I am asking you DVC planners because I think you view your park days differently and I am a DVC newbie.

For our Feb. trip to SSR in a Studio we (me, DS#1 - age 14, DS#2 -age 9 as of last wk boo hoo- no DH because of his schedule)get in on a Monday (16th) it is not a EMH morning at MK. We get in to MCO on Jetblue at around 11:30am. I was planning to drop our stuff at SSR (developer points!!!) and go to MK grab lunch and then eat at Calif. Grill for dinner to watch Wishes. Is it crazy to go to MK at around 1 or 2p?

I am planning on buying APs since we will be 6 days at SSR are going again in June for 6 days an possibly Dec (but not 100% on this).

Help - what do ya think? Should we just lay by the pool and then hit our ADR for Cali. Grill? I like experiencing the MK the first day but have never had the luxury of knowing when we'll go again - yeah for DVC.

It depends on how well you slept the night before, how long you were traveling and how you feel when you arrive.

That being said we arrived at 5 pm after a very long flight and made wishes at 8 pm. I love sneaking in a few hours the day we arrive. If time permits, I say go for it.

I suspect that most of us DVC long-time members approach planning a bit differently because we've been so often, and most likely have AP's. Thus, we don't have to rush to do a lot right away when we get there to maximize our time. But with an AP, we don't have to wonder if its its worth using a day's admission just to go to a park for a couple of hours.

Regarding your specific question about the MK - I guess it depends on when in February you are going. If its during the President's Day week then you should expect very heavy crowds. With an AP, that's not really a consideration so just go ahead and enjoy it. But don't expect to do much other than take in the atmosphere at that point (again if this is during President's week).

Our first trip to WDW was in 2006. We live in CA so we took a red and got into MCO at 6:00am. We were checked into POP by 8:00am. Exhausted, we went directly to MK because we were so excited. Needless to say, by 4pm we were DONE.

Now, we are going again in Sept 09 as DVC owners and are planning on sitting around the first day, especially now that we have APs.

Are you arriving on one of the February holiday weekends? If so, I'd skip MK on a weekend day, but if it's during the week...go for it. Even arriving at 1-2, there will still be plenty of things you can get on even if it's a busy day. As I said before though...if it's a weekend day...forget it.

I agree, weekends at MK can be brutal. It looks like the week of the 16th is presidents week, Washington's b-day anyway.
