OK.. Booked our first Disney cruise today for the Mexican Riveria on May 28th. :bounce:

Our oldest daughter will have turned 18 on May 19th. We are also traveling with our other daughter who will be 16. It occured to me that the teen club only lists ages to 17. Both girls will be devastated if they cannot enjoy time together at the teen clubs.

My question is.... first, do they check ages for the teen club or can they just show up and participate? and if they do check will they make an allowance since she is only going to have been 18 a week?

I am REALLY hoping this doesnt put a huge crimp in what the girls can do together. My 16 year old won't want to go alone to the teen clubs, and my 18 year old won't feel comfortable going to the adults clubs. They want to spend time together!

Thanks!

I'm sure others can speak from experience, but I don't see where this would be a problem, especially where she's just within a week of her birthday. They do know the ages, so I would suggest that you speak to a CM on the ship. There isn't really a signup, more of an open house at the beginning of the cruise. Just stop by then.

DCL usually doesn't have a problem with an 18 YO enjoying the Teen Club. What they usually do though, is ask the 18YO to not enjoy the adult areas of the ship if they are in the Teen Club. So, if your 18YO won't miss the adult clubs, Palo, Spa, Cove Cafe, etc there shouldn't be a problem. You can't have it both ways, being able to hang out in the teen club and then enjoy the adult areas.

asked if he could be in the Commons, and they said as long
as he just graduated from high school. Next year will be
another story....

I'm glad to hear this because my son is a senior in high school and will turn 18 in December. We are taking his girlfriend with us and she will still be 17 when we cruise (2/13/05). I was hoping they could both go in the Teen Club.

Looks like it won't be a problem. Also looks like DH and I will have go to Palo alone - oh well!!!! :teeth:

Thanks for the info!

We planned this as a family vacation, DD 13 and DS 17 checked out the clubs, didn't care for them so we stayed together 24/7, something we can't do at home. I was great to be their friends for a week instead of mom and dad. I think they discovered mom and I are pretty fun people when we're not telling them to do homework, chores, or clean their room!!
