16 month booking?

I got the e-mail, and we're already booked and under contract, so it must have been random in regards to who it was sent to :confused3

That's great news for all those 2011 Wishes couples!! Exciting!

I think DFTWs is realizing that the waiting until 8 months out sometimes for a confirmed date really turns people off.

I got one too! I'm emailing Diane since I scheduled my site visit through her. It would be awesome to actually have a set date in August of this year for a November 2011 wedding! :goodvibes

We want November as well! What is your date/location? I am just so excited!

Does anyone know if this applies to the convention center rooms? I am only a week away from booking but I would LOVE if I could also book the Whitehall Room at 12 months.

I didn't get the email...I wonder why some people did and some people did not?

I'll try emailing my consultant, but I emailed her a question on Monday morning and still have not heard back. Frustrating when I can book next week but don't have all my questions answered!

Like you, I haven't received an email, and I've also emailed my consultant but as of yet had no reply. Really want to get excited about this like everyone else but feel like I can't yet.

We're hoping for 11/10 in the afternoon at the WP and GF. How about you? :)

I just got an email back saying we could have our date, time, and venue on July 10 which is the day we arrive for our Disney trip and 5 days before our site visit! :scared1:

I told her what time, date, and venue we definitely want for our ceremony and cocktail hour but I have no idea where we want our reception to be at in the GF because I don't really know what my options are at the GF regarding prices, head count, etc. Nervewracking!

I got the email, and an email from my WC, and I have Ariel's, so I would bet you are good to go!

Okay, I got an email back from my coordinator! You can sign your contract for your date and space at 16 months out now..if you are a convention center bride--like myself you have a hold on your date and space at 16 months but go to contract at 12 months. So they do the lottery at 16 months and its yours...but you cant do contract until 12 months out (only if youre a convention center bride). Make sense? Its still a little gray to me, but I think I get the gist of it.

In the 4 months between 16-12 can a convention come in and book leaving you without a venue?

Thanks for the info! :goodvibes My planner was out of the office today and her assistant booked a conference call for tomorrow. I hit 12 months in a couple days and really want the Whitehall Room but a convention is tentatively holding it. I'm super curious to find out if I can book it and send in my deposit/do the contract since the convention hasn't "officially" booked it yet. I HATE this waiting/wondering game. I think I need some pixie dust to get the Whitehall Room :lmao:

Yes they can, it would be the same as how it used to be with the 12 - 8 months. You're pencilled in at the 12 months, and confirmed at the 8 months. Now though, you're pencilled in at 16 months, and confirmed at 12 months.

Surely if they haven't booked it officially by the 12 months then it's fair game. :confused3

I hope so! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

:scared: This part of the process, to me, seems the most nerve wracking!

I asked how the process really works and Pam said that you sign a contract at 16 months for your date/venue. But if a convention comes in and needs it before your 12 month period your kicked out. Some reason this doesn't make sense to me, because if were signing a contract saying this is our date how can they let someone else kick you out?:confused3

I think it might be better if they kept it the same if they are going to do that to people.:confused3 Cause many people will think they have that date and then later might find out they don't. Doesn't seem logical to me?!

Yeah that's stupid, why would you sign a contract at 16 months out, if at 12 months and 1 week you can be bumped? :confused3

Ugh, when I go to my site visit in July, I hope to get this all straightened out in person! So confusing! :sad2:

The impression I got today when I talked to my consultant is that you can contract at 16 months if you are using a non-convention center venue (like ADH or a theme park). If you are using a convention center venue, then you are penciled in at 16 months and contracted at 12 months. I think it's basically the same as it is now, we are just dealing with 16/12 months rather than 12/8 months. Does that make sense? At least that's the impression I came away with :thumbsup2

Thank you! :goodvibes

Even though the convention is not officially booked, I still could not book the date I wanted. I had to move my wedding date up one day - but at least I will get to use Whitehall Room and book it at 12 months! I think it's pretty stupid that the convention gets to hold it when they aren't sure they're going to book or not!
