So this is my first TR. We will see how this goes. My wife and I decided to take our one year anniversary trip to Disney World. (I say decided, but what I really mean is I begged her and she gave in)

First, a little about us.
This is me.

I'm a huge Disney World fan. I say Disney World because my wife knows way more about Disney movies than I do. But as far as the parks, I'm a little obsessive. Yep, I watch weird cable shows about the parks, read books about their history, and even go on message boards (lol) to learn tips and tricks.

And this is my wife.

She's big into Disney movies. I think she owns them all. And she corrects me every time I mess up a Disney song, which is often. She puts up with me :)

Alright, more to come later.

Yep, I did a lot of planning. I figure if we are dropping thousands of dollars on a first anniversary trip I wanted it to be close to perfect as possible.

Our anniversary is September 29th so we set a date for our trip for Saturday Sept 28th - Saturday October 5th.

Next, we needed to decide where to stay. We both liked the deluxe resorts, especially the ones around the monorail loop for convenience. After reading many reviews and watching many videos we decided on the Polynesian!

The Grand Floridian and the Contemporary are nice, but we both wanted something with a little more theme if this was going to be a Disney trip. And I called back when the room only discount became available and was able to get a nice discount on the room!

So now that the resort is settled, lets move on to the dining.
Yes, I woke up super early on the 180 day mark to get the right dining reservations. At this point I had already made a tentative plan on which days we were going to which parks and what restaurants we wanted to try for those days. If I remember correctly, we got all of our ADRs that we wanted.

Let's see, what else goes into planning. It seemed like there was way more to the planning process than I'm actually typing. Oh, MagicBands. So we were part of a test group for the Magic Bands. I was able to prebook some ride times for the days we were there. So that was different and mostly a good thing.

Well, that's all for planning. Now on with the show...

So our Saturday started off with waking up super early and taking our dog Thriller to her the lady who was keeping her for us. My wife was super sad leaving the dog. After a short plane ride we arrived in Orlando and hopped aboard the Magical Express. We were able to use our Magic Bands to check in at the airport. And before we knew it we we pulling up at the Polynesian.

At the check in were were both given real flower leis. Well, my wife was given flowers and I was given a seaweed rope/necklace thing.

We loved our room. We had a bottom floor with a small secluded patio.

After unwinding a bit, we went over to Captain Cook's for some lunch and some Dole Whip. This was both our first time with Dole Whip. It was ok. Definitely different than regular soft serve.

So now that we are fueled up we rode the monorail to the Grand Floridan. I had made us an appt for a couples massage at the spa. The massage was nice. We were both given fruit drinks at the beginning and there were some refreshments in the locker rooms.

Later that night we had ADRs for a nice dinner at Narcoossee's. We were both really pleased with the dinner. We were able to watch Wishes from the deck and we received a free dessert for our anniversary!

subscribing and in 1995 we went there for our honeymoon

We used to go to TN for just about all of our anniversaries (mainly because we got married there) but after doing Disney for our 3 year anniversary we ended up doing it again for our 5 year. We ended up doing the California Grill for both of ours and lucked up to be up there when the fireworks were going on too. Congrats and may you enjoy many more Disney anniversaries!
