Got a question. On our upcoming trip to Disney in September, we're coming in with Grandma and Grandpa who have a week booked at Wyndham Palms resort. We're supposed to stay the first night at Wyndham with them and then we move over to our one bedroom at the BWV. Anybody know how far a drive we're talking about from Wyndham Palms to Disney's Boardwalk?

We know BWV is a great place to stay, but we don't know much about Wyndham Palms. Any DVCers ever stay at Wyndham Palms? Grandma and Grandpa got an Interval "Getaway" for the Wyndham Palms at a great rate. Any nice amenities at Wyndham as far as great pools, restaurants, etc? My husband is a little stressed thinking about staying offsite for even one night and I'd like to put his mind at ease. And after all, we do move to BWV the next day so I know he can survive it (hee hee).

Thanks for any replies.

We are also staying at the Wyndham Palms for one night before our OKW stay in October. I'd love to hear more information and opinions about this resort. Come on folks, enlighten us. :p

I haven't stayed at Wyndham Palms (yet), but I can tell you a few things. It's listed as a 5-star resort in the II book, which puts it up there with the better resorts. It's located off U.S. 192 west. (1.7 miles west of I-4/U.S. 192 interchange, then 1.2 miles south on CR 545.) I understand that it is quite a large resort, and some buildings are quite a distance from the pools.
I supplement my DVC time with II getaways, and have a week at Wyndham Palms in November, and a week each at Marriott Cypress Harbour and Marriott's Horizons in January.

My brother and his family are staying there in October. I did the research for them on the Orlando area hotels board. They had several threads saying very nice things about Wyndham Palms. I think it's relatively new, big-screen tv's in the rooms, a few restaurants, etc. If I knew how to post a link to those threads I would do it for you, but I don't, so for your sake, I hope the search button is up and running!

I was just there last week playing golf....it is very nice...HOWEVER...I was shocked by the amount of "selling" going on, it was very uncomfortable eating breakfast while at least 5 tables around you are all being given the hard sell by the time share guy...I also was shocked by the amount of people walking around on what looked like guided tours...it certainly seemed like that was the priority, but i was only there for a few hours.....by the way....the resort is about 10 to 15 minutes from most of the resort areas...tke a right on 192 and follow the signs...it is actually beyond the turn for celebration

I was there for a wedding in June. I was very impressed with the condos. We had a one BR. It had a big screen projection TV in living room, a fully equipped and stocked kitchen (dishes, etc), dining area, screened porch with entrance from LR and MBR, a whirlpool tub, second TV in MBR, and it was HUGE!! I think it was the largest floorplan for a 1 BR I've stayed in.

The 2BRs were just as nice. I used to live in apartments much smaller than either of these units. Really nice!!

I was disappointed in the free breakfast at the main pool. Not much of a selection.

There is a main pool which seemed pretty nice, but the complex is so large we would have had to drive to it, so we used a smaller local pool near our building. It was OK...nothing special.

The wedding reception was at the WP Country Club. That was very nice as well. First class all the way. I didn't play the course so can't comment on that. The food was excellent.

The only disappointing thing was what appeared to be a lot of...how shall I say this..."unsavory" guests. By this I mean loud, disrespectful of property and other guests, rude. I remember one incident where a guest parked his van near the "quiet local pool", opened the doors and blasted - and I mean volume of 10 -- his music. The police had to be called and there was quite a confrontation.

This "unsavory element" might have something to do with all the selling that goes on. By offering big discounts to listen to sales pitch, probably a lot of people that otherwise couldn't afford to stay there take advantage.

If I were buying a timeshare off-site I would give this serious consideration. The accomodations are very very spacious and some of the nicest I've ever seen.
