Tuesday. Temp 65 and Sunny but slight chance of rain.
This was the day when all 16 of us would be together! Our friends were arriving from NJ this morning and would meet us later at the Beach Club for the Clam Bake and then for the Illuminations Cruise. I had their room all checked in for them so all they had to do was go and pick-up their room key passes. We were all located in Cabana 8A in corner rooms over looking the lake at the CSR.
We all decided to go to MGM today. SOme of us split tup after we got there. We did meet for luch at the Commissary. We went to see the B&B show and during the show something weird happened...the sun disappeared and the temp. dropped to 40 degrees with strong winds in a matter of 30 minutes! I am not kidding. Everyone was shivering, but lucky for us we packed extra clothes, hats and gloves and we just had to go retrieve them from the locker! You should have seen the people trying to buy hats and gloves!
We decided after lunch to go back to the rooms for a nap. This felt good. Went to the Pepper Market and had coffee and let the kids play in the arcade. We then got picked to be the host family to lead the congo line to light the Christmas tree but we had to decline since we had PS for the Clam bake at hte same time they wanted us. They took our name and said they would call us later in the week to do it! Sounds like fun. More on this later as a big surprise in store for us!
We meet up with our friends at the BC and got seated in about 30 min. at seperate tables. They were far apart. From that point on I made it a special effort to make sure we were seated close even if we had to wait! The food here was great and eveyone enjoyed themselves. My DD picked up the tab for our imediate family and told us to enjoy! That was very nice of him. By the time we finished we had a little time to waste until we met at the BC Marina for the Cruise. We walked to the YC and they were having a story time in the lobby.
It was all decorated like a little Christmas Genral Store and a kindly man was dressed up as a conducter and he was narrating THE POLAR EXPRESS. It was so good and the kids were all curled up on the big rug on the floor. At the end he gave each child a beautiful Christmas Jingle Bell on a wide red satin ribbon to wear around their necks.
By this time we were ready to meet some fellow DIS'ERS I had invited from these boards to share our cruise. It was COLD! One family of 4 phoned the Marina to say they couldn't make it because they did not have winter coats. We had 2 boats that held 12 people each. A lovely mother from TX with her daughter joined us and a wonderful family of 4 from Alaska came also! I was glad to share the cruise but dissappointed it was so cold. They did give us plenty of blankets and just as we were headed under the bridge it started to spit and slightly drizzle. Thank Goodness we were covered. As always it was a breath taking show and we had a perfect view and our captain said last week the wind blew all the smoke over to the boats so you could barely see the globe or the fireworks. She said this was one of the better nights. Except for the bone-chilling cold, I took her word for it.
After getting to our rooms, I had hot tea and 3 blankets and slept in my flannel PJ's with my slippers on. It took me half the night to warm up.
I am usually a hot person but recently I have lost 100 lbs. and now I have no meat on my body to keep warm so LOL I am always cold!!!!!
It was another good day and tonight it is supposed to break a record for low temp. 28 degrees!
Tomorrow EPCOT in the morning and PS at Mama Melrose for FANTASMIC!
