We are heading to WDW in January. It will be DH, our three boys, ages 14, 7, and 2; and our daughter, age 10.

This is a Christmas surprise so the kids are not having much say as to the schedule this time. We've eaten at 1900 Park Fare before, and enjoyed it. My daughter has met most of the princesses, however, she still enjoys one 'girlie' meal.

If you were to pick one of these meals (And only one) which would you choose? We are not overly picky eaters, but are not big on cold cuts/lunch meat. This is my one drawback to Akershus....Other than that, what can you tell me about Akershus?

Should we stick with something we know (1900 Park Fare)? Or should we venture out (Akershus)?

Thanks in advance,
Elizabeth

My daughter got to see Ariel, Belle , Jasmine, Aurora, and even Cinderella at Akershus, she was sooo happy
However besides the bread the food wasnt very good, like you said cold cuts and salad on the bar and the entrees were tasteless
The atmosphere was ok, but this time were doing 1900 Park fare
we really want some better food
however have heard some people thst love Akershus, I guess its just a matter of "taste"

We've gone to Akershus 2 times with DD, both times for breakfast character meals. We've really enjoyed them. We all like the food...it seems to us like a good American meal. I remember bacon, sausage... No cold cuts at breakfast! You should give the breakfast a try at Akershus.

I second the opinon for a breakfast at Akershus. It was awesome.:cool1:

We just returned from a long weekend and dined at Akershus for lunch and 1900 Park Fare for dinner. We've also eaten breakfast at both places. There is more variety of food on the buffet at Park Fare, and the strawberry soup is not to be missed as well as the yummy selection of desserts. Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremayne and the stepsisters were very slow to work their way to our section of the room at Park Fare, but once they got there we had fun interacting with them. I called Druzilla a brat and she cried and snitched on me to her mother, who insisted on an apology to her dear spoiled daughter. Once I apologized Druzilla was quite civil again. We did see her crawling under one of the tables in her Victorian gown, searching for something someone had dropped. Too funny!
Akershus has a more limited menu, but offers more princesses. We were 2 adult women and they all stayed in character and told us how charming we were and how delighted they were that we came to visit. The food wasn't as sophisticated as Park Fare, but it was still good. Check out the menus at Allearsnet and see if that influences your decision. You'll have fun at either place.

We did both on our trip this year and I have alreday booked ADR for both for our next trip. The food is better at 1900 Park Fare but the characters are better at Akershus. So its a toss up, do you want good food or good characters? I really think they should change the characters at 1900 Park Fare to include a few other Princesses!!!!!! But then again, maybe that will kill Akershus!:confused3
