I thought some here could give some ideas. We are having a cookout for my kids. DD 9-5 (9) DS 9-14 (1) and DS 9-24 (12). The older two each are getting a cake on their actual birthday, but at the cookout it will just be for DS turning one. I wanted a frog cake since his room is a frog theme, but now I am re considering and the cake lady needs to know by next week what I want. The party is going to be mainly family with his sitters family as well. Please helpo with some cake ideas for a 1 year old.

There are the cupcakes on Family fun:

I am srue you could make it into a big round cake if you didn't want to do cupcakes.

I'm confused. Do you want ideas on what to do for a frog theme, but not an actual frog cake or do you just want totally different general ideas or do you want ideas on how to do a frog cake?

Sorry for the confusion, that is what I get for being in a hurry and not proofing. I would like any ideas--they can be frog related or not. Again the party is a birthday party for all the kids. We are doing the cake in relation to DS turning one. THe older kids are fine with this and are excited about brither turning one. I wanted a frog, but could not find one that I liked so that is why I am asking for any and all suggestions (frog related or not).

I did a Cat in the Hat theme for DD's first birthday...for DS I did Micky Mouse. We went to a great site called Birthday Express and got a ton of favors cheaply (they do all sorts of interesting things) This year, both kids are into superheros, so we did superman and supergirl. (I do their parties together, DD's birthday is July 21st and DS's is July 26th) We also do outside parties since they are summer birthdays, we go down to our community's beach for our parties...the water is plenty of activity and I don't have to worry about figuring our activities.

What does DS like character or animal wise? I think the frog sounds cute if he likes frogs or identifies with them b/c they are in his nursery. Does he laugh at Elmo? Or hug Winnie-the-Pooh? Browse the birthday supply sites and you'll see tons of potential ideas. DS just turned two and picked out a "Cars" cake! :) Last year he had Elmo. :)

I would think any theme you want would be fine. Some really cute cakes I've seen are baby block cakes (maybe have the #1 and his initials on the sides and a picture of something he likes).

This Martha Stewart version has individual baby blocks-- which could be cute so you can decorate one for each of your kids and the baby can have his own to dig into.

I was thinking one big block....

Maybe there's a photo you really like and you can have that made into a cake. My grocery store and Basking Robbins will do those edible art things for $10 - 15 a sheet. It's cute!

For my DD's first birthday, we did a butterfly theme. She really would not have noticed if there was NO theme at all, since she was more interested in all the people in the house.

Just pick something he likes and you can't go wrong.
