150 Point People - How do you use them wisely?

Actually, this is an issue I have never struggled with. I do the Sunday to Friday thing and stay Friday night at Universal. I am not picky as to what resort I stay in or what size the villa is (unless my parents tag along).

I did want to add on instead of always being in the "borrowed" state however, my husband feels it is not necessary. His thoughts are that we go down alot not because our children our young. In a few years, they will not be interested in going yearly so, he says borrow. He thinks this is why Disney gives us this option.

I guess he's right....We have gone 1-2 times per year for the past 4 years. I would imagine in a few years the kids will want a break and we will go somewhere else. Then the points will catch up and will will actually be in the good in our point balance!

You can get quite a few nights out of your 150 points is you use them wisely.

That is a good idea. We are taking that ap-roach too. The when we only go down once a year the points will be enogh for a week during the breaks. Once DS gets into grade school and we see how he does we may have to switch to higher season travel and then we may need more points.

With careful banking, you can arrange a week every other year in a 1-bedroom.
You can go every year and stay in a 1 bedroom if you work it out right.

Go standard at BWV(or OKW), then 1 week costs 160 to 172 for Adventure or Choice seasons in a 1 bedroom.

Borrow the xtra 10-22 points for that years vacation. The next year, borrow again. This will work for 6 to 8 years before you need to take one year off.

Then you take the one year off, then start up with the borrowing once again.

2005 will be our 'year off' to let our points catch up. It will also allow our 'money' to catch up!

Our 150 points have brought us a lot of joy, and will bring us a lot more in the future! We will have 49 points for the 2005-2006 (April use year) and plan to do a 4 night Disney cruise in March of 2006 (spring break) with two nights stay at BCV in a studio (Thur/Fri--leaving us with 3 points to bank).

After that, we will look at doing 5 nights each spring break in a 1 bedroom at either BCV or VWL. That come to exactly 150 points! If we want a 2 bedroom sometime, those same 150 points during spring break will get us a unit at OKW.

Our spring break is always in March, so when Easter falls during our spring break we will skip that year (like in 2005) to save up some points.

A studio and a one bedroom will not change your trip. Do you need a hot tub? How much time do you spend in the room. Do you need a bed separate from the other part of the room? We have a family of 4. Two kids. The studio was fine, we went to see family over the weekend so we saved some points. We banked them and enjoyed a second week at the SSR. We started with 150 points and now have 270. My guess is that you will be fine with the 150 if you use them wisely. My guess is you will want longer stays and that might mean buying points.
