Love that Gingy story!

Can't wait to hear about the cruise portion of the trip.

Hey - Doesn't Little Prince have a birthday coming up? (or recently past?) :goodvibes We need pictures!

I have enjoyed your TR so much. You have a great family. I hope that all of those "men" in the family spoil you rotten, because you seem to spoil them with wonderful adventures & memories.
I look forward to hearing about the cruise.

Yep here is the website,,,it has amazing gifts,,,foods and everything you
need everyday and for the Holidays!!!!!!

http://www.worldmarket.com/custserv/store_locator.jsp

:cool1: I'm on my way to World Market!!!!!!!
OH,,,AND TRUST ME,,,,THERE ARE ABOUT 1,000 THINGS THAT THEY OFFER
THAT ARE NOT ON THE WEBSITE,,,,,DON'T GIVE UP.....CALL THEM!!!!!!!!!

P.S.....as all of us on the Dis agree,,,,you have a beautiful, loving
family,,,and you do an amazing job planning these
"lasting memory" vacations.....
Happy Holidays:flower3:
Thanks a lot! I ended up placing an order (I think I might have a shopping addiction). However, food products were not available for internet purchase. Oh well, I found some great things even without it. Thanks again!

Wow - the roof view is simply amazing! What an awesome memory for the boys to have (and for you of course)! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear about the cruise!
That view was incredible. I never imagined such a great vantage point was only a few floors above me all vacation long. ;)

Whoa! I kinda got behind on your TR!

- Jaycns
A priceless moment! You would have missed it if you chickened out. Stitch is a great kid. :thumbsup2
I love all the pics, especially from the balcony and the roof. Congrats on being the flag family. That is so cool. I'm sad to see you leave WL but excited to see the cruise.

Thanks for sharing the story about the dachshunds. That was cute. I have 2. They are characters! They never lose the puppy part.
;)
I would have missed that fun if I had chickened out but I am fairly certain I would never have gotten on without my seven year old helping me to be brave. :rotfl: He's so much fun. Getting to take part as the flag family was a real treat. Disney has a knack for making the ordinary extraordinary. Our minutes on the roof were truly spectacular (and not just the sights either).

Ah ha!!! Gingy has been caught! Good job Stitch! I love the whole Gingy story line! :thumbsup2
Hey, we have a World Market right here near us. I think I will go check it out for stocking stuffers, haven't been there for a while. They have an amazing assortment of international food/candy.
Gingy was up to "naughty making" last night. He left socks out all over the living room and then hid among the real gingerbread cookies in the kitchen. ;)

Love that Gingy story!

Can't wait to hear about the cruise portion of the trip.

Hey - Doesn't Little Prince have a birthday coming up? (or recently past?) :goodvibes We need pictures!
Very soon. In just about a month, he will be a year old. How quickly time passes. To think that this time last year we were on pins and needles about his health and I was on steriods to up his lung maturity and on full time bedrest...well, it's hard to believe all of that was only a year ago. Then again, it's hard to believe he has changed so much in the short time we have had him as part of our family. He is already walking, climbing up stairs (has no idea how to get down yet), crawling, pulling himself up on short chairs, saying a few words and loving learning to operate all of his different toys. He has grown so much. *sniff sniff*

I will post birthday pictures when they get snapped. :) Thanks for remembering Barb!

Ha ha ha, I don't know if they know my definition of spoiled BUT they each have their own brand of sweetness that I do get spoiled with. Even dh spoils me...he just doesn't do it the way most people do. He does things like unload the dishwasher so I can DIS or throw in the wash so that I can head out just a little earlier with friends or show up in the middle of the afternoon (on a day he would normally be working) and take me out for lunch and a movie. All of that being true, I won't hold my breath that any of them ever figure out how to set something up at WDW. :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

My dh is just like yours - he'd do anything FOR me - but it's usually practical stuff. . . However, there IS hope, Jay. All they need is a helpful fairy grandmother ;-) Did I ever tell you how dh redeemed himself for a botched 25th anniversary? Can I just say rose garden event in the Magic Kingdom?

Day 9...Let the Cruise Begin!

We had departed from Orlando about a half an hour past the time we normally would have due to being the flag family.

We still arrived WAY before they started boarding...however, we were definitely not in the first group to go after the suites. We were in group number 5. The way DCL boards the ship is to pass out numbers as you enter the terminal. That way you can go about your business, checking in, getting your kids' club beeper, buying snacks, relaxing, etc WITHOUT having to worry about standing in a huge long line to board.

Going through security was NOT my favorite part of our cruise. I had all four boys because dh was parking the van. I was trying to get all of my stuff through screening while holding a wiggling (and poppy diapered...thanks for choosing that moment in time to do your business) baby and pushing a stroller that was holding stuff instead of our baby. I was holding him to try to keep him from starting to cry (who can blame him for being unhappy sitting in that). To say I was feeling a bit stressed was pretty accurate. **TIP...Do not try to get through security by yourself with an infant, all of your carry on stuff, three other boys and a stroller. Do yourself a big favor and wait for your spouse to help schlep through it. **

Finally we actually entered the terminal and I ran for the bathroom so that we didn't stink anyone out of the registration line (and so that my poor baby would have a fresh diaper after waiting for almost 10 minutes to get through security with a not so fresh one). Once I had that taken care of we saw dh. He grabbed our boys and took a seat. We got the very last large groups of chairs (remember we had 11 in our party at this point when you count our friends family). Here you see Goofy and Cinderella excited that they were just about to embark on a high seas adventure.

While dh was holding down our claim on the chairs, I made my way to check in and then to pick up our kids' club beeper. Lucky for me, I was able to get the boys' attention and call them down to me when I realized that you needed your kids to get the beeper (they had to put bracelets on them and match the beeper number to the tracking bracelet on the child). **TIP:Take your kids with you to the kid club's sign up area.**

By the time I got back, they were already starting to call boarding pass numbers. Before long...our number was called and we were really on our way!
WDW08189.jpg

How I love those golden Mickey ears! Walking under them means that we are about to sail off on one of the happiest ships on the seas.:cloud9:  This was our third cruise aboard the Disney Magic and all of us couldn't wait to get back on board!

Here is a quick look at all of the crowds behind us. SCARY! I am glad that we were getting out of the terminal before it got even more jam packed. **TIP: ARRIVE EARLY! There is debate on this advice but I think it's sound. You get to the terminal in time to secure seating (a hot commodity as the time to board draws near). You get an earlier boarding number which lets you get on board and to the venue of your choice for lunch (each time we have cruised I have seen long lines waiting for us (the general us, as in those who had boarded first) to leave Parrot Cay before they had room to be seated). It also allows you to get over and book spa appointments that you didn't prebook, book Palo meals that you were not able to prebook and be done BEFORE everyone else makes their way over to those areas.** Now here is that look behind us. :scared1: And yes, the people were almost wall to wall behind us.
WDW08190.jpg

How much do I love this?! When you walk over it...you are almost 'home'!
WDW08191.jpg

And seeing this sign made us all smile miles wide.
WDW08192.jpg

Here you see Stitch (acting like a goof ball), Snow White, Cinderella and Goofy on our way into Parrot Cay for lunch. Parrot Cay is one of two places open for lunch on embarkation day. We chose to eat at Topsiders our first cruise. It was nice...but Port Canaveral is not the most scenic of ports, FL is HOT and muggy for deck sitting and although Parrot Cay is also a buffet, they wait on you as far as drinks. That is a big help when you have all of your carry on luggage in tow. So, for us, Parrot Cay is our top choice for our first lunch onboard.

Most of the same foods are offered both places. Peel and eat shrimp, crusty french bread, salad, Greek pita wraps (VERY GOOD), pasta salad and even a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie rounded out my plate. There was a large assortment of goodies to chose from and all of us left totally satisfied.

While we were eating, Mrs. Friend went to check on a Palo brunch. They were all taken. :( We were sad, but she put us on a waiting list and we hoped for the best. I had previously tried to sign up in the middle of the night as soon as our booking window opened up. I had no luck then either.

Once we finished up our meal, we left Parrot Cay and walked past the long line of people waiting to be seated. Once past the line, I left dh with Mr. Friend, our boys and their kids. Mrs. Friend and I were on a mission...we needed to make spa appointments! :woohoo: I already had an exotic rasul, alone time and a pedicure booked. I wanted to add in a reflexology massage, scalp massage and manicure. I was lucky enough to be able to add everything I wanted and was even able to cancel the pedicure I had scheduled for later in the week. My GF spa pedicure was still looking great and I would rather enjoy the other offerings at the spa.

When we were done booking our spa appointments we collected our husbands and kids and headed down to check out our state rooms. :woohoo:

Here is our Little Prince exploring the pack and play that was already set up in our room.

He gave it his seal of approval. ;)

To be continued...

The cruise looks like so much fun! Always chaotic embarking on a cruise, even moreso since 9/11.

The kids look so excited. How cool they will all be together for this! :goodvibes

I was so happy to see that Master Yoda was along for the trip! :thumbsup2

I love how you enter through that golden Mickey head! :goodvibes With all those smiles, you can tell how excited everybody is!

And wow! You tried to book Palo when your booking-window opened and even back then, it was all booked?! That food must be REALLY good! Can't wait for more, Jay!

I can't wait for this half of the TR.:goodvibes I've always wanted to go on a cruise, especially a Disney one.

Oh...I would love to hear all about it! Actually, I am on pins and needles to hear about it! Please share. PM, email, post...even phone. I love surprises (and that includes hearing about them!).

Day 9...Let the Cruise Begin! Part Two!!

I last left off with us heading to our staterooms. We had two connected staterooms and for our family, it's a good fit. We slept with the three older boys in one room and ourselves and the baby in the other. It really worked out well. As we were settling in, I looked at the clock and realized it was time for me to sneak off for my first spa treatment. I was scheduled for a manicure before the mandatory safety drill. Dh said that he and the boys would just do a bit of exploring while I was getting my nails done. All of my menfolk said about their adventure is that they once again found an arcade and that they had fun doing it. Dh said that it was the perfect time to visit the arcade because it was totally empty while everyone else was busy checking out the ship.

Back to my manicure. Although I loved every other service provided by the spa onboard the Disney Magic I was mightily let down by their manicure. :sad2: By the time I went to bed that night great huge strips of the polish (I had clear put on, so at least it wasn't that horrid looking) were peeling off. The procedure itself was very relaxing. Or at least it would have been without everyone and their mother's sister's uncle's cousins touring the spa facility. It's sort of hard to totally relax with people touring the spa and looking at you getting it done. I don't mind people looking at me...but when I am there to just relax and zone out and be pampered...I don't want to be on display.

The manicure itself came with a sea salt exfoliation of my arms and hands and a mostiruizing milk bath massage for both of them also (very nice!). My therapist was very good and very nice. She did a good job shaping my nails (although they really didin't need much as I had just had a manicure at the GF Spa a few days before). When I left the spa, the only thing that had sort put a damper on my experience was the many people touring the spa. The only thing I would have needed to do to stop that from being an issue was to have the service any time other than the first day onboard. **TIP-Do not schedule salon services (hair or nails) the first day onboard unless you don't mind a constant stream of looky loos.**

It was only hours later when my nails started to peel that I went back to complain. A professional manicure should last beyond a few hours! Later in the cruise, Snow White (the teenage daughter of our friends) had a pedicure (different therapist) and it too peeled within a few hours. I would suggest not wasting your time on nail treatments while onboard. There are so many other WONDERFUL spa services offered. Invest your time and money in those instead!

As soon as my nails were done, I hightailed it back to our room to see if our luggage was at the room yet and found that it was. I started to unpack while I waited for the guys to return. About fifteen minutes after I started unpacking, my guys showed up. They were back from the arcade and the boys watched the Disney Channel on the tvs while dh and I continued unpacking. Very shortly after they got back it was time for the mandatory safety drill.

Dh and I put on our beautiful life vests. NOT...we looked like pork sausages in bright orange wrappings...but in the event we did need to actually use them, I wouldn't have minded one bit. After donning our sausage wrappings, we helped the boys into theirs and headed for our meeting point. Lucky us, our meeting point was inside of the Walt Disney Theatre. SEATS! YES!! Way better than having to line up on deck in the sweltering heat with the sun beating down on you and those hot life jackets on. Especially for our littest cruiser. It is here we discovered the only other thing (besides the Mickey ears) that our Little Prince did not enjoy. He LOATHED the baby life jacket. And these pictures are proof.
WDW08199.jpg

WDW08198.jpg

Although he hated it, I thought he looked pretty darn cute in it (when he wasn't bright red in the face from screaming his disapproval). I cannot say that I blamed him. It was H-O-T on the ship during the drill. I know the drill is for a good reason, better safe then sorry but it's always my least favorite thing aboard the ship.

While that may have been a nesacary yet not so much fun time, what I did next was the oppisite. I walked back to our room, deposited my lifejacket in the closet, helped dh get our Little Prince out of his torture aparatus (aka the baby life jacket) and then gave dh a kiss and headed back to the spa. This time I was going to get a reflexology massage. Ahhhh! Total and complete bliss! I had booked this massage upon boarding so it was eligible for a $20 discount (any service over $80 that you booked and had performed on embarkation day was $20 off). Reflexology is an Eastern form of foot massage believed to impact your entire body. Some people swear that it provides relief from sore backs, hip pain, etc. All I know is that it was the most relaxing massage I have ever had (even when compared to a full body massage). Not only did it feel heavenly, but the massage therapist was incredibly nice and we chatted away about her South African home. She would have stayed silent, but I was enchanted with hearing about where she was from and she picked up on that and was happy to oblige. She even wrote down the names of some family friendly game reserves in case our family was looking for another sort of vacation in the future! Being as that this service was preformed in a private treatment suite, the flow of people through spa didn't have a negitive impact on my time there. When I was done, she told me to lay down and relax for a few minutes and she brought me a cup of icey cold lemon infused water (she gave me my choice of that or hot tea). I was in such a relaxed mood that I didn't bat an eyelash at buying expensive stress relief bath or stress relief massage oil at the end of my massage. I know that some people have had 'hard sells' for products during their services but I actually had to ask about buying the products before she suggested any. :thumbsup2

As I walked back to our room I stopped to take this picture...as I was enjoying my massage the ship was getting underway.
WDW08200.jpg

By the time I made it back to the room, dh had finished up most of the unpacking. I was so happy. I thought I was going to have to unpack and then hurry up and get ready for dinner (which was only about 45 minutes from that point in time). Instead, I walked in to a room where all of the boys were dressed and ready for dinner and playing Uno together on the bed in one room while dh and our Little Prince were curled up napping together in the other room. I quietly woke dh up and put the LP in the pack and play to continue his nap while dh and I got ready. About twenty minutes later we heard giggles coming from the pack and play so we grabbed our LP, threw him into his dinner clothes and made our way up for our first dinner aboard the Magic.

Would we like our servers? Would the food be everything we remembered it to be? Would anyone get sick from the motion of the ship (always the worst on the first night at sea due to the currents you have to cross)? What was to come after dinner? All of these and more questions will be answered in the next update. ;)

I'm SO looking forward to the cruise report and am loving it! LP looked too cute (as always) in that lifejacket and the titles you put on your photos are very clever. Do you use Photoshop?

My brother learned reflexology from his father-in-law - a well known practitioner in Malaysia – who has apparently cured everything from infertility to cancer with reflexology. The parts of the foot correspond to various organs and areas of your body so I must be in pretty bad shape compared to you because I cannot say the treatments are exactly relaxing for me. Even though my brother puts very gentle pressure on specific "points" of the foot, I find it can be very painful. It feels great when it's done and I'm sure it's good for me - but it's not relaxing what I'm squirming in pain, :confused3 .

I'm very interested in hearing about your meals on board and wonder if you were given any recipes by the chefs?

Yeah I'm so glad you've finally gotten to the cruise! your reflexology massage sounds wonderful!!

Yay! The reflexology massage sounds so great!!! Like you, I agree that the worst part of any cruise is the muster drill, but I know it has to be done. However, LP did look adorable in his baby jacket! I'm so excited to hear more about your cruise. DH and I have been on 7, but have not been on DCL yet. :goodvibes

Loving your report as always Jay. I love that picture of the ocean that is my favorite part of cruises looking out at the sea. I don't think I will ever be able to afford to go on the disney cruise with 3 kids unless my mom comes and I just say one of the kids is with her. I always here rave reviews about the disney cruise line can't wait to read more.

YAY The Cruise....I want a foot massage. That is on the list for my first day on our anniversary cruise!

Great updates! I would love to go on the Disney cruise. We had it booked for October but we ended up switching to a Grand Gathering at Disney with our friends. We booked a Cat 6 and was looking forward to relaxing on that balcony. Maybe next year for our Anniversary :goodvibes. For now I love hearing all about your cruise portion of the trip. Poor Little prince having to wear the life vest in the heat. I will make sure and get my nails done before the cruise ;). Can't wait to hear about your first dinner!

So far the cruise sounds amazing, the crowds looked big though

What a pity about your manicure, I hope they refunded you in some way, the reflexology sounds nice though. I had that once and my stomach rumbled for hours afterwards, goodness knows what the reflexoligist pushed :rotfl:

We are in the midst of a major ice storm here, so reading about the cruise is helping me take my mind off this horrible weather and make me daydream about beautiful warm sunny days! Ahhhhhh :cloud9:
