Thanks for the pics. Was wondering where this was going to be. Any new updates or pics?

It's going to be in the Lost Continent area of the park. Where those piles of dirt were, it is now a gigantic framework of a building.

HP world will be done in sections. Hogwarts and Hogsmead village will be finished by 2010. The forbidden forest and anything else will be done in 2011.

Flying unicorn is supposed to close by september and be turned into The Flying Hippogriff. What is the flying unicorn? my guess sorta like dumbo?

There is a lot of work going on beside Flying Unicorn where Hogwarts looks like it will be.

No, Flying Unicorn is a smaller kid-friendly coaster, similar in size to, say Goofy's Barnstormer.

I cant remember the website but I saw it like 2 months ago online about all the updated info for HP. Plus I also got an email from universal studios a couple months back. I signed up for the updates on the HP universal studios website. I dont have the email anymore, but I can try to see if I can find that website. But since its been a couple months they most likely dont have that update on their site anymore unless they have a spot for old updates. I look around and post the link if I find it.

Sorry I got the years mixed up. HP world is supposed to open 2009, early 2010 with phase 2. That makes more sense, cuz I remember telling DH we need to go to FL in 2010, not 2011 - DUH! :lmao:

As the story goes, once Phase One of "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" opens in 2009 (FYI: That phase of the project will probably only include Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade Village. Phase Two -- featuring the Forbidden Forest and that Weasley-family-flying-car attraction -- isn't expected to come on line 'til sometime in early 2010), this new "land" will then allow Universal to offer yet another after-hours seasonal event, " Halloween at Hogwarts." So while Mom & Dad are next door at Universal Studios Florida getting the snot scared out of them at Halloween Horror Nights, their youngsters can be trick-or-treating in a deliberately scare-free environment over at IOA.

Speaking of which ... "The Flying Unicorn" is expected to shut down sometime in September of this year. So that this IOA attraction can then be transformed into "The Flying Hippogriff." More to the point, so that work can finally begin on Hagrid's cottage.

Just to let you know there are a couple other sites I found reporting the same info.

Early this month, we noticed what appeared to be some type of wooden bridge that was contructed towards the lagoon, maybe connecting Jurassic and Lost Continent? If was covered heavily with foilage we couldn't figure out exactly what it was. It was just exciting to see progress.

Damo- Where were you when you took those photos? We will be visiting again July 4th week and I can try to get more photos.

Those pics were taken from Flying Unicorn.

No wonder I didn't see that part of the construction earlier this month. It was only DH and me and DH doesn't like thrill rides. I will make sure I try to get updated photos on our July 4th trip. Your photos turned out great for taking them on a roller coaster.
