Day 8...DHS Part 2
Just before the doors popped open she asked us to step into the empty row. We did (with big grins). We thought we were going to get our own private Star Tour! How cool would that have been?! Turns out we were wrong...
When the doors opened up, there were already two "people" waiting inside. Two all white from head to toe people. TWO STORM TROOPERS!!
Even better then a ride by ourselves, we got to experience Star Tours with our own escort of Strom Troopers! Talk about excited!

I think I may have floated in! The boys on the other hand shot a few nervous looks at the Storm Troopers as we walked in past them and buckled ourselves in to the middle of the front row. The Storm Troopers buckled themselves in on either end of the row and like good guests, stowed their blasters in the bins under their seats.

Seriously, they did. Once they did that, we listened to the safety briefing with them eyeing us up to make sure we were listening the whole time. They were totally in character. During the ride,
Goofy kept a hold of my hand and kept looking from one Storm Trooper to the other all during the ride. He is my cautious one for sure!
I guess
Stitch had been working up the courage to say this for the entire ride because as soon as the ride was over and we were unbuckled, he jumped up out of his seat, walked over to the Storm Trooper that was still getting up, looks down at him and says "Just so you know, I am not afraid of you, Master Yoda could beat you with his hands tied behind his back. That means you are not so tough at all! I have learned lots of tricks from Master Yoda too, you better not try anything funny!" I couldn't stop myself from laughing. I am pretty sure I heard a chuckle from underneath all of that white plastic too. A seven year old spit fire just challenged an armed Storm Trooper. How telling is that about his personality?
What a great surprise to start our day at DHS off right!!
After our second ride,
Stitch wanted to find a Master Yoda of some sort to buy. He looked high and low for the perfect Yoda toy. What he came up with was a 'Master' Yoda backpack. It was really too cute for words (although it was apparently not too cute for a too large price tag). Even though it was pricey, we let him go ahead and pick it since he was so serious about his quest for the perfect 'Master' Yoda. When I got it up to the register I remembered that I didn't have my KTTW card, cash or anything else to pay with. So we had to get out of line and go and find dh outside, get my KTTW card and head back inside to purchase it.
It was such a cute backpack. It looked like 'Master" Yoda was getting a piggyback ride!
And look at him peeping over
Stitch's shoulder. How adorable is Yoda? And apparently he provides protection too. Right after I took this picture,
Stitch says to no one in particular, "Just let those Storm Troopers try something now, Yoda will take them out!"

Maybe he was a bit more worried then he let on about his time with them.
Next up we made our way over to Muppet Vision 3-D. We all enjoy this show. My boys are big fans of both Jim Henson's Muppets and his Fraggles as well.
A happy little guy with his new best friend getting a piggyback ride.
As always, we laughed and groaned our way through the show. It doesn't have the best effects of any Disney 3-D show (I think that Philharmagic does) but it does have a great cast of characters and a very unique brand of humor that is a trademark of all that is Muppet. I really wish that the Muppet Show was still on TV. How big of a geek does that make me?
This flowering tree was very beautiful. I felt the need to snap a picture.
Next up for our family? The Great Movie Ride!!
The longest line of the day was for this ride. I think we waited about ten minutes.

I do love going to Disney in the off season!

Even better, I love touring Disney in the off season while following Tour Guide Mike's advice!

If you haven't yet given Tour Guide Mike a try, I highly recommend his planning site! I love his least crowded park daily guide. He has never steered me wrong!
We are considering The Great Movie Ride as the site for our vow renewal dinner. YES, in the ride! I read that it's possible and although I am sure the price tag is scary, I have been waiting many years to have the reception of my dreams and I cannot help but thinking of how amazing it would be to have my dinner IN a Walt Disney World ride! But that dream is for another trip report...suffice it to say that I did a lot of dreaming while we round our way through the ride.
We had one more thing to do before it was time for lunch, the boys had been looking forward to meeting Mater and Lightening McQueen...they were not disappointed! Although our
Little Prince did fall asleep while we were waiting in line to meet the cars. He is fast asleep in this picture.
Are you wondering why we hadn't used our fast passes for Toy Story Mania yet? Well, it's because our fast pass return time was between 5:35 and 6:35!

We wouldn't be knocking that one off of the list before lunch for sure!
Lunch today would be somewhere new for us. We would be dining at the Hollywood Brown Derby.
I had been looking forward to this meal and it did not disappoint. Our server was terrific (we gave her a 25% tip if that tells you anything)! The food was great. The atmosphere was upscale yet totally relaxing and comfortable at the same time. I look forward to dining here again. Warning, I have a lot of food pictures from this meal!
To be continued...
