Are there any notable differences in park crowds or DVC availability between the first or second week of December? Need to reschedule my F&W trip!:(

From my experience at disney over the past 15 yrs, the first and second week of December are relatively equal in availability and the parks are not that crowded. But just to be safe always make your reservation as far as possible in advance, you can always change them.

i'm sure you know that early december is very popular with DVC members so book as early as possible.

otherwise, you might want to consider whether pop warner will be an issue for the first week of december. not sure if anything is scheduled at this point for 2011 - and mostly it seems to affect those staying in values/moderates where the kids are booked - but that week drives some people crazy...

also, second week of december might have a few more kids out of school and starting to get more crowded in general.

I guess it depends on what crowded means. 1st week is not like spring break, but the MVMCP this past 1st week of December was sold out every night it ran. The MK was at full capacity.

It does indeed make 1st week tough at times; lots of chanting and claping going on everywhere and in every park.. sometimes it kind of ruined the holiday atmosphere. But all in all, it was fine, it was just crowded.

Keep in mind, The World is always full of people looking for the same thing we all are - low crowds and the Disney magic. Try to make some magic when the crowd is pressing in on you. I like to give little ones free pins to trade (with parents permission, of course). It seems to make the heavy crowd feeling much better!

You may want to check when the DVC meeting is held, if that's something you may want to attend. I have to wait until exams are over, so I don't usually get to go until the 10th or something like that, and I've never been able to be there for the meeting.

The last few years the days surrounding the parade taping day seem very busy

imo the 2nd full week of Dec is much slower than the 1st

we tend to vist early Oct or early Dec every year & have had no issue with pop warner participants, even when staying at one of the blocked hotels in Dec. 09 (POR):confused3. Parents I spoke to poolside told me the organizers keep the kids busy with practice/games/mandatory schoolwork hours and they hardly saw their kids most of the stay. Direct opposite experience when we were in hotel w/cheerleaders/twirlers in the past

Thanks Bobbi! Since you've frequented the world during this week, how was the weather, crowds? Looks like I will want to avoid the taping of the parade timeframe. As far as the DVC meeting, no, that is not a factor in my trip planning!

Candlelight Processional is during that time...not sure if they bring in some of the bigger names for hte weekend shows..

We were there this year from Dec 5 - 11th..on the days it was cold (40s), the parks were pretty empty...on the days when it was 60 and higher, the parks were MUCH busier....

The Dec 9th MVMCP was sold out....I really wish we were there on a non-sold out night...if I were to do it again, I probably would have rather been there on Tuesday when it cost more AND it was 40 degrees but wasnt sold out instead of on Thursday when it was discounted and 50s...

It was Pop Warner week but we hardly saw any of them and certainly didnt hear any chanting etc in the park....or the plane ride for that matter which had 3 cheer leading teams on it...

We usually go the last week in September and this was our first winter trip. Its worth doing once with a major focus on all things christmas/holiday - take pictures at camp minnie-mickey in AK because thats wehre they are in christmas costume, see the gingerbread houses, take pictures infront of the christmas trees, watch the epcot vingets about the holiday traditions in each country...It was too cold for us to want to make this a regular visit time, but it was great to visit once...and maybe I'll do it again in 10 years...

One other thing to note - rides like Test Track or even Dumbo when its 40 degrees out - are COLD...VERY VERY COLD....

Were going for the first time on 12/4-12/10/2011. Does anyone know when the tickets for MVMCP go on sale? Also when do park hours for 2011 come out and where do I look for them, sorry very new to disboard as you can see.
