1900 Park Fare Too Scary?

Does anyone have a recent review or visit at 1900 PF with the StepSisters and Lady Tremaine? How mean are the characters? Is it a fun experience or should I "arm" DD with some insults to throw back at the characters?

My DD will be there for her 7th birthday and I've heard a few mixed reviews. Including one where the kids were crying hysterically! I don't want her or her 3 yo brother being upset on our first night at WDW!

Please comment asap so I can switch restaurants if possible. We're supposed to eat there on Mar 25th.

I've never heard of children being scared at 1900 Park Fare. My boys can't wait to go as they have peeked inside the restaurant almost every night last June!

I've heard the steps are rude yet funny. Like when a little girl from the next table was staring at them, the stepsitter made a funny/rude comment to the little girl. It's all in fun.

I've heard more children deathly afraid of Perla and Suzy at the castle than the steps at 1900 Park Fare.

I really wouldn't worry about it. It sounds like fun. We're looking forward to dining there this June.

I have not read that kids were scared either.

But please DO arm your kids that this is all in fun-- and watching the movie Cinderella will get them used to how the step sisters interact with each other.
I would think that a kid that is shy and gets hurt when people say rude things to them this would not be the place to take them to.

VERY GOOD idea!!

My boys have no idea who half the princesses are, they just love any and all characters. Lately I've been DVRing lots of movies from Toon Disney that they've never seen, yet the characters are all over WDW.

Surprisingly, the loved Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella III (the Prince is in this movie a lot! Good one for boys! ), and Dumbo.

They're mostly "Cars" and "Little Einstein" fans. The movies really helped since they know the rides and see these "original" characters at WDW.

Considering just how "mean" the Step sisters are, it's a great idea to have them watch the movie to see how they interact and that they are mean to everyone and each other, not just the children at the restaurant.

Another video that was highly recommended on the DIS to me was "Disney Land Fun" Sing a long DVD. It shows the characters singing, dancing and riding the rides at Disney Land with kids. This will get your little one very comfortable seeing the characters. My boys have both watched this DVD since they were infants and have NEVER been frightened by a character. They still love to watch this DVD (and I love the songs!)

We were there last Oct. and celebrated my niece's 6th birthday. It was absolutely wonderful! We had a 3 yr. old, 5 yr. old and the birthday girl and they all loved it.

I do agree if a child is very sensitive, I would warn them in advance that it is all in fun.

Consider this fact too, the characters change without notice. When we were at 1900 PF in August it was Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter, Tigger, and Pooh. You might not even run into that if you decide to go.

We were there in Nov. 08 and had a blast! DD is 3 and DS is 5. Even my son enjoyed it. The Stepsisters really make the show. I think they approach the little ones a little easy to feel them out. The one thing I would warn the kids about is that they scream to each other from room to room. I could see kids getting upset and possibly crying if not expecting that. They mostly yell "Mother... and then tell on the other sister" like in the movie. We really enjoyed it, hope you do too.

1900 is only Poppins at Breakfast, we did that one in December. Cinderella has dinner.

I DEF agree let them watch the movie so they understand that the sisters and mom are just not nice.

I say arm em w/ some silly insults though.

My son did get a little bit scared at stepmom- she "yelled" at him a little bit.
He wasn't sitting in his chair correctly and she said "Young man- that's no way to behave"
adn I told him that she was just pretending to be mean- and that he could tell her she was mean

He seemed to think it was silly that he could call her mean He kinda kept an eye on her from then on though. Just looked a little concerned.

i found some videos on youtube for dd to watch of the antics. Bc i told her we might be able to eat with them and she got scared and said she doesnt like the stepmother and her sisters lol so i showed her the video and she was laughing hysterically over it..i was so mad i couldnt get an ADR

DD3 and DS5 were a little put off of Lady Termaine at first...she is a little, umm, intimidating, but by the second pass through they were fine. They loved the step-sisters. The characters are very good about reacting to and with the children and "reading" them. I think the look of the characters are what caught my kids off guard...afterall, they went from all the pretty princesses to the "princesses with attitude."

Also... remember that if the characters are being too abrupt for your children, you can ask them to tone it down. I have always found the characters to be very respectful of parents wishes when the kids are getting upset... especially the face characters that are allowed to speak. You can also redirect the interaction to yourself as opposed to your children if they are feeling intimidated.

We did this dinner about 18 months ago when it was still Suzy and Perla there. My DD had a BBB makeover and went as Cinderella. She got lots of special attention from the characters, and Prince Charming asked her to dance! BUT... if your DD is easily intimidated, that may be too much for her too handle. I can only imagine the attention she would get from the steps if she went dressed up!

We went last month and the food was so bad but the characters were incredible. The step sisters where cracking up my 2 nieces, playing them against the other step sister...it was a blast...the stepmother was a very stern but funny woman, the 6 year old didnt get it but the 12.5 year old one did...there were so into character it was awesome!

I was very glad that we chose 1900 PF. We were taking our granddaughter (14 mos.) and son (15 y/o). I wanted to do something "princessy" for her but "not so princessy" for him (if that makes any sense).

The steps were terrific! I felt like having them there put lots of boys at ease. They spent a lot of time teasing the boys (in a good way). One of them kept telling Cinderella that she could have the Prince because she had found someone much better looking while hugging and "making googly eyes" at DS. She kept "flirting" with him and when Cindy came around she would shake her finger and yell at him for looking at Cindy.

I would never have thought that he would enjoy it as much as he did, but he had a blast!

Our granddaughter was never scared. She laughed at the steps and just couldn't take her eyes off Cindy. We didn't find anything about it scary.

We went there last year. I did not care for it at all. The step sisters got on my nerves bad. The food was a little fancy for me. I ate off the kids buffet. We will not go back this year.

1900 park Fare isn't scary at all. It is a lot of fun! The step sisters are hilarious! Your children would have a good time there.

Thats the breakfast crowd. Those characters have been at the breakfast for many years and rarely change. They might swap Snow White for Mary Poppins if she has to watch the children that day

We went there last September, and we loved it!!! It was hilarious when the step sisters made my oldest go up and dance in a group of little girls with her. I thought he was going to come out of his skin
