17 Days of Wishes Come to Life- A Sept. 08 WDW and DCL Adventure 3/27 new link posted

Oh no I'm now going to have to wait a week to hear what happened next :hyper:

Poor LP how funny that he doesn't like the Ears :rotfl:

JAY!!!!!!! - You can't just stop there!

:lmao: Come on, missy - spill it, what happens next?!

Day 8...DHS Part 2

Just before the doors popped open she asked us to step into the empty row. We did (with big grins). We thought we were going to get our own private Star Tour! How cool would that have been?! Turns out we were wrong...

When the doors opened up, there were already two "people" waiting inside. Two all white from head to toe people. TWO STORM TROOPERS!!

Even better then a ride by ourselves, we got to experience Star Tours with our own escort of Strom Troopers! Talk about excited! :woohoo: :yay: I think I may have floated in! The boys on the other hand shot a few nervous looks at the Storm Troopers as we walked in past them and buckled ourselves in to the middle of the front row. The Storm Troopers buckled themselves in on either end of the row and like good guests, stowed their blasters in the bins under their seats. :lmao: Seriously, they did. Once they did that, we listened to the safety briefing with them eyeing us up to make sure we were listening the whole time. They were totally in character. During the ride, Goofy kept a hold of my hand and kept looking from one Storm Trooper to the other all during the ride. He is my cautious one for sure!

I guess Stitch had been working up the courage to say this for the entire ride because as soon as the ride was over and we were unbuckled, he jumped up out of his seat, walked over to the Storm Trooper that was still getting up, looks down at him and says "Just so you know, I am not afraid of you, Master Yoda could beat you with his hands tied behind his back. That means you are not so tough at all! I have learned lots of tricks from Master Yoda too, you better not try anything funny!" I couldn't stop myself from laughing. I am pretty sure I heard a chuckle from underneath all of that white plastic too. A seven year old spit fire just challenged an armed Storm Trooper. How telling is that about his personality?:rotfl:

What a great surprise to start our day at DHS off right!!

After our second ride, Stitch wanted to find a Master Yoda of some sort to buy. He looked high and low for the perfect Yoda toy. What he came up with was a 'Master' Yoda backpack. It was really too cute for words (although it was apparently not too cute for a too large price tag). Even though it was pricey, we let him go ahead and pick it since he was so serious about his quest for the perfect 'Master' Yoda. When I got it up to the register I remembered that I didn't have my KTTW card, cash or anything else to pay with. So we had to get out of line and go and find dh outside, get my KTTW card and head back inside to purchase it.

It was such a cute backpack. It looked like 'Master" Yoda was getting a piggyback ride!
WDW08032.jpg

And look at him peeping over Stitch's shoulder. How adorable is Yoda? And apparently he provides protection too. Right after I took this picture, Stitch says to no one in particular, "Just let those Storm Troopers try something now, Yoda will take them out!" :lmao: Maybe he was a bit more worried then he let on about his time with them. :lmao:
WDW08033.jpg

Next up we made our way over to Muppet Vision 3-D. We all enjoy this show. My boys are big fans of both Jim Henson's Muppets and his Fraggles as well.
WDW08031.jpg

A happy little guy with his new best friend getting a piggyback ride.
WDW08034.jpg

As always, we laughed and groaned our way through the show. It doesn't have the best effects of any Disney 3-D show (I think that Philharmagic does) but it does have a great cast of characters and a very unique brand of humor that is a trademark of all that is Muppet. I really wish that the Muppet Show was still on TV. How big of a geek does that make me?

This flowering tree was very beautiful. I felt the need to snap a picture.
WDW08057.jpg

Next up for our family? The Great Movie Ride!!
WDW08055.jpg

WDW08056.jpg

The longest line of the day was for this ride. I think we waited about ten minutes. ;) I do love going to Disney in the off season!:thumbsup2 Even better, I love touring Disney in the off season while following Tour Guide Mike's advice!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 If you haven't yet given Tour Guide Mike a try, I highly recommend his planning site! I love his least crowded park daily guide. He has never steered me wrong!

We are considering The Great Movie Ride as the site for our vow renewal dinner. YES, in the ride! I read that it's possible and although I am sure the price tag is scary, I have been waiting many years to have the reception of my dreams and I cannot help but thinking of how amazing it would be to have my dinner IN a Walt Disney World ride! But that dream is for another trip report...suffice it to say that I did a lot of dreaming while we round our way through the ride.:cloud9:

We had one more thing to do before it was time for lunch, the boys had been looking forward to meeting Mater and Lightening McQueen...they were not disappointed! Although our Little Prince did fall asleep while we were waiting in line to meet the cars. He is fast asleep in this picture. ;)
WDW08036.jpg

Are you wondering why we hadn't used our fast passes for Toy Story Mania yet? Well, it's because our fast pass return time was between 5:35 and 6:35! :scared1: We wouldn't be knocking that one off of the list before lunch for sure!

Lunch today would be somewhere new for us. We would be dining at the Hollywood Brown Derby.
WDW08053.jpg

WDW08054.jpg

I had been looking forward to this meal and it did not disappoint. Our server was terrific (we gave her a 25% tip if that tells you anything)! The food was great. The atmosphere was upscale yet totally relaxing and comfortable at the same time. I look forward to dining here again. Warning, I have a lot of food pictures from this meal!

To be continued...

Excellent update Jay! You're right, that Yoda bookbag is just too cute for words!! :thumbsup2

Day 8...DHS Part 3

Once we were seated and had placed our order, I took some time to look around the dining room. It was really cool in a retro/vintage sort of Hollywood way. I liked it. I really liked the dark wood paneling. That along with the curved arches of the doorways really made it feel vintage/retro to me. Sorry I didn't get any really good shots of the interior.

Here are a few shots of the boys awaiting our first course.
WDW08042.jpg

WDW08039.jpg

A laughing baby is always a happy sight!
WDW08041.jpg

Our two youngest relaxing after a hot morning in the park.
WDW08040.jpg

We didn't see many other tables with kids at them. I thought that was odd for a park restaurant.
WDW08038.jpg

And now, on to the food!

Aladdin started off with the coconut fried shrimp. It was served with Asian pear and chili sambal (chili peppers and salt) topped with citrus infused soy dipping sauce and garnished with cucumber and mint. He really enjoyed this dish. He said that it was a bit 'hot' for him but he enjoyed it a lot anyway.
WDW08044.jpg

Dh went with the braised boneless beef short ribs. They were served with lentils, caramelized cipolini(a small flat onion), and gremolata (garlic, parsley and grated lemon peel). He thought it was very good.
WDW08045.jpg

Goofy and Stitch both went with the carrots and celery with dip as their starters.

I chose the cold water lobster corn bisque. It was topped with truffle crème fraise and snipped chives. It was a very tasty bowl of soup. I really liked dipping the bread they brought to our table in it.
WDW08046.jpg

I guess we should have made our dinner reservations for seven since Yoda decided to join us.
WDW08048.jpg

Aladdin chose the agnolotti pasta with rock shrimp. It was made with artichoke hearts and fried peppers tossed in extra virgin olive oil and shaved garlic topping. Once again, Aladdin gave his meal two thumbs up.

Goofy and Stitch each chose to have a hot dog (their absolute favorite food on earth). You can see that Goofy really did enjoy his meal.
WDW08047.jpg

Their hot dogs came with french fries. You can see our Little Prince laughing (in a very mischievous way) while trying to reach out and grab another french fry off of his brother's plate.
WDW08043.jpg

Dh and I both chose the same thing. We picked the grilled rib eye steak. It was served with arugula, crispy sweet onions (YUM!), gorgonazola, red potatoes and an oven dried tomato vinaigrette. This was a VERY good dish! Both dh and I agreed that it was a very tender cut of meat and the flavors they used really mixed well together.

Dessert for Aladdin was double vanilla bean crème brulee with a dark chocolate dipped biscotti on the side.
WDW08050.jpg

Dh went with a strawberry cheesecake on a shortcake crust with strawberry Grand Marnier caramel. He said it was very good.
WDW08051.jpg

Goofy and Stitch each chose a really fun dessert. They picked
'Hidden Treasures'. That dessert was vanilla ice cream, Oreo cookie crumbles, gummy snakes (aka gummy worms), and a Toll House cookie. I didn't get a great picture of it. But it was a really fun presentation.
WDW08049.jpg

And I saved the best for last. My delicious dessert. I had the banana white chocolate toffee tower. It came with a cocoa almond cookie and a bananas 'foster' sauce as topping and it also had a chocolate drizzle on it. YUM! I very much enjoyed every bite of this dish. It was a very tasty.
WDW08052.jpg

It was a very tasty meal. And on the deluxe dining plan, we had the extra credits to make it possible to have a two credit meal for lunch without having to skimp later on in the day. Our family plans on returning to the Hollywood Brown Derby during our next visit to DHS. We all really enjoyed the meal.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Great update! Loved it! I was never sure if I'd like the Brown Derby but now I think I should try it. How cool was it to have the storm troopers on the ride with you! And loved how Stitch told them off!

Just also wanted to share a little experience about the Indy show. When they first introduced the Pal Mickey's, me and my older sister Nooshkin got one. He told us to check out the little "dig site" outside the show and to pull the rope. We did and it was cool that we heard people digging below the hole. While we stood there going "Oh cool!" a bird decided to give me a "present"! 2 inches from my hair! Now I've heard that it is lucky when a bird does thatbut it sure as heck isn't fun! To this day I avoid that display just in case of another dive-bomber.

How lucky that you guys got to ride Star Tours with the Storm Troopers. I have heard about that dream before, sometimes even Darth Vader comes along for the ride! The boys reactions are too funny though. I would have busted out laughing when the troppers got told off.

Oh my gosh, how funny that Stitch confronted the Storm Troopers! And how cool that you got to ride with them! :cool1:

I LOVE Stitch's backpack - that is too cute!

The pictures of the LP laughing at lunch are adorable, he looks like such a happy baby (except when he's wearing those dreaded Mickey ears :rotfl: )

Hi Jay! Your update was so great! I LOVED reading about the character interaction at Star Tours... and the "tough guy" coming out of Stitch. He must be an extrovert! ;) That was very brave of him to take on the Storm Troopers! I'm glad Master Yoda had his back for the rest of the day, just in case.... ;)
We really enjoyed our time at the Brown Derby just like you did. Great food, service, atmosphere... definitely! :thumbsup2
I am with Aladdin and your dh, DHS is my favorite park, Epcot is a close second! The atmosphere and movie element is well done.... actually all of Disney is well done!! :wizard: It's all good!

Your last park day has started of great! Love the report. The Brown Derby is one of my parents' favorite restaurants...next to Narcosee's!

Can't wait to see how you like Toy Story Mania!

Till Next time...popcorn::

I'm finally all caught up with your updates. I have been spedning tons of time on Dis with all this holiday stuff/ shopping along with the kids regular activities ;) .

Anyway sorry about your DVC tour  that really stinks. We got left wating at the car pick up sot at MK for over and hour. Guess they overbooked appointments that day too. Of course they were so apologetic and our sales rep did everything to make it right when we arrived at SRR so that part worked out for us.
I loved the Birthday surprise in the room. Cool that WL made it extra special and the cake you ordered looks yummy. I enjoyed your WL pool pics too. We are booked for there for our October trip as we haven't been there since 2003. Loved your HS update and pics! Cool that the Storm troppers rode ST with your family :thumbsup2. Stitch's yoda backpack is so cute. HBD is our list of new places to try next time. I have so many excellent reviews and those food pics are great. Waiting for more popcorn:: .

Just for the record - I WAS RIGHT!!! :woohoo: I knew it was the Storm Troopers!!!

LOVE Stitch's response to the troopers. How cute was that? I would have busted a gut listening to him.

What a great backpack! How fun!

We are considering The Great Movie Ride as the site for our vow renewal dinner. YES, in the ride! That's a great idea! I think i've heard of 1 other event at GMR but it was so long ago it's just "legend" on the wedding board! :rotfl:

Too funny about the Storm Troopers. I wuold have loved riding with them! And the Yoda backpack is adorable!!

Question....do you feel like you missed a lot of park touring time because of all your sitdown meals? How long of a stay would you recommend before doing the DxDDP? More than a week?

Jay, my boys would of been jumping up and down in delight if two Storm Troopers rode with us on Star Tours.

We had our own bit of pixie dust on Star Tours. We had a lovely Dream Team member trying to help us locate a silver monorail pin for DS #1. We couldn't locate one so she asked us where we were off to. We replied Star Tours. She walked over with us and on the way, mentioned about a "Flight Check" to us. She told us that if it could be arranged, that DS #2 who was too short for the ride could ride on it because they would show the movie but not move the simulator! We arrived and she radio up to the control room to see if we could have a "Flight Check". They said yes and we were on our way! You should of seen DS #2's eye during the movie. He said it was his most favorite moment of our trip. After our flight check, a very nice CM checked all the monorail pins (he had baggies full) in his pocket but he didn't have any silver ones. He arranged for DH and DS #1 to walk right back onto the ride right there for another ride. He told me that after that ride I could switch with DH so DS #1 could ride again!   DS #1 was in Star Wars heaven! After all 3 rides, the CM presented us with a card signed by all the Cast Members. What a great way to end our last day at WDW!!!

Jay...WHERE are you??? I leave for Disney on Friday and I have yet to receive my detailed touring plans from YOU!!!!! ?????? :rotfl2:
I sent you a PM but just in case you missed it...I am offering up this tiny off topic tidbit-Call, PM, IM or email me before you go! :thumbsup2

Welcome back! Hope you had a great week off! can't wait for the next segment!
We had a nice time while we were at my in-law's farm. Of course, it's great to be home as well. ;)

OH, COME ON!!!!

popcorn::

I have an idea of what is to come, but don't want to mention it. :rolleyes1
How do you guess everything?! You must have BarbSP! :rotfl:

Oh no I'm now going to have to wait a week to hear what happened next :hyper:

Poor LP how funny that he doesn't like the Ears :rotfl:
HA HA HA. I did update right away just for you my dear. ;) I hope you are safely in the air and on your way to WDW right about now. See you when you get back!

JAY!!!!!!! - You can't just stop there!

:lmao: Come on, missy - spill it, what happens next?!
I know, I know...what a mean place to stop. ;) But I guess I am getting way to into surprising people. It is starting to creep into every part of my life. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Excellent update Jay! You're right, that Yoda bookbag is just too cute for words!! :thumbsup2
I love that Yoda bag. He sometimes wears it to the mall or church or he even wore it to the pumpkin farm. Every single time he wears it, someone asks where he got it or says how stinkin' cute it is. I think he secretly loves the attention. I will really miss it when he gets too 'grown up' to enjoy wearing that silly piggybacking Yoda!

Great update! Loved it! I was never sure if I'd like the Brown Derby but now I think I should try it. How cool was it to have the storm troopers on the ride with you! And loved how Stitch told them off!

Stitch saying that to the Storm Trooper is one of my favorite examples of his personality. He does indeed live up to the mischievous gleam in his eyes. He didn't get his Disney name, Stitch, for nothing!

It was so much fun to have the Storm Troopers ride with us. I was totallly surprised. I had no idea they ever did that! All of us were very excited about our special time on Star Tours. That was a really magical moment for us!

How lucky that you guys got to ride Star Tours with the Storm Troopers. I have heard about that dream before, sometimes even Darth Vader comes along for the ride! The boys reactions are too funny though. I would have busted out laughing when the troppers got told off.
I had no idea that was a "dream" that was offered. I am glad I didn't know, it made the surprise all that much more fun! I did laugh so hard. And I swear, that at least one of the storm troopers was laughing inside of their costume, I distinctly heard chuckling going on. How neat that some people get to ride with Darth Vader as well. Maybe it's better we didn't see him, who knows what Stitch might have felt he needed to do to him.:lmao:

Oh my gosh, how funny that Stitch confronted the Storm Troopers! And how cool that you got to ride with them! :cool1:

I LOVE Stitch's backpack - that is too cute!

The pictures of the LP laughing at lunch are adorable, he looks like such a happy baby (except when he's wearing those dreaded Mickey ears :rotfl: )
Can you believe those Mickey ears made him so mad? I have only seen one other thing make him that angry, and it will also make an appearence in this trip report. ;)

He truly is one of the most happy-go-lucky people I have ever met. I hope that one day, I can learn to be as calm, happy and go with the flow as he is. Although I do NOT want to develop his odd hatred of Mickey ears. :rotfl2:

Him telling the storm trooper not to pull anything is one of the funniest things I have ever seen him do. Aladdin was loving every second. Goofy was worried about being blasted. And then you have Stitch, thinking of a way to put those 'evil' storm troopers in their place. How funny that the boys had such very different reactions. The one thing they all had in common was just how much they loved their special ride on Star Tours!

What did you have to eat at the Brown Derby?

Stitch is either a complete extrovert (when he is in the mood to interact) or he wants nothing to do with anyone and can give a glare that stops you in your tracks. :rotfl: He is a child that is very 'extreme' in most things. Thankfully, he is obedient and really does want to be good. If he didn't...I shudder to think of what it would be like!

And you are oh so right, Disney is very well done!

Your last park day has started of great! Love the report. The Brown Derby is one of my parents' favorite restaurants...next to Narcosee's!

Can't wait to see how you like Toy Story Mania!

Till Next time...popcorn::
I really enjoyed Narcoosee's last year. It was another great meal. I would like to take my boys there next time we make it to WDW (our last meal there was dh and I only).

I'm finally all caught up with your updates. I have been spedning tons of time on Dis with all this holiday stuff/ shopping along with the kids regular activities ;) .

I guess that any system can have a flaw in it...but you would think they would be very careful about overbooking and leaving peopel hanging for over an hour in any spot (pick up, presentation room, etc). It really has a way of putting a damper on purchasing desires.

I think that Stitch's backpack is one of the cutest kid's thing we picked up while on vacation...it was also one of the highest priced kid's things. :rolleyes1

Just for the record - I WAS RIGHT!!! :woohoo: I knew it was the Storm Troopers!!!

LOVE Stitch's response to the troopers. How cute was that? I would have busted a gut listening to him.

What a great backpack! How fun!
How did you guess?!:cool2: You are too cool!:cool2:

I was bursting at the seams with laughter. It's a good thing I had taken a 'potty break' just before our rides! :rotfl2:

That's a great idea! I think i've heard of 1 other event at GMR but it was so long ago it's just "legend" on the wedding board! :rotfl:

Too funny about the Storm Troopers. I wuold have loved riding with them! And the Yoda backpack is adorable!!

Question....do you feel like you missed a lot of park touring time because of all your sitdown meals? How long of a stay would you recommend before doing the DxDDP? More than a week?
Was that Janet2K's vow renewal dinner? I have to admit, she is who I am 'borrowing' the idea from. That and I cannot think of any other ride that Disney could serve a dinner inside of. Hopefully I am juts blanking out. If anyone has any ideas...PLEASE let me know (post or PM). Janet2K was also a big part of the inspiration behind the special day at the GF. She did a private dinner at the Summerhouse. It was very different that what I ended up doing, but it was the seed that planted the idea in my head. :thumbsup2

I don't think we missed a lot of park touring because that was our only rest period really. We didn't go back to our resort during the hottest part of the day or anything, we just used the sit down meals as our break times. Even when we aren't on the deluxe dining plan, we spent a great deal of time at sit down meals at the park. Then again, we did end up skipping three of our park table service reservations. Although only one of those was skipped in order to make more time to do things in the park. Another time we just had our fill of the park and were heading back to the resort early instead. And the last time we just didn't get to the park in time (the day we were on "The Great Shorts Search of 2008" ).

I think that if we didn't go at such a slow time of the year, that the meals really could start to eat into our park time. With such low crowd levels, we were able to pack a whole lot of fun into less time than normal without any lines to speak of for the most part. HTH.

What a great moment for your family. And that card must be such a special keepsake for you all! It's amazing how small gestures can make your entire day (or even vacation for that matter). I love the magic that Disney sprinkles all around! It truly is a magical place because of the focus that all (or almost all) of the CMs have on making every vacation the most special vacation possible. The little thoughtful things they do, the extra lengths they go to, the friendly conversation they share, all of it adds up to a very magical experience indeed!

Aw that Master Yoda backpack is adorable!! And a private ride with the storm troopers - how cool! I had never heard of that happening before. I also have never heard of having a reception dinner in the GMR! I hope you do it for your vow renewal so we can hear all about it :teeth: I think that would be so fun - as long as I didn't have to eat my dinner with the skeletons or under the alien :scared:

 Yes it was!! And her summerhouse dinner was wonderful too!! I think she may have done an Alice in Wonderland Tea party too. I know of 1 recent bride who had her reception in FOLK! Now that was cool!! private meal and a private show! the only problem with having it inside the ride is how LATE it's going to have to be. even on early closing days, 7pm, give them 3 hrs to clear out the park and set up, it's 10PM before you have your reception! Almost as bad at the 9am starting for inpark ceremonies!

How did you guess?!:cool2: You are too cool!:cool2:

I've read a number of your TR's and you give really good clues. I guess I'm more observent in cyper space than I am IRL!

Could you please send my kids a note telling them how cool I am? ;) :lmao:

Hugs ~ Barb

P.S. I also know why you took that particular photo by the Indiana Jones Theatre. :rolleyes1
