1900 Park Fare....Yay or nay?

YUCK! We would never go back. The food was mediocore but the service was terrible. (tried twice). PLus its sooo loud in there. Never again for us!!

Well...thank you all for your posts. Guess more negatives than positives. We do have ADR's for Norway's princess breakfast and have been to CP (loved it). Thought we'd try PF b/c my DGD (almost 4) is really into Cinderella. We have dinner ADR's there....know what you mean about buffets; never really expect too much. Have heard about the stepsisters being great....just not sure what to do b/c of some of the "barely edible" comments!

If you should visit at dinner time watch for the busboy that moves like a robot. He really puts on quite a show while clearing the tables quickly and efficiently. We've seen him several different years at 1900 Park Fare.

Thanks so much for the tip!! That's why I love Disboards so much....b/c of people like you who take the time to add some extra magic!!

It certainly depends on the night. We've been a few times and the food is always...ummm...adequate. But the character interactions are hit or miss. When they are on it's one of the best. My girls still rave about how cool the step sisters are. But when it's bad, it's really bad. For us it's almost always worth the gamble.

After reading about this restaurant on the boards we decided to book a breakfast meal. I read the room ambiance is lacking, as is the food for the most part. But the character interaction was usually good/great. And the ones you should see at that meal time are somewhat different than those at most parks and other character meals. Guess time will tell for us.

But who goes to a buffet for the mashed potatoes?

Haha... I love mashed potatoes...Can't Wait!!! We have reservations here in August for the first time.

All the comments about the characters is getting me very excited!! :goodvibes

It's really hard to know if you'll like a restaurant until you try it. I've read some wonderful reviews of restaurants at WDW which I didn't care for and others that people hated but we enjoyed. We like Park Faire and do both breakfast and dinner once each every year. We have never had a bad experience there. Oh - and I can not get enough of the strawberry soup - it is like a smoothie in a bowl..

we went last year for dinner, and it was our favorite new place to eat! the step sisters are soo funny!! they were screaming at each other from across the restaurant! :rotfl2: and then Anastasia kissed my son. the picture was worth the entire cost of the meal!!!

we have plans to go back in Dec and my son is not happy at all!! :)

We have done both breakfast and dinner. I think we enjoyed the food a little more at breakfast (but we also love breakfast buffets). The first trip we did the breakfast and my kids were younger, so the characters were very age-appropriate. The second trip the girls were a year older and the characters were more suitable for their ages at that time. The step-sisters are hilarious!
Overall we enjoyed both experiences, and we wouldn't hesitate to repeat them again one day, but until we've tried a couple of new experiences, it is not on our Must-Do list.

I really think you should try it for yourself. Everyone has different tastes. We love 1900 PF. We love the character interaction.

We have only gone for dinner, but have been happy with the food. The strawberry soup is so yummy!!

We are also the suckers that buy the picture that they take!! LOL

Just got back from a great dinner! The food was good - lots of choices, including a good chicken marsala and 2 carved meat stations (I liked the roast beef/prime rib the best). Took hot veggies from both the adult and kid stations (I like veggies). DD was a big fan of the pasta dishes as well. About 6 different dessert choices on top of the entrees - most of them were bite-sized which meant more to try (mini tart, mini mousse in chocolate shell, mini brownie, etc.). And of course, the strawberry soup - which is what brings us back. Yum!

The characters were fantastic - our seating was at 7:20pm and there were lots of families as well as our table of 2. DD had planned to "ignore" the characters but Anastasia, Drizella and Lady Tremaine were just too funny. Lots of conversations going on across the room, including Lady Tremaine telling a screaming child "There's no crying in my dining room!" with the best 'look'. We were in stitches.

We've been for breakfast as well, but this trip was too short to manage eating here twice.

A man was posing with Lady Tremaine while we were visiting. His wife said for everyone to smile... Lady Tremaine said, "I am smiling, now paint the portrait!", of course she had a scowl on her face. She promised another child a night in the dungeon if he didn't eat all his broccoli.

Hi,
I just went to 1900 Park Fare on 4th of July for breakfast. It would definitely depend on if you are going for great food or great fun. We were going for the interactions with the characters and they certainly did not disappoint. The food was fine and my husband is a human garbage disposal so anything that is cooked is good for him! But the characters...I could go on for hours about Mary Poppins and Mad Hatter. They were so ON and so "in" character it was amazing. They were interacting with each other and us; even quoting the other's movies as well as their own. It was literally THE BEST character experience we have ever had. Now, of course, one can not guarantee that the characters will act the same or that you will even have the same CMs but hope you will take a chance for a possible great memorable experience. Good luck :)

I agree the food is somewhat below average. It's edible., but you wouldn't really want to eat it more than once. However, if you have kids the will most certainly enjoy the characters.

This was probably one of our least favorite character meals. We went for dinner and we were seated in the side room which probably made a difference. It felt claustrophobic and it felt like you were missing out on what was going on in the main area. Also the only character who spent any amount of time at our table was Prince Charming. The stepsisters and stepmother kept walking past our table and not stopping. Cinderalla stopped at our table took a picture and then walked off. We were about to leave before the stepmother and stepsisters came to our table.

The food there was actually quite tasty, but the character interaction stressful, I almost felt like I had to force the characters to interact, if you kwim? I felt like because we didn't have any little girls in princess dresses at our table, but still it felt like they were ignoring us.

The breakfast in December was amazing! The actually served REAL bacon unlike the rest of disney with the precooked crap. They had lox and all the food was of great quality. Characters were great as well! I would go for breakfast again!

I love it! My daughter however is a picky eater and wasn't as happy with the food selections, grandaughter was fine. We are going back becasue at Breakfast or Dinner we adore the character interaction. I was going to try Norway but after looking at the menu I felt it was a total rip off! Hardly anthing I would eat, mostly junk!!! Go and try for yourslef! I think if you are traveling with kids its a good thing!!!!:thumbsup2

we're not big buffet eaters with the exception of the occasional breakfast on vacation but we did 1900 park fare for dinner a few years ago. we put the food at so so for us, there was a good variety however i will give them that. the experience was the BEST character experience we've ever had. the step sisters were HYSTERICAL!

Me and my family absolutely loved the dinner. The food was very good but the entertainment and memories are something we'll never forget. I took my daughter to BBB before and she got so much attention as well as our table. I'd go back every time and I am a picky eater. Somethings you'll like and some you wont. Those little chocolate desserts were delicious and haunt my dreams. lol

My avatar is a picture of me and my daughter at 1900 PF.
