Day Seven- Fri. Feb. 7- AK/Epcot- My DH was NOT excited about returning to AK (he doesnt like it at all), but I really wanted to see Lion King and we were pretty much done with the rest of the parks. I never thought Id EVER say that. Weve gotten so much done this week. I left them sleep much later than I was comfortable with
.but oh well
..We park at AK
ughhhh
I hate parking
I hate the trams
I especially hate the stroller on the trams. I want the monorail/boat/walking paths back. We enter AK to moderate crowds. You could tell such a huge difference between getting there for EE vs. now getting there mid morning....ughhh... Found a show guide. We missed the first showing of Lion King by minutes
..FIGURES
get there as early as you can people
.you will not regret it. We went to DinoLand (whatever). We all rode Triceratop Spin (fun), and then pretty much just browsed the area a bit. I was tempted to do the boneyard, but didnt. I guess Im not too into it all today. We then headed for Camp Minnie-Mickey. I didnt want to miss this show. So we got in line very early
and again
we shouldnt have worried. I passed up all the characters and a few other things that I would have liked to have done, and this show wasnt close to full. We all like it well enough though. I asked if anyone wanted to do anything else. I could have stood to do a few others, but I could tell that they werent into it. My DH even had his heart set on off-site dining for lunch
.so I obliged. We returned to the hotel and napped. Maybe all the touring is catching up with us. We make it to Epcot in the evening at a decent time though. Time to salvage our last few hours at Disney. We proceeded straight to World Showcase. I stopped in France for a dessert from the Bakery
YUMMY!! We caught certain entertainers here or there. Browsed the shops a bit. At America
we did the American Adventure. We liked it well enough. We both found the audiotronics work (sp?) amazing!!! We took our time over to Germany and the parade was just coming through so we gave in and watched it. My DD really does like parades, so we didnt mind. We got hungry in Norway so we ate at Ackershus and then did Maelstrom. I had no idea what this ride was like. I kept holding on to DD for life and saying, Are you kidding me? Fun for me
but I cant believe that I took her
..LOL. We reluctantly skipped the Mexico ride. Im sure DD would have enjoyed it. We staked out our spot for Illuminations but didnt stay for the whole thing. DD really doesnt like fireworks that much, so we snuck out just before the ending. We took our time saying good bye to Epcot and Disney.
Day Eight- Sat. Feb. 8- Checkout-Return Home- We took our time getting up, packing, checking out. We drove to Daytona to visit the flea markets and to spend a little time with fellow NASCAR fans. The flea markets were PACKED with buyers and sellers. We shopped quite a bit (it was quite chilly today). I would have like to have spent some more time here (with the race fans, at the track, or on the beach), but it was time to get going, and Daytona was so crowded. The traffic was bad. We reluctantly headed North. My DH wanted to watch the race tonight on TV plus spend some daylight hours in the Carolinas so he suggested a hotel in Columbia, SC about 6:30 PM and I gleefully accepted. A pregnant woman LOVES to hear about opportunities for more rest and relaxation.
Day Eight- Sat. Feb. 8- Checkout-Return Home- We slept in a bit too late, but got going and made it home about 8:30 PM just a tad bit too late for me.
All in all ..a WONDERFUL trip. We probably wont be going back for quite awhile so it was GREAT to get so much done, and have so much fun. The weather and the wait times were GLORIOUS all week. I love Disney. Its just time for a break now. I spent WAY too much this time around LOL There are certainly millions of memories to last a lifetime though. I couldnt think of a better place to spend time with my loved ones.
