1st ever split stay booked! Now, how to do it?

I've been to WDW many times, if I had to guess, at least 30 times. However, this is my first split. We always drive, so that isn't an issue. What do people usually do the day of their split? We are staying three nights at the Polynesian, then over to AKL for six nights.

We always treat it like any other day. Head to the park. Let them move our luggage. Head to new resort in the evening. We don't miss a beat. When we do have a car, I drive it over to the new hotel in the morning and meet the family at the park.

I'm still debating what we'll do this trip. We will either check out and go to the parks a bit later in the morning and then head to the Boardwalk in the afternoon OR we'll enjoy one last morning at the Poly and use the pool, have lunch at Captain Cooks and then head over to the Boardwalk. There are changing rooms and showers at the Volcano Pool that would allow us to change after check out. I'm leaning towards the latter option as it sounds more relaxed.

I've always been curious about your magic bands. I understand you are issued with a brand new magic band upon check-in at your second resort? If you don't want or need the second band, can you reject it via my disney experience & still use your first magic band (issued at the first resort on your vacation) as a room key at the second resort, park entrance admission, etc. So use the same first magic band throughout your stay at multiple resorts? I think this would make sense since with single resort stays, my old magic bands from the years prior still work to unlock my room, etc. The magic band is simply a device. All updated pertinent information has been uploaded to your digital file?

We make our split day the day we do all the non park things we want to do and a bit of a rest day, we have a lie in and DH cooks a nice breakfast. I pack up while he does that and we all shower etc. while we eat I call bell services and they take the luggage. After breakfast usually around 10:30 we leave and go check in the new resort. We then go do mini golf, DTD and/or. Waterpark before going back to the new resort and getting our room usually around 3pm. I unpack and we head out to dinner and pop to the MK after dinner

Thanks for the replies! I'm debating if we should go to AK (since we will be going to AKL) or if we should do room service breakfast at the Polynesian, then head to Disney Springs.I want to do AK in the PM this trip most definitely because of the new night time show. I also want to do Boma for dinner on our first night at AKL. Decisions decisions!

We treat it like any other day. We go to the parks and have them send our luggage over if we don't have our car. If we have our car, we just drive over to the new resort, and check in and ride a bus from there to the parks.

I love split stays! Especially since I am on a mission to stay at all the resorts!

We use it as our waterpark or downtown day. This time since we have a 4-way split, one day is Blizzard Beach and resort, and the other 2 are downtown and resort. We love splits - it feels like a bunch of vacations rolled into one
