Trip Report-1st ever onsite visit (Poly, BWV, and offsite)- 2/1-2/8
Cast: DH (late 20’s), myself (late 20’s & 21 weeks pregnant), and DD (2 yo).

PreTrip-DAY WE’RE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE- Fri. Jan. 31st- I awake to the sound of my DD (2 yo) vomiting. I strip her and her bedclothes, check her temp and have her crawl in bed with us for the last hour before we have to wake up. No temp…she seems fine. I give her juice and we drift off to sleep. EEEKKK…she throws up all over us a few minutes later. I strip both of us, and my bedclothes, and move us to the couch. She seems fine. I again administer fluids and again end up wearing them almost immediately. I decide that I will need to stay home from work today…OH GREAT! We’re going on a trip…she’s sick….I’ll have to take a day off work, and still had so much to do at work before vacation. I call off work…and look over…. she’s jumping on the bed…she is going to be fine now…I just know it. She may have vomited one more time that morning…I really can’t remember, but then we are both able to settle down for a nap. We wake up late morning and start calling the grandma’s for advice. They tell me not to worry. She’s on a new medicine…maybe just skip giving that to her. DD wakes up…seems fine…. we start to snack and drink…it comes back up almost immediately. I think that I tried fluids (VERY UNSUCCESSFULLY) one more time, before the poor thing out of desperation pleads to me for pretzels because she is starving. I tried not giving her fluids this time…. and she actually kept the pretzels down. My mom advises me to call the doctor to inform him about her not being able to keep fluids down, and he wants to see her right away. The office closes in 45 min. and it is about a 45 min. drive…but we make it. He says, “Just a bug. Feel free to go to WDW anyway.” Nothing he can do here that they can’t do down there (or something like that). He warns that the drive down may not be fun…. bless his heart. We get home. I try to salvage what’s left of the day, finish packing, loading, and we leave just a bit behind schedule. She seems fine…so what do I do? I let her have some juice…EEEKKKK…all over the car and me. Now I have to smell this for the next 15 hours or so…brilliant! The ride was otherwise uneventful until the tragic news of Columbia just as we drive across the FLA border that fateful Sat. morning.

Day One- Sat. Feb 1st- We arrive at the Polynesian around 1:00 or so on Sat. No line for check-in. Get to the room (see resort report). Explore resort. Eat lunch at Kona (see dining report), and then take the tour of the monorail resorts (see resort report). We got to ride up front from the CR to the Polynesian and got our co-pilot cards. We watched the fireworks from O’hana’s (see dining), and the EWP from the Beach. It was a little uncomfortably cold at night with the breeze from the lagoon on the beach, but I should have probably dressed warmer. It had been quite comfortable all day.

Day Two-Sun. Feb 2nd-MK EE day- I get up about 6:30 AM….have room service (Tonga Toast) and the rest of the family is up and out by about 7:30-7:45. We take the short monorail trip to the MK and are walking off of the platform when we hear the countdown to open the MK. There are maybe 50 people in front of us…MAX!!! Unbelievable. We see the characters just inside the entrance, so we stop for Minnie. The line isn’t long at any of them, but I don’t want to waste magic hour in character lines, so after a pic and autograph…we head down an almost empty Main Street….HEAVENLY. I wanted to do Fantasyland first, but my DH insists on Buzz, so we head to an empty Buzz and walk right on. IT BREAKS DOWN!!! We sit for a few minutes. I am missing precious EE time here. We hurry over to Fantasyland to find NO LINES???? We did Pooh, Dumbo, the Carrousel, It’s a Small World, and decide that we are done with Fantasyland already…. AMAZING. We take our time through Liberty Square and over to Aladdin Carpets and there is no line (it’s after 9:00 now). We go to POC and again walk right in. Most of the boat rides that we were in were mostly empty. We come out in time for Tiki Bird’s first show (almost empty theater), and then head over to Jungle Cruise (our only wait all day). We waited quite awhile for this one. It was getting to be about 11:00 and we were getting hungry. I got a Dole Whip. We went to see if we could get the first lunch seating for Crystal Palace….we got an 11:40…..YEAH!! My DH ran off to see if he could sneak in a ride on Space Mountain before it and I browsed the shops and stores on an un-congested MainStreet. We had done every single one of our must-do’s by 11:00 AM, and were now just finding things to do. I bought my DD a balloon, and went to check in for lunch. My DH came back and reported that he had had a short wait for Space Mountain. We had a good lunch, although it took FOREVER to see the characters. We didn’t get out of there until 1:30 or something hideous like that. But what did we have to do? We were pretty much done. We went to Tomorrowland and got a FastPass for Buzz (didn’t really need it), and then rode TTA and then returned to Buzz with no FastPass wait. We walked to Toontown and took the train to Frontierland. My DH got a FastPass for Thunder Railroad. We watched the ride for a while. We got an ice pop and got a seat for the afternoon parade. My DH rode the Thunder railroad while we watched the parade. We met him back at the train and took it back to ToonTown. My DD played on the playground equipment there, and we seriously decided that we were done. We returned to the Polynesian…watched the fireworks from the beach at 7:00 PM and then drove to the WL for dinner at Artist Point (see dining). We were going to return to the MK on Monday, but we saw no need to…so we scheduled a ‘non-park’ day for Monday. What a great day!!!! Temps were perfect for park hopping. Perfect Day. I love the MK….especially when uncrowded…..LOL

nothing like being sick in Disney......good start when you got there though.....thanks

Happy to hear your daughter was better! Must have been great to walk right on to most of the rides. :D
