Day 9...A Morning to Remember (Part 4)
After giving us our own time to enjoy the views, Ranger Don took us on a tour of the roof
lmao: ). Actually, he led us around the roof and explained what we were seeing. We could see all four of the parks. We could see (off in the distance) downtown Orlando. We could see all of the green areas that remain yet undeveloped within Walt Disney World itself. The views were amazing. And Ranger Don's comments, stories and knowledge made it even more enjoyable.
Here is a picture of my men with Ranger Don.
And here are two pictures he tried to snap of our family. He is very quick on the shutter.
The first picture he took is while we were still getting situated.
After he snapped the first one, I knew we didn't have a keeper...so I asked him to snap another one. He was once again happy to oblige...and very quick about it. At least a few of us were looking/smiling in this picture.
Make note of that beautiful castle in the background...ahhh...what a view!
And then after one last look around we were led back down the stair cases and out on to a very small overlook of the interior of the lodge. We could see the main lobby and even a part of the club lounge's sitting area (see the tv screen on the top floor and the tables with people at them...that's one of the sitting areas from a bit above it). I stopped to snap a few pictures but this is the only one that even half way turned out. I really wished that I had better photography skills right about then. It was a great vantage point of the lodge's lobby!
Ranger Don led us back down to the club level and invited us to make ourselves at home there and enjoy the food/drink offerings while relaxing. What a special treat for someone not staying at the club level. I bet it's very exciting to get a taste test (pun intended) of the club's offerings. What fun! But...we had already stuffed ourselves on room service and we had explored the club area earlier in our vacation (like within the first few minutes
). However, we couldn't resist grabbing a drink and sitting down for a few minutes to appreciate the beauty of the WL one last time.
Before Ranger Don had left us to enjoy the club lounge, he told us to go to the concierge desk on that level before continuing on our way. He said a special flag family certificate would be waiting for us...and it was.
After thanking the club CMs who were on duty at that time and telling them how wonderful their thoughtfulness had made our vacation, we headed down to the main lobby and out of the WL for the last time. It had been a beautiful place to call home for the past 9 days. But now it was time to move on to our next destination... THE DISNEY MAGIC!
Before I got ahead of myself (ha ha ha) I did stop and take a picture of the flags we had raised, only a short time before, flapping proudly in the wind.
This picture stinks...but I am including it because it was a really neat feeling to look back up at the flags and know that your family was the ones who had raised them that day.
Goodbye WL! It was time for us to get in the van and venture just a bit further south and east. We were headed for Cape Canaveral, FL. Home to the Disney Cruise Line terminal where we would be boarding the Disney Magic for a seven night western Caribbean cruise. We were very excited to be moving on to that leg of our journey. Joining us once again on a cruise adventure would be the same good friends who we had enjoyed our dream day with. We called them as we waited for the valet to bring the car around and they were waiting for us as we drove by the Poly. They turned on to the road and we caravanned for the short trip from WDW to DCL's terminal.
In less than the time it took to watch a Disney movie, we were pulling up. Here is our first glimpse of the ship that would be our home for the next 7 days.
