We called during the day on 7/31 and we able to secure a PS for 7 pm to celebrate our son's 8th birthday. We arrived at the resort early, checked in and looked around the GF lobby. We were given a buzzer, which buzzed much more quickly than we thought it would! We had a lovely corner table and our server, Margaret came over to take our drink orders. She was a great server! We were told it would take 1 1/2 hours for all the characters to come around. The two mice, Cinderella, and Prince Charming were in the room. The Fairy Godmother was out in the lobby. The characters actually came right away and came multiple times during the evening. Great character interaction. Prince Charming danced with many little girls and treated them like real princesses! It was SO cute to watch.
As for the food, it was VERY good. We all agreed that the food was much better here than Chef Mickey's. However, CM has better desserts. They had a station set up with fresh pasta (2 different kinds - one with shrimp, asparagus, zita, garlic/cream sauce - very yummy). My DH LOVED the muscles. I enjoyed the salad bar, organic bread rolls, pasta, and prime rib. DS enjoyed the kids buffett - pizza, mini hot dog rolls, chicken nuggets plus I grabbed some veggies (corn, brocccoli, carrots) from the adult buffett. We all enjoyed the cold strawberry soup.
DS received an autographed place mat, prince crown (hat), and a cupcake with candle for his birthday. The Fairy Godmother gave my son some mickey confetti which he LOVED.
IMHO this dinner is a much more relaxed meal for visting with Cinderella than the breakfast in the castle. I saw some really magical moments, including an extended conversation that the Fairy Godmother had in the lobby with a little girl (aged 9?) after she was supposed to be leaving. It was really heartwarming to see.
After dinner we took a spin in the front car of the monorail. In the distance we could see the Epcot fireworks. My DS said with a big smile, this is my best birthday ever!
