What kind of themes have you used for 1st birthdays. I was considering someting simple and beautiful such as polka dots or ladybugs. Any other neat ideas for a little girl?

Oldest ds had a balloon theme, dd had an animal theme and youngest ds had frogs! Check out birthdaypartyideas.com. It's a really, really helpful site!

We did a Candyland Theme!

It was pretty easy to do and you are able to use all the colors from the board etc. Centerpieces were huge suckers that I bought at Walgreens for $1a piece. I had a candy buffet set up with takeout boxes and that was the favor. Great for kids and adults. I bought a bunch of glass containers from discount stores and used what I had. Bought a ton of candy and dumped it in the dishes, bowls etc. Funny what some people got so excited to see!

I painted a copy of the Candyland board on a room size canvas and then made up cards for the kids to play on. They loved it. Changed some of the games to reflect the candy theme.

We had a chocolate fountain-Big hit!

Good Luck with the planning!!!!

I am currently planning by DD2's birthday (well, about to be two) and we are doing Mickey/Minnie. Her birthday is Feb 9th, so on her 1st birthday we did hearts with lots of pink and red. My neighbor did a clown theme for her son's first birthday and it turned out real cute. What date is it? Is it close to Valentines?
