the check in queue. Finally get through to departures 45 minutes before the flight is due to depart and as we have priorty boarding, leaves us only 15 mins to find something to eat. We end up buying a stock of crisps and pop from WHSmith to keep the kids going until dinner time. Also take the opportunity to buy the kids a couple of Disney mags to get the magic going.
A good flight which takes just over an hour to touch down at CDG. Our pushchair comes out of the luggage return quite quickly, but there is a very long wait for suitcases to come, complicated by the fact that luggage from 2 other flights is coming out of the same luggage return, so quite a scrum for baggage.
Out of the door and very impressed that the VEA shuttle bus is just outside, get onboard at 19.00 hours and pay the driver for the transfer to Disneyland coach station. At first we were a little confused by the seatbelts but once we got the hang of them thought that they were a very good idea, especially with little ones in tow.
We were really tired by this point and kids were desperate for their first glimpse of Disneyland and it seemed like quite a lengthy journey to get to the resort. DD1 is quite disappointed that we are on the wrong side of the bus to get the first glimpse of Disneyland, however she perks up when she spots the Balloon (Panoramique?) up in the air. We didn't realise when getting on the bus that it went round the Disney hotels before going to the coach station but it makes a nice detour and allows us to have a closer inspection of the hotels rather than what we have seen in the brochure.
Finally get to the Coach station and the very helpful driver points out the bus stand we need to pick up the transfer bus to the Kyriad hotel where we are booked in for 4 nights. Already there is a large crowd at the bus stand but we still manage to get on the first transfer bus that comes along. It's quite an uncomfortable transfer as the bus is so jammed packed and a little frightening for the little ones with them being small and being jammed up next to tall people with lots of luggage, however it is a really short journey and we are at the Kyriad by 8.45 pm, with 2 very hungry and tired children in tow.
Check in goes smoothly and we are given a room on the 2nd floor. Go to drop off bags at the room and we are very impressed with the facilities which are advertised as 2 star. Room has an adequate sized double bed and bunk beds and the size of the room is just right (once we remove the cot that had also been put in there for us). Tea and coffee facilites are provided with 2 storage/wardrobe areas (one of which contains a free room safe). TV with various different channels, also channel showing a Disney loop (which again was great for getting the kids into the mood). Bathroom is a really decent size, with toiletries provided and loads and loads of towels (never seem to get enough in hotels).
After dropping our bags in the room, we decide it is too late to head back to the Disney Village for dinner so decide to go to the hotel restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is located outside across a courtyard but is easily reached. We get to the restaurant at 9.00 pm. Price for dinner, which is an all you can eat buffet is 17 Euros per adult and 10 Euros (I think) for a child. My little one is given a free buffet as she is under 3 and the child price includes 2 soft drinks also. We choose our meal and their is a very good selection, Turkey, Pork, Beef dishes, provencal style, along with Dauohinose potatoes and plenty of choice of vegetables and salads. There a choice of pasta for the kids, chips and chicken and fish style dippers also. Total cost for dinner comes to 54 Euros which also includes a small caraffe of red wine for me and a Kroneburg for hubby. We really enjoy dinner and are even more impressed with the wide dessert selection to choose from, which we readily indulge in.
Finally head out of the restaurant at 22.30 hours, all very full and satisfied with the meal we have just eaten and head back across to the main hotel building for a drink at the bar.
The reception and bar area are open plan and it makes for a very nice, relaxed atmosphere in which to have a drink, there are soft chairs and tables provided around a play area for the kids (which mine loved) and a more formal bar and seating area next to the bar area. I get another glass of red wine which costs 3 Euros and anoteher Kronenburg for my hubby which costs 5 Euros for a 50cl glass.
We eventually head back to bed at 11.15pm and the kids promptly fall asleep as do we in the really really comfortable beds, ready for an early start tomorrow and our first ever day at Disneyland.
p.s Hope it wasn't too long, not used to writing a trip report
