1st Floor Rooms at Polynesian

I'm looking to stay at the Samoa Longhouse at the Polynesian Resort and was wondering how the 1st floor rooms were. We've only stayed on the 3rd floor in that building with the balcony but since my son is now 7 years old, I thought the 1st floor may be more convenient for the pool. Does anyone know if you leave the room thru the sliding doors, can you lock them from the outside or do you need to leave the sliding doors open to get back in that way?

What I really liked about our first floor room in Tokelau in 2005 was the accessibility to the quiet pool and the lagoon to watch fireworks at night. It was very peaceful sitting on the patio, too, just observing the goings-on at the resort. There are lots of ducks, too, and they're not shy! It was very peaceful.

We stayed at the Poly a few months ago, we had a 1st floor room in the Samoa building. It was fantastic! You do need to lock your sliding door from your room not the outside. We were on the end of the hallway and we could literally be outside in 3 seconds. We were facing the Volcano pool and our room was on the end closest to the walkway to Capn' Cooks. I would definitely request a 1st floor room again.

We had a room on the lst floor volcano pool side of samoa once too. It was the greatest. Our kids are a little older so dh and I rested in the room and left the slider unlocked, when they were done swimming they just hopped back in the room, just a reminder keep your curtains shut if you want privacy. I couldnt believe all the people who kept the curtains open when we were there. I guess they didnt mind who saw them etc. I would keep the slider locked at all times too. Too much pedestrian traffic walking by, especially at night to the beach, fireworks, pool etc.
