Linda!!! Now just look at you! You come here to share your frustrations and don't even give us time to PEP you up before you turn right around and cheer all of us up!!! HALT!!! We'll have none of this magnanimous gesturing going on until we get to cheer you up!!!
The good news: DD will be looking for a job after the first week of you driving her to school with curlers in your hair and Ponds Night cream all over your face and oh, yeah, don't forget your most obnoxious robe and slippers!

Cats have nine lives...one tooth won't even phase them! :)

Okay, for the job problem...I have no wisdom for this one...I would either find ways to cut my budget at home (I cut out cable television for 5 years...and really LOVED not having it!) and we just switched from BellSouth to a cable phone where EVERYTHING is $22 a month tops!!! Long distance, caller id, call messaging, etc. That alone saves me $600 a year! I think it might be too stressful to juggle two districts unless you could give each a specific set of days so as not to overlap.

Well, I hope ya feel better and if all else fails...go develop those pictures from the Disney trip!!! That'll perk ya right up!

Kathy, I'm just gonna say it...you work too much sweetie!! I want to hear about a hobby or a long weekend you enjoyed without taking the work with you!!! I still can't get over you working at Disney! That's just robbing Mickey and Minnie of your precious personality!!! :) So instead of eating a "Take 5" ....do a take 5 and thoroughly enjoy 5 minutes of doing something just for you...then increase that to 5 hours then work up to a big 5 day excursion with NO work! :) I know you're thinking impossible...but I bet it could be done! :)

Haley, Haley, Haley...nothing too exciting?? HOGWASH!!! Living with a 3 year old is far from dull!!! :) You can share a multitude of fun stories with us! That's such a great age where things just come out of their mouths and you just stare at them trying to contain your giggles! :) So feel free to share your day no matter how small you think it is...it'll give us all a lift to share in your moments! AND WAHOO!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: 2 pounds is a GREAT loss!!!! That is a red letter day!!! And BBQ really is not that bad for you...it's all the creme pies and fruit cobblers that seem to get the best of ya..so stick to your meat and veggies and you'll do fine! GREAT TO HAVE YOU HERE!!!

I'm back to my "power walking" it took us only 1 hour 7 minutes to walk 4.3 miles...and boy was it ever humid!!! I'm sooo sweaty, but I am appreciative of having my drill sargeant neighbor set the pace again...the last few days I could tell I was losing my speed factor. I just ate a "mini-banana" they're the cutest little things...they're about 3 inches long and look just like a miniature banana! I can never eat a regular banana...just too much nanner, I guess...but this was just 3 bites and it was pretty good! :)...I'm about to scramble two eggs and then I'll have a salad for lunch...dinner who knows, havent thought that far ahead.

Have a great Monday gang...we're almost done with the 13 day challenge!!! :)

Morning All

Day started out with a cat that was singing in my ear at 4am - then a dog that won't eat breakfast and a DD17 that won't get out of bed for the first day of school :rotfl2: Welcome to the END OF SUMMER!! :rotfl:

Ok - done having a pity party and am going to try some small steps for myself.

Back to the 8pm no eating rule - I REALLY LIKE THAT RULE = now if I could only remember it in the evening instead of the morning. :goodvibes

Also going to start looking at the calories I eat. Too MANY!! :teeth:

Ok - so hats off to the end of my summer and on to a healthier fall........now need to figure out what I want for breakfast.

Hailey - No one here is boring!!! We all have our own adventures and stories we bring. This group could easily write a book!! :Pinkbounc I am 49 yrs old with 2 DD (21 and 17) - both offering me a wide variety of laughter and tears. Good kids!! I am a substitute teacher that is having a job crisis and just got a new puppy (our first) in June. Have decided that puppies are cute and Cody is a keeper but will never do puppyhood again.......too much time!! :) Then there are the cats who are extremely jealous and sing to me at 4am..........I am sure you have stories for us. Keep moving and losing!! Glad you can join us.

Kathy - Let us know how the first day went.........

Off to take the cat to the vet for the tooth extraction. :worried:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Morning!!!!

Did I say Welcome to you, Disneymom? If not, Welcome!!! That's not boring either...it's tres' exciting! And 2 pounds is a fabulous loss!!!!

(That is CHEERWORTHY!!!!)

:cheer2: DisneyMOM!
:cheer2: Is 2 pounds down!
:cheer2: go Disneymom!!!

Linda-Thanks!! Welcome back. I sure hope I can be a better person to myself this year and keep my head out of the clouds!

Kathy...I quoted this from you to post in my NEW locker!! Thank you for that!

Kathy!! said:
TC2009 - good luck with the start of classes. Hope you are able to acheive your goals. Remember you are your own worst enemy. Cut yourself some slack and enjoy your high school years.

I will do my best to remember that...that's why it's going between the kitty cat pictures, my Harry Potter movie poster and my pencil box!! (I've got my locker layout all planned out...not that there is much planning to do...the locker is long and skinny...UGH) Thank you!!!  Feeling better? Congrats on the exercise!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Today I get my passbook/planner and schedule at 1:30...which is nervewracking like people are holding back huge secrets and I can't know them until that time!! I have NEVER been a very good waiter.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
For all of the 150 new friends:

Hi! I'm Jen (also known as TC2009)...I have 5 pounds to goal (168)...and then 18 to 150, where I'd ideally like to be! I'm a good exerciser and am workin' on the food intake. I'm a cheerleader!

Day 12: The President's Executive Committee receives a letter from Khrushchev stating that the Soviets would remove their missiles if President Kennedy publicly guarantees the U.S. will not invade Cuba.

Day 12: This is just too easy (to say, that is). If I don't do the things I'm not supposed to do, I will not gain weight. It's such a simple concept, but the reality! :confused3

Can you believe we're almost done? The official end comes on Day 14, which I will post as a followup Wednesday morning before we leave. I'm really nervous about my weigh in tonight. I really wanted to get below 170, and I don't think I quite did it. I know that was a pretty unrealistic goal based on my last weigh in (I was 172.6 five days ago), but I can't help but have that hope that somehow I did it. What I should focus on is that without my efforts for the last 8 weeks or so, I would still be in the 180s, rather than low 170s. My clothes do all fit now, and not super tight, so that is an accomplishment. Like Jen, I am my harshest critic. I'll let you know how it goes...And when I get back I will quickly gear up to lose whatever I've gained.

Tara -- You are definitely getting there! All that powerwalking will pay off. You are also eating well today! :goodvibes

Jen -- I hope you like your schedule! It does feel like you are missing vital information when it's being decided for you and you have to wait for it. Your goals sound great! I know you will achieve them all :Pinkbounc

Kathy -- I agree with Tara, you don't want to overdo it too quickly. Let yourself just be, even if it is only for 5 minutes at a time. :grouphug:

Linda -- I hope your kitty comes through with flying colors. My 12 year old had a large clump of kidney stones removed, and it was without incident. It seems like a big deal to us because they are so small, but these operations are routine for the vets, they do them every week :paw: Loved your trip report! Start slow and just try to do one or two things at a time related to weight loss, maybe stop eating at 8 and drink your water, or maybe the exercise. I really think once you get those three going again, you will see great results.

Haley -- We are all different here, but we all bring something special to the table. We work, we stay at home, we have kids of every age or no kids, we send our kids to every kind of school imaginable - some of us are talented enough that we homeschool (kudos to Tara and Debra), heck some of us (even are school cheerleaders- Yea, Jen!). So don't ever think you are less than exciting or don't have something to contribute. ::yes:: Sometimes the words that touch us the most come from someone we have the least in common with. I am 37, I work full-time, and I have a 7 yr. old ds. I've been married for 12 years, and although I live in Boston, I was born and raised in Missouri. My last weigh in was 172.6, but I'm hoping that will go down some tonight! We are also on every plan you can imagine, I am personally doing WW.

O.k., so who am I missing? Debra and Regina -- I know you are both working very hard right now, so keep it up! Oh, and Lisa -- I hope the start of school is going well for you! :bounce:

O.k., I've eaten everything I brought with me to work today (8 pts), so I have to drink water, work out when I get home, and we will see what the scale has to say.

Maria

Ummm, hello? Anybody out there?

I just got back from the last weigh in before I go, with mixed feelings. I did lose 1.6, so I'm down to 171.0. Of course I wanted to get below 170, but I know losing 3 pounds in 5 days was a pretty unrealistic goal. So, I'm happy (and I've now lost 11 lbs. since joining this thread!), but I am greedy and wanted to do better. And, I really think whatever I gain while I'm away, it won't be so much that 169 is out of reach.

Anyway, just wanted to report in. And I am happy I have a shiny new clippie, I just have to get it up here. (I just put it up, and changed my ticker, and now I'm feelin' a little happy!) :Pinkbounc

Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone! We are getting there slowly, but that means the weight will stay off!

Maria

Hi Everyone! :)

Well, I just got back from Day 1 of unpacking and cleaning my classroom for the next school year. I am so excited it is not funny. I just love the smell of sharpened pencils! lol :teacher:

I really worked hard in my room today. I was there for *FIVE* hours cleaning and unpacking and only made a DENT in what I want to get done. Even though everyone says I am the most organized person on the floor, I can't believe how messy I left things in June. Sheesh!

Anyway, I'm beyond tired so am going to nix the exercise for today. I am sure my workout was fulfilled with all I have done at school. I was good with my eating. I picked up grapes and a sald from Quick Check beforehand.

I hope everyone had a nice day :)

So today was one of the best days ever!

I started back to work...three days of inservice and then the kiddies come. Work is fun because as I said before I work with my two best friends.

I was told I looked beautiful, cute, great, and well rested...I think anyone who has a 8 week vacation would look good as well! LOL!

I was nominated to be our district team leader meaning I would plan the agenda and run the meetings all year for our grade level.

And I found a book at the library that had been reported on my card as missing. Did not having to pay for the book that was already there!

Woot woot!

As for the eating...I'll admit...I bought a soda and a burrito for lunch. On the other hand, I brought my own snacks to eat at the workshop.

Have a great night! :)

Lisa

MARIA!!!!

LOVE THAT CLIPPIE!!! Girl, don't you fret..that is solid hard proven loss in such a short span...your 13 day plan really paid off!!!! ENJOY being at 171...you'll never see it again!!! :) And I bet with your vacation that all that walking will keep you in check...stick to your water and indulge in bites of sweets here and there and you may even lose weight! :) I'm really hoping to be below 170 before 9/12...but I'm like you, it may not happen. But even if I get to 171 that's AWESOME!!!

Nikkibell...I love sharpened pencils, too!!! And the smell of copy paper...oh all those school smells! :) GREAT FOOD CHOICES!!!!

I really struggled with food choices today...I did GREAT for breakfast, then reheated grilled cheeseburger on wheat bun for lunch but did eat potato chips with it! UGH! Then had 1 Reese cup...then through the afternoon I snacked on probably 30 cashew halves...tonight I regrouped and had a salad with red pepper, onion, carrots, and olives...I'll top it off with a nice glass of water in a second and hopefully see 176.0 tomorrow! Those chips might throw me off...I'm considering chunking them altogether....

So how is everyone doing????
Tara

Hi Again!

Tara, Thanks for the words of encouragement! I really don't want to blow up while I'm away, and I am satisfied with less food, so I think that will help. I'll also think of you guys every time I'm tempted, and that will stop a few splurges. I can't let my weight loss buddies down :sad2: So I do have some confidence that it is possible to have a great time and not blow all my progress ::yes:: I admit it, I have basically given up chips. I'll buy a single serve bag and eat baked ones, but that's it, and even then, I can't do it often. A bag of Ruffles Baked Sour Cream and Cheddar is like an irrestible force for me. I just have to say no, or I will eat the entire bag. I can't buy them anymore.

Lisa -- Congratulations on everything! You are really on a roll. You're doing great, and your confidence was showing today :Pinkbounc

Nikkibell -- I'm sure you did burn some calories! Cleaning is hard work, especially for five hours. :flower:

Well, I'm off to finally start putting items in suitcases! I can't believe it's already time to pack. I really wish I had tomorrow off. I would also like to leave early, but for some reason my boss keeps finding more things for me to do instead of fewer...I know she wants to make sure everything is covered while I'm gone, the problem is my mind left the building about 3 days ago.

C'ya in the morning, for Day 13! :goodvibes

Maria

Hi Everyone,
This weekend flew by, and this is the 1st chance I have had to check in. We were suppose to go to Cedar Point on Sat. however since the weather didnt' look good we decided to stay home and work around the house. Sat. DH spent the day cleaning out the garage and Sun. we spent the day cleaning the house. It feels good to finally have a clean house.

Things went well with my eating, and I was more active than normal between walking the dog and cleaning house I hardly sat down yesterday or today.

This next week will be spent convincing DS4 that preschool will be fun. He will start next Moday and go 3 days a week for 4 hours a day. Once he get there he will have fun, but he is worried because he has never been in that kind of an environment before. He has always either been home with myself of DH or with grandparents.

Sorry, I have not had a chance to read the posts this past weekend, I will be trying to catch-up on my reading Tues.

Regina

Morning All!! :sunny:

Pity Party is over and I am ready to MARCH   forward to a LOSING way :cheer2:

Yesterday I said YES to drinking my water and not eating after 8pm :Pinkbounc . By saying yes the scale rewarded me with a 2 pound loss. I am back to 171lbs and motivated to see the 160s!!!!!! Hello 160s

Today I am going to again say yes to drinking my water and not eating after 8pm.

Now tomorrow I have a 5 hour car ride ahead of me (taking DD21 back to school). Any suggestions on low calorie healthy snacking. I get bored driving or being the passenger. When a passenger I usually sleep (solves the eating urge) BUT when driving I need to keep noshing. Any hints? :teacher:

Same car ride back on Thursday.........HELP!!

Regina - A clean house and calories burned!! WOO HOO!!!! After I move DD21 back to school hoping to clean out the house. Right now her things are all over :rotfl: Good Luck with DS4 - it will probably hurt you more than it hurts him but know in the long run he will end up making friends and have FUN!!

Maria - HAVE A GREAT and MAGICAL TIME!! Eat a Dole Pinapple Float for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......and of course give my love to the MOUSE ::MickeyMo Just keep walking and it will offset the yummy calories :teeth:

Nikkibell - Can't wait to start subbing. Love the look of a newly set up classroom. This has been one of my favorite jobs so far (besides when I worked for the MOUSE). Have fun with the kids. I think 5th grade is a GREAT age. They haven't caught that hormonal attitude yet.

Lisa - WHAT A GREAT DAY!! Hope you have many more of these!! Good for you looking well rested and beautiful!! :goodvibes :goodvibes Keep going you are definitely headed in the correct direction. Good Luck with school

Tara - How is it going? Today focus on healthier eating!! That bridesmaid dress is waiting for your gorgeous body :wave2: Have you closed on your house yet?

Kathy - How did work go? Been thinking of you.

Debra - How is DD doing at the new school? Started following your advice and watching my calorie intake and portions. Hard to run to the computer all the time to log in the calories. Have to come up with another system. Let us know how you are doing.

Jen - How did classes go? My DD17 is already counting down to graduation!! She is a senior that has already checked out :rotfl: going to be a looooooooong year :rotfl2:

To the rest of our group :grouphug: HOW ARE YOU???? Let's hear about your day no matter if it was successful or not.......We are here for YOU!!

DD17 just left for school. DD21 is still sleeping. Puppy is up and won't eat. Food is not a priority in his life........ :confused3 Vet says not to worry at this point he is growing and thriving........Cats are talking - 8yr old cat got through surgery just fine.....Life is good :cool1: :cool1:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Morning All!

Off I am to another day of climbing chairs, cleaning dust, unpacking boxes, and sweating buckets ( lol! ) due to the a/c being on "low" because it lowers the electricity bill during the summer! :rotfl: I am going to exercise Thursday - Sunday to make things easier this week. All of this packing at school is very tiring.

OK, I am finally hoping that TODAY feels more like a normal day. DD1 started her new school yesterday and last night was a parents meeting for the 6th grade parents. There is a total of 36 students in the 6th grade with two classes of 18 each.

My DD1 liked the schoool, and DH and I felt SO good after our parents meeting. The teachers are great, they have such neat things planned for the kids this year (field trips, science lab work at the university, technology enrichment courses, unit studies, plans for a BIG trip in 8th grade--not sure where that will be though). It is SO different than the school that DD2 is going to that has 300 in the 6th grade, but then that is to be expected. This is a Lab School and they are set up to be able to try new and different things. I only wish that DD2 could go to this school as well, but she will be first on the list next year if someone leaves (and they said that there is almost always an opening each year, but this is the first year since 1st grade that siblings didn't fill all the spots).

I feel like my life has been crazy, but today I hope to work on finding a 'normal' routine for me with the kids in school.

Sorry I haven't been online and I haven't kept up with the posts, but I am back now.

Linda: Snacking in the car is hard. I am sure carrots are not what you had in mind, but those would be the best for you to use. Maybe fat free pretzels (but not too many) and diet drink that you enjoy (right now for some reason I am enjoying Light Hawaiian Punch).

Tara: I see you got a new clippie! I noticed because I was CHASING your other one! Now you are 15 ahead of me! I am hoping to weigh in tomorrow, maybe if I am lucky I will get a new clippie, but there is a good chance I will be a little under what I need. I still think I will see a lose, just not sure how much. So I am still chasing your clippie! :daisy:

Maria: Isn't this day 13 for you? I have to confess, my walking got side tracked since all of this school stuff started. On the bright side, I did enjoy the Walk Away The Pounds DVD and I saw it at Meijers yesterday and I think I may go and buy it (I have a library copy right now). It would be nice in the winter to have something like this to do when you can't get out (now I try to do the mowing for my exercise).

Jen: Did you use to be a cheerleader? I love your cheers! I think they made this clip art just for you: :cheer2:

Lisa: Hope school is going well. Isn't it great when people tell you how good you look. This weekend my husband hugged me, and said, "You are skinny!" He doesn't usually say anything at all (not when I am at any weight). I think he just noticed that I had lost weight! I told him it was about time he noticed! I mean I have lost 50 pounds!

Haley: Welcome! This is a great group, and it has really helped me to stay on track! We are all on this journey together. Just take one day at a time and you will see some great results before you know it!

To everyone: Keep up the good work!

Debra

Day 13: While one U-2 spy plane accidentally flies into Russia, another is shot down over Cuba. The President's Executive Committee receives a second letter from Khrushchev stating that, in addition to a public promise not to invade Cuba, the U.S. removes its missiles from Turkey.

Day 13: One would think this doesn't sound good, but actually it was a sign the Soviets were getting desperate, asking for the moon. Kind of like my goals lately. Things have to play out in a normal progression. If you lose much more than a pound or two a week, it is not a real loss, and will come back to bite you - at least in my experience. And, you cannot expect to follow any eating plan perfectly all the time. But following an eating and exercise plan most of the time will result in losses!

I'm still trying to eat right before I go, no time for exercise due to packing, etc., but I can eat well and drink water, so nothing too scary happens before tomorrow afternoon when we leave!

Debra -- Once your life calms down into a routine, I know you will pick up the walking again. There's nothing better on a crisp, autumn day.

Nikkibell -- You are a whirling dervish! I bet your classroom will sparkle!

Linda -- It sounds like life is good! You just had two fabulous trips, and everything will settle down soon. Good luck with your drive, and dropping off DD. I think that probably breaks your heart every year!

Regina -- You are definitely on the right track! And DS will come to love Preschool, just give him a week.

Tara, Haley, Lisa, Jen and Kathy -- Keep up the good work! We are doing great, and ready for a spectacular Fall where our pounds are going to "fall" off :bounce:

Maria

Arm felt a little sore last night after first day back at work. Spent more time at my desk than on my computer. My desk is a little too high for where the are feels comfortable.

Got the stitches out today and found out the rotator cuff was not torn. The biceps tendon was causing all the trouble. So much for the accuracy of MRI's. The bicep tendon was ruptured on on side where it attaches on the shoulder and badly frayed on the other side. The DR feels there will be a complete recovery and doesn't feel PT is necessary at this point as the range of motion is coming back well on its own. It would be difficult ot fit PT into an already full schedule.

Tara - I tried to takesome time to myself and watch a DVD last night. I chose a strange movie which I couldn't follow and gave up on. Tonight I think I will watch 1 or 2 episodes of Without a Trace. DD1 purchased the firrst season on DVD and left it for me to watch.

Didn't get any exercise in yesterday as I was exhausted after working 8 hours. WIll try to at least walk for 1/2 hr tonight. I signed DD2 back up as a member to the gym. She gets 4 free hours of personal training. She was assigned to a former SU football player who is a new trainer at the gym. She saw his picture on the wall last night when we stopped in and said the sessions will not be hard to take at all. He is rather good looking and not huge like some players.

Should get back to work as I was gone to the Dr's most of the morning. Will check back in later.

Let's drink our water and eat healthy.

Today was pretty good. I stayed on plan and did get in 30 mins. of exercise. This evening I made a mexican lasagna that I found on the WW website, now I have lunch for the rest of the week.

Kathy - Glad to hear you are healing well, and things weren't as bad as suspected.

Okay gang..I'm just gonna have to write all my eatings down....I really can't seem to limit myself with all this walking! I stay hungry all the time...I think I need some multivitamins...any recommendations?

Breakfast..2 slices bacon, 1 slice wheat toast, 2 scrambled eggs, small grape juice
Snack...cashews
Lunch...leftover grilled hamburger pattie on wheat with cheese/lettuce/ketchup and about 5 potato chips off child's plate...on and 1 stick of that darned Nutter butter.
Snack....crackers with monterey jack cheese
Dinner...grilled chicken/green beans/mashed potatoes
Unsweet tea/Diet Coke/4 glasses water

Now that is a fine day for maintaining..but I need to LOSE!!! Going to make salad more of my meal tomorrow and try and cut out the caffeine drinks and all SUGARS!!!! UGH! Will catch up on everyone in the am....gotta go reorganize our school room before tomorrow!

Have a great day guys!
Tara

Hi Everyone,

I just found out I did not do as good of a job eating today as I originally thought. I went on the Wawa website to get the calories/fat for my lunch sandwich and Saladworks for my salad for dinner. I went over 1500 calories which is what I try and avoid; my fat was way over too. :(

I guess I will not be loosing much at all this week. Argh! :guilty:

Day 14: In a speech aired on Radio Moscow, Khrushchev announces the dismantling of Soviet missiles in Cuba and does not insist on his demands concerning the removal of U.S. missiles from Turkey. The crisis is over.

Day 14: We did it! Congratulations to everyone who did one day, or 13! Just thinking about something to put on the front burner counts. :goodvibes

I won't write one of my long epistles -- We're off to Disney World today, so I'll see you all when I get back! I should warn you, I expect to gain some weight, so I'll be eager to learn any new tips anyone is sharing! :mickeybar

Thanks to everyone for all the great wishes for a safe and wonderful trip. I'm sure we're about to have the time of our lives! :cloud9:

Maria

Morning All!! :sunny:

Well I am off for my 5 hour car ride to Indiana University - moving in DD21 for the last time in her undergrad career. Can't believe I have one that old :rotfl2: She keeps telling us that now she has a "big girl" drivers license :rotfl2: :rotfl: Will be back tomorrow evening sometime.

Yesterday I said YES to
Walking 15, 490 steps which was 5.1 miles
Drinking all my water
not eating after 8pm!!!!!! (that is always the hardest one for me)

Scale congratulated my fine efforts with a .5 weight loss. I am back to 170.5 so those 160s are right around the corner :cheer2: :cheer2:

Just need to focus on the next two days. Hard to drink water on the road because I run out!! Not enough room in the car for a cooler because of all of her stuff. But I am going to try.......pop is not an issue - don't really drink it.

Nikkibelle - Shake off the eating of yesterday - Today is going to be YOUR DAY!! :cheer2:

Tara - How many nutter butters do you have left? Can you give them away to the neighbors or do your kids eat them also? How about reaching for a nice piece of fruit instead. Will that help satisfy your sweet tooth? :)

Regina - Can you share the Mexican Lasagna recipe? Sounds YUMMY!!! Keep moving and losing!!

Kathy - How is it going? Getting any easier?

Debra - How about an update on your girls? You all have been on my mind.

Lisa - Is today kid day? The school district I work in has their first full day today.

To all of my fellow LOSERS - Keep doing that - Losing I mean :cheer2:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
