Waiting patiently for 2008 rates, but I want to have my requests all figured out so I can call book as soon as they come out.

Will be booking a GV room at the Poly. I'm pretty set on requesting Tokelau for it's central location and larger rooms, but I'm torn between requesting the 1st or 3rd floor. I'd like the 1st for the convenience and 3rd for the view (and the possibility of a sideways glance of the castle.)

I know requests are just requests, but which floor do you prefer?

Dear grannyminnie
This is a tough decision to make. Unless you want to spend the extra money for a guaranteed view, you would be gambling. I would give you 100 to 1 odds that you would get a view of the Castle without paying for it.

Take the ground floor.

Think about staying in the Raratonga. It’s close to the GCH and you can walk right out of your room to the quiet pool. We stayed there and loved it.

Good Luck

I prefer balcony for privacy. I like to lay in bed in the evening in my jammies w/ the curtain open and be able to sit outside on the balcony. I would be very uncomfortable w/ a patio and people walking by.

I just wanted to remind you that you would only be making a request. We returned yesterday and had a request for a particular building, but it was not met. No problem though we had a great time anyway. Sometimes we get our request met, and sometimes we don't. Moral of the story, don't get too upset if your request is not met.

We always ask for top (3rd in this case) because it never fails that if we are not on the top floor, there will be a herd of very loud, inconsiderate, _______ (fill in the blank- people, animals) above us ! Good luck !!:thumbsup2

Word of warning about the Polynesian and the first floor. The Polynesian is home to many ducks. The ducks are Disney ducks. They aren't really afraid of humans. In fact, they seem to view humans as their primary source of food. Ducks like to walk on land and quack when they are hungry, especially in the morning. A flock of walking and quacking ducks will most certainly act as your alarm clock if you are on the first floor. In fact, they will be the first things you see when you open the curtains. They will be there in the hopes they can beg a breakfast from you. Did I mention they quack loudly? Like with most children and in-laws, ignoring them won't make them go away. They will just quack louder.

You'll still hear them on the third floor but it's kind of fun to stand up on your balcony and encourage the ducks to make even more noise.

I thought when I make mine I'd do this request:

Tokelou (spelling I know) 2nd or 3rd floor

Tahiti - 2nd or 3rd floor

I really prefer that end, and then also the 2nd & 3rd floors have balconies.

the convenience of the first floor can't be beat. (though I do personally prefer 3rd floor) We have been on first floor several times though and never ever had the ducks wake us up, or ever heard them at all! Really, never!

They were there when we would go out though, and dd loved them. It was actually one of the things that she loved most about first floor!

If you are garden view, it's much less likely that you will have duck visitors anyway, they prefer lagoon view, lol.

Personally, we love the first floor.

We don't stay in the room much as it is, but there's nothing like waking up and talking a walk right out onto the beach from your room. I have many fond memories of my children and I waking up taking a little stroll before we start the hectic day.

While I will admit the ducks can become a little crazy, my kids have always enjoyed feeding them and getting them all wound up...lol....

It's all a personal thing, but I always enjoy staying on the first floor, whether it's the Poly or the BW (we always split stays between the two), and I always request it. It makes the room seem that much bigger. If it gets a little cramped with the kids etc, you just slide the door open and you have all the space you need to wander around.

I know it sounds crazy, but the higher floors even feel safer to me. It just feels weird having that glass right there on ground level.

I agree we stayed we have stayed in the Hawaii twice and the Tahiti once. In the morning we would be on our balcony enjoying the view and our coffee and the ducks would walk up to our room. We like the ducks they were never a nuisance and never woke us up. We always considered it a part of the Disney Magic.

When staying in the raratonga on the first floor we did see some ducks but they were swimming in the Quiet Pool. They never did approach our room. Most mornings there was some really cool looking birds with long beaks walking past our room eating bugs and some little bunney wabbits eating grass. My girls got the biggest kick out of watching the animals and so did I. If you want a little extra piece of the Magic go for the Ground floor.

I am thinking if you are paying for dynamite view go for the third floor.
We had the third floor in the Hawaii and the views were awesome.

Maybe this post is worth a poll?

Little word of warning re: privacy and third floor. We love both 3rd and ground floor. The third floor and especially the second floor are not as private as you think. And the sheer curtains drawn closed offer no privacy at the poly at night. We were walking to the GCH from tahiti and my husband spotted 3 nude/ semi nude people in their room. NO HE WAS NOT SPECIFICALLY LOOKING. We ended up laughing and shielding our eyes from the rooms as we watched the path and walked. THe Poly grounds can be pretty dark and your eye naturally gravitates towards the lights from rooms. Just a little warning for those when getting ready. Dress in the bath or close your heavy drapes.

I was wondering what everyone thinks too. I personally LOVE the 3rd floor and always request it. However, we are taking my 2 and 4 year old this time and think that the 1st floor may be the way to go.
Is it really that much more convenient with children?
