1900 Loop

I know there was an earlier post regarding the 1900 pet loop, but I wanted to add to it. Just returned and I must say that I was extremely disappointed with this loop. It is extremely tight, with narrow sites, and will require you to be very careful when backing up. The sites are so narrow that you might as well forget about setting out under the awning next to your rig. Stepping off of your steps will find you on a dirty, sloping hill. This might be a hazard if your are elderly or handicapped. There is a dirt area behind the rig where you might be able to set up a grill or some chairs. There is really no place for the picnic table other than the dirt area behind the rig. Don't plan on moving it because it weighs a ton. I just slid it out of the way into the ditch next to the rig. The whole loop looked like a disaster area. Looks like they have been chopping down trees and underbrush. As for the pets, what is the extra charge for? I saw no "perks" for the pets. This loop is about as far as you can get from the marina. No cable, no Wifi, makes me wonder why the premium price. Don't let them stick you out there if at all possible.

Thanks for the heads up. I would definitely have a prob with the sloping hill. I have let them know my needs and hope they can accomodate me. I don't want to spend all afternoon swapping sites. I am praying for some pixie dust from the site assigners. :wizard:

Okay to each their own I know, but this use to be the only pet loop I'd stay in. You could find me there at least once a month! I personally liked the fact that it was away from everything and quiet, it made it seem more like camping to me and yet....you could still have all the ammenities if you wanted them. DH and I had a 28ft travel trailer and we never had any trouble backing it in (though I must admit my husband can drive a tractor and trailer). Our truck was always parked at the site as well in front of the trailer and at Christmas time I had the site decked out. We also use to have room to put out our awning, though I will admit that the cement area was skinnier than most. We always just backed it in as far to the right as possiable. We did not have a slide out and still don't, so that does help with the space issues. We also use to have a tent over the picnic area in the back where we'd eat out at, which was like a crushed shell or something like that if I remember right. We never had to worry about hearing the buses all night and or people or pets walking through our site (due to the embakment and brush that was mentioned) flaking the sides of the sites. We had an older male BT back then and he didn't mind using the embanked brushy area to go potty, but I am not so sure my new BT's would be happy with it. We always had lots of woodland animals come visit and I even use to bring a corn cob holder and corn on the cobb to feed the squirrels. I'd place it on the tree, and read a book and watch the birds and squirrels come and go. It was so peaceful and with our satellite tv and our bikes, we found loop 1900 to be our favorite location in the pet area. It also used to have the most tree'd sites and sometimes you couldn't even see your neighbor next to you, though it sounds like this might have changed. :( I'll be checking it out when I go back in a few weeks to see if this is something we may want to go back to. It would be cheaper than the preferred sites, though cable access is easier.

Oh well, personally I think for the right camper and someone who has a smaller travel trailer, pop up or tent it's a good choice. If you do love it though, it looks like you shouldn't have any trouble getting your request from the posts I have seen here lately. <BG> I will admit due to some of the limitations at this loop it is a good reason to make sure your reservation has everything noted on it that you can fit on it, like the size of your camper, how many slidouts, if you have an awning, if your not real confortable backing your camper or vehicle up, if you have a pet. The more the front desk knows the better the chance you'll have of them assigning you the site that's right for you and your camper. And, don't hesitate to rehiterate some of these things they can't visually see when you check in, like your slide out and awning capacities. If all else fails, as frustrating as it is to have to go back and get reassigned a site cause you can't get in it's nice to know they will at least honor that request.
Happy camping everyone!

mmketeer, I understand what you're saying. The last time I was at FW, about 10 years ago, I remember the exact things. You probably won't recognize the 1900 loop now. You can easily see all of the other rigs in the loop. This is one of the few places I've been where you don't have a level "porch" area next to your rig. Thanks for the memories.....

Hi lynndiwagon,

I am sure your right, and I am sure I am gonna be disappointed when I check it out in a few weeks. But, I am trying to stay positive. :) I am also hoping that their haven't been alot of other changes at the fort that I'll have to get use to as well. :( Though I know that's probably wishful thinking...

It would be nice to save some money and go back to the full-hook up even if it means I am spending more once again on Dishnetwork. Oh well, I guess it's a wait and see game for me, though I maybe asking your opinion for future site stays from you and your BT's. :) I still have Labor Day weekend to book and I might need to change our anniversary trip one too.

Anytime on the memories part....I have lots to share. :)
The countdown has now started for some new one........ <BG>

Dear MMketeer, I'm certainly not an expert on FW. Last time I was there was about 10 years ago with Kids. Kids now have grandkids and that would be the only reason we would go back. We do a lot of camping around the country, and FW was nicer than most, although Topsail Hill State Park was outstanding. After answering the review I received from DW in the mail they probably won't let me back in. My wife, the BTs, and myself are getting involved with Agility so that should keep us around this part of the country. Good luck.

I stayed quiet on the last thread about the 1900 loop also, but I also enjoy the 1900 loop for some of the same reasons that Mmketeer stated. Its extremly quiet and away from everything else. I mean FW is big, but come on, some folks make it out that its a day trip to get from 1900 to the TE. So you ride your bike for an extra 5 minutes or sit in your cart for an extra 3 to get to the pool. I thought that was part of the experience, to get away, relax and enjoy. Granted we only pull a large popup, but I've seen lots of folks in there with big rigs. Mmketeer, let us know what you see in a few weeks as we will be there in a little over a month and I was actually going to request the 1900 loop. From what I've been reading also, it seems there is not a loop affected by the mass clearing and it may take several years for privacy between the sites to return.

We have toured the 1900 lop on our golf cart and if I ever get that loop I am going to ask to be moved. It is super creepy at night.

I personally dislike the 1900 loop and would leave FtW if I were forced to stay in that loop. However....Mmketeer & Tandemteam like it... So there you have it folks... there's something for everyone at FtW!!!

I have friends that won't stay in any other loop but 100. I dislike that loop, too. Too much foot traffic from lookie-lou's staying at other resorts. Same friend in 100 had someone just walk in the door of their MH because the person wanted to see what the inside of a MH looked like!!!:scared1:

My favorite loops are 1600, 1700 for non-preferred, 300 for preferred.

Yeah,but I was drunk.

1700 is OK but when are they going to redo the comfort stations?

I am not sure where Topsail Hill State Park is, but with the word 'Hill' in it my guess is it's not here in Florida. LOL! We have never ventured out of the state camping, of heck what am I saying we never ventured out of FW last time we had a camper. Hubby promises me this time we will broaden our horizons (at least here in Florida), but that remains to be seen. LOL! Oh and don't worry they'll let you back in, I doubt that they even really looked at your feedback.... I am sorry to say. Besides you don't need kids or grandkids to go to Disney. :) DH and I have been married for almost 16 years and we don't have any (other than the 4 legged kind) and we love going to Disney and sailing on the Disneycruise! So, come on back lynndiwagon you don't even have to go to the parks to make a vacation out of your stay. :)
We'd love to met you and your BT's.
PS
I have a co-worker that has a big dog in agility, but I have never seen a BT doing it. Wow....that's impressive!

Thanks for speaking up tandemteam, I was starting to think I really was the only one. Heck, I have to admit when I requested that loop last time I always got it, so I guess that should have told me something. <BG> I think your right about the clearing thing and I am definitly planning on checking it, so I'll let you know. The deciding factor for us going back there ito 1900 is gonna be how good is their cable in the preferred area (where I am booked this time) or am I gonna want my premium channels on Dishnetwork back and is my kids gonna be able to go potty at their site on the Loop 1900. We don't have an awning yet, so the size of the site isn't even a factor for me. I'll keep you posted, matter of fact I may just post a new post all together on my thoughts when I return. If not I'll find this thread and post it here. :)

We prefer the 1700 loop. Each time we tour the 1900 loop we referred to it as the... nah, I better not say for fear of upsetting the politically correct. Lets just say we will not stay in that loop and would request a new site if ever placed there. :thumbsup2

The cable (IMHO) stinks - most channels are Disney or Disney resort related, and very few others. Bring your dish & receiver, and you'll be much happier!

As far as the "potty" thing... furry kids, I hope!?!

Mmketeer, Topsail Hill State Park IS in Florida. It is up by Destin. You need to get out.......

LOL! Don't worry they are of the four-legged version. :)

Thanks for the tv tip too...

Oh, gee I'll have to look into that then. :) I've been south for resort stays, but, haven't ever made it any further North than Steinhatchee. :) Thanks and your right....we do need to get out....but, how to convience hubby of that? LOL!

today we switched our loop preference from premium with all amenities, hopefully in the 300 loop to just a full hookup site in the 1600 thru 1900 loop preferred. I've never stayed in these loops before but did ride through them on our previous and only stay at the Fort year before last. I will take any site on the 1900 loop for a week rather than be at work.

He,he, Jim I certainly can't agree with you more with your last line. Course' I think anything is better than being at work. <BG>

PS
