1900 Park Fare Dinner?

As I mentioned in the thread "ADR for CRT", my 4yo granddaughter (DGD) is an absolute Cinderella nut. I've already secured our ADR for CRT on our first day at the park. My plan was to also get an ADR for dinner at 1900 Park Fare for our 5th day or so. Indeed, I had planned to have an invitation from Cinderella herself for both events, with the 2nd invitation saying how much Cinderella enjoyed meeting DGD.

But the reviews I see at allears.net for Park Fare since the renovation are not good. They seem to universally say the food is now pretty bad; though almost everyone still likes the characters. I guess that, since the object is to see Cinderella again, that should be enough. But I don't want to eat really bad food.

So, dear fellow Disney fans, what's your consensus opinion? Is it worth going? Is the food really vile?

Thanks for your help to a newbie on these boards.

P.S. The BBS software wouldn't let me post a link to the previous thread. I used the "Insert Link" tool on the editor, but it kept coming up with an error. Anybody know why?

If your 4-year old is a Cinderella fan, I say take her no matter what the food is like.

I've heard that the character interaction is quite good -- and if she loves the Cinderella story, how COOL to meet Prince Charming and the Steps. Not to mention some extra one-on-one cuddle time with Cinderella. That's what all of you are going to remember anyway -- and you'll get some great pics.

With such a vast buffet, surely there will be something tasty that you will like! :)

p.s. That is SOOO sweet that you are taking the time to do this for your granddaughter -- what a great grandfather you must be, and how lucky she is to have you. :) I think all little girls should be cherished in this way. Welcome to the DISboards!

I thought that the food was okay. It was buffet fare but I found things that I enjoyed as did the rest of my family. My DGD is 6 and she absolutely loved meeting the stepsisters so if I use her as a gage I would say the dinner is worth it.

I was just talking to someone who just went the other day and they said it was good. No better or worse than many of the other buffet's at Disney.
But they did rave about the Characters and how much fun they had.

Thank you all for your replies. I think all of you are right -- the most important part is the characters and the reaction of DGD. I'll go ahead and make the ADR.

And thank you so much Lisa (I assume, from themilesfamily) for the compliment. DW & I went to visit DGD (and parents, of course) last weekend. For various reasons, I hadn't been able to see her for about 4 months. She jumped into my arms, gave me a hug, and wouldn't let go for 15 minutes. I think there's no better feeling in the world than the unconditional love of a small child

My DW and I where at 1900 park in Oct of this year. The step sisters where a hoot. I thought the food was good myself DW said it was ok. But she is picker then me. I love the prime rib and the other food. The step mother was great too. Cinderella was some nice I tryed to say some not so nice things about her step sisters. She told me that there where so nice to her. She did not have a bad thing say about them. And Prince Charming was a gentieman about the step sisters and step mother. We had a ball with the 5 of them.:woohoo:

They are so much fun if you talk to them. My DGD asked Anastasia to show her how to curtsy. It was hysterical! She was Snow White and one asked if she could spare a dwarf, after all she had seven and a Prince! They were trying to entice the "available" men and bickering from one end of the room to the other. Then there is always Cinderella to discuss :lmao:

Your girls will have a blast!

This was our least favorite character meal and least favorite buffet of all that we've been to over 6 visits or so. Felt like we threw our money away.... at the time the food was bad and the character interaction was not good, but it very well could have just been the luck of the draw. This was about a year ago. Based on our one experience there, the food at other character buffets, Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys, has been a lot better.

We went last year as well and with the exception of one of the mice, our interaction was sketchy at best. The Character lineup has changed and the Stepsisters, Lady Tremaine, Cinderella and Prince Charming are there now. WE did need to ask the CM to check if one of the stepsisters could come by before we left because she missed us but other than that the interaction was very good.
