180 or 190 days out?

Ok, I'm confused. I thought that you can call for ADRs 180 days before your arrival date and make up to 10 days worth of ADRs. Now I am hearing people saying that they have been able to make all of their ADRs 190 days before their arrival date. Huh?

This onsite perk has been misunderstood by some guests and some CMs since it started.

The perk is that you can call at 180 days from check in and book up to 10 days worth of ADRs.

Does this perk mean if I am staying off site I am less likely to be able to get the ADRs I want because someone staying onsite can book the one they want 10 days before I can?

Just to get my head around it; I want booking for 22 Oct I have to ring 180 before 22 Oct, but someone staying on site rings up to book their ADRS 180 out from the start of their trip for example 20 Oct they can while on the phone book for 22 Oct.

Do I have to ring back each day I need an ADR for?

Does this system also apply to booking the cruises for wishes and illuminations?

Another question I have on ADRs is that our in-laws may join us on our trip but we won't know until after the 180 days has passed. I am assuming it is better to make reservations including them and change them if they can't make it when we know. Does anyone know if this would be a problem?

In that recent thread about that guest who complained about not getting a table at Kona Cafe when they were full even though him and his family were staying at the Polynesian, someone said at 190 days out guests can only make ADR's for the restaurants in the Resort they are staying at. Then at 180 days they can make the rest of the ADR's they would need.

Those staying onsite can book their whole trip (up to 10 days) with one phone call. You would have to call daily, if they are popular restaurants that is.

They hold back some tables for those staying offsite though so you will still be able to get ADRs.

Really? Disney holds back tables for offsite guests? Even for popular restaurants like CRT? Hmmmm didn't know that.

Especially for CRT. I have first hand experience with CRT. called at 180 days from check in and didn't have any luck so I called back at 180 days from when I actually wanted to eat there and I had a few times to choose from.

If you think about it, it's only fair. If they didn't, then those staying offsite would never get to eat at CRT.

I can concur, especially with CRT, but I think it is done elsewhere as well (its just less of a problem to be noticed). Only a subset of tables can be booked at the 180+10 window. The rest (or almost all the rest) are opened up at the 180 day mark.

Otherwise, there is some unfairness even among those staying on site. Say, if I'm going for 5 days and you are going for 7, but you check in two days before I do, then you get a two-day booking advantage over me - even though we are both staying on site.

Makes perfect sense. I will keep that in mind when I'm making my ADRs for August. If I don't get an ADR I want at first, I'll try again.
