When I booked our trip a couple of weeks ago the CM (Who was very nice and helpful) reminded me that I could book my ADR's 190 days out. I said "Oh, I know, the 180 + 10 rule" and he said guests staying on site can book all of thier reservations at 190 days out. I know that isn't the official rule, is it? Has anyone had any luck trying to book at 190 days?

it works, if you are staying onsite you get a 10 day jump on those not staying onsite and those who don't understand the way the system works.

Well, I am super confused now. The 190 days is 10 days of your vacation....not 10 days before you first day!

It is not that on site gets to book 10 days early. They just get to book their full stay (up to 10 days) all at the same time on the 180th day before their arrival

More exactly?
Our trip starts August 19th and ends Aug 26th
180 days before August 19th was 2/21/08
We were able to book all 7 days of dining ON the 21st of February
instead of waiting until 2/22to book Aug 20th dining (180 days before 8/20)
then waiting until 2/23 to book August 21 dining (180 days before 8/21)

ectera...

this is the way we were able to do it.

I was sure that was the rule (but thanks for the affirmation!), but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to book at 190 with a CM who didn't totally understand how the 180+10 thing worked.

We're going in July and my sister tried at 181 days out from our arrival date and was told that she could not make any ADR's. I didn't think she would but none of us were able to call on the 180 day mark so she thought she would try anyway. She must have gotten a CM that did know the rules. Anyway the good news was she called the next day and we got all the ADR's we wanted, including Le Cellier, at 179 days out.

It really depends on the CM you get. Some will only consider the fact that the restaurant has opened for ressies that day and will book for whatever. Others will make sure that you are at the correct 180 mark.

I know it can be totally confusing. So for example, I calledd at my 180 mark and made 10 days of ressies. We're booked at the Poly for 3 weeks but may shorten our trip to 2, either way we could not book all of our ressies at the 180 mark. When I was done with the ten the VERY helpful CM asked me what my 11th day ressie request was and I told her Le Cellier. She said, sometimes they open up the restaurants for ressies before anyone realizes it. She check for me and she said it was open! We checked for days 12 and 13 but no luck. Essentially what I am getting at is that if the restaurant is open for that date, some CMs will book it regardless. I guess I could have tried this from day one but I didn't.
