I am thinking about a 16th Birthday party for my son. I have never been to Dick's Last Resort, but I hear it can be fun. Do they keep the fun age appropriate? I think a bunch of 16 year old boys would have a ball there. There would be no girls. :)

Oh heaven's! It's a man's name!

I think I'd save that one for his 18th birthday. I've seen kids there, but no, they really don't make it any less raunchy just because there are kids there. Let's just say that they use words on their paper hats that would become asterisks on disboards. Also, women take off their bras and staple them to the walls. What you might be ok with, the other parents of 16 year olds might not be ok with.

That's exactly what I needed to know. I had seen where some friends had posted on FB taking their kids there, but I wouldn't want to risk offending the other kids' parents, or embarrassing any of the kids. They are all good kids. I think I will find another place.

Do your son and friends like Paintball? That's always a good place to hold a party for teenage boys. They could spend hours playing if they don't run out of ammo.

How about a Dave and Busters instead? Kids that age seem to enjoy it with a group of friends.

My son did not want a 16th birthday party. He asked for the money I would spend on the party instead ( we gave him money for his gift , too.) He was able to afford do a lot of things over the summer. He used it in the fall to pay for Homecoming, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions. There is a Gameworks near the restaurant I was asking about. I thought I would give them each some money to hang out there. he seemed pretty happy with that idea. He has gone there a couple times with friends whose parents did the same thing. Here is x amount, bring more if you want to play longer. They are a pretty laid back bunch. I also considered lazer tag but paint ball is an interesting idea too. We have several of those around here. I'll look into it.

I will add that my son rarely asks to have friends over. We have a smallish house and some of the others have big finished basements to hang out in. So I wanted to treat him and his friends so that he could be the host.

I see you have already made up your mind about the original posted restaurant choice. I don't blame you. I just wanted to add (for anyone else considering going there) that the food is TERRIBLE too.
