1900 Park Fare Dinner Opening time

We have an ADR for 4:30 at 1900 Park Fare. I read a review on allears that said no one was allowed into the restaurant until 5. Does anyone know if this is normal/common practice? I won't be happy if we arrive prior to 4:30, the Disney site says they open at 4:30 but then not be allowed to enter until 5? Plus, we are tying to make it to MSEP that night!

They open either at 4 or 4:30. If you were able to get a reservation, it's certainly more valid than allears.net. No disrespect to all ears, but their site has been anything but current the last several months. They have information on there that hasn't been valid since 2009.

Some of the monorail resort restaurants have been doing earlier openings for dinner at certain times of the year. I know 'Ohana has done 4:30 openings recently even though typically they don't open until 5:00. This appears to be what's happening on your particular day at 1900PF. On the reservation page on the Disney website, they'll show you the hours for the date you're trying to reserve. If you were able to book a 4:30 ADR then the restaurant IS open at 4:30.

We had both an 8:00 a.m. and a 4:30 p.m. reservations at 1900 Park Fare on our last trip and were seated just a couple of minutes after the stated reservation time. Sometimes it takes a couple of minutes for them to finish setting up and in the morning they did a grand opening type of celebration with a couple of young girls waiting with their parents so that is why breakfast was delayed a bit.

It's always a great thing to be among the first folks seated there. It seems less hectic and you can take in the atmosphere much more. Once the room fills up chaos ensues and it can be a bit chaotic.

We had a 4:30 reservation on our last trip. We got there a bit early and I'm pretty sure they opened at 4:30.

I did think it was a bit ridiculous though. We were completely crammed in the waiting area. The CMs kept telling people to stand along the wall (we were), but people kept pushing ahead so they would be seated first when they finally opened the doors. We would have gone out to wait in the lobby, but after we got our picture taken it was so crowded you couldn't even make it to the bathroom.

I really couldn't understand why they didn't just escort families to their tables as they arrived even if the food was not being served yet.
