Just had to post what I just said NO to...

Lay's Barbecue Chips and Little Debbie Nutter Bar oh and a diet coke! :)

What I said "YES" to...

4.3 mile walk, whole grain ham/swiss sandwich and 3 whole glasses of water so far today!!! :)

Share what you've said NO or YES to today!

TC- GREAT news on your mom's 10 month anniversary....what a great thing to celebrate!

Will add in some fruit and cabbage for my afternoon snacks! :)

Tara

I said no to:

Sitting around on my bum in my PJ's, juicies, and DISin'

I said YES to:
1 liter of water, 32 minutes of tennis

(Thanks Tara! I will tell her!)

Any ideas what I should have for lunch? I'm getting tired of soup (which I normally have) and we have no potatoes!

I said NO to a funnel cake at IHOP (took the kids, and all I got was a diet coke).

I said YES to the 1 Mile Walk Away The Pounds video (I have it on loan from the library for the next 3 weeks, and I did the 1 mile walk today--did I mention that I REALLY HATE exercise? :earboy2: )

Debra

Hi Again!

Hmmm. What did I say "no" to:

1) french fries
2) treadmill time (whoops, but I substituted a 4.6 mile walk, so I'm still counting that as a workout)
3) eating after 8 p.m.!

What did I say "yes" to:

1) salad with my roast beef sandwich instead of fries (o.k. I did have garlic bread, too, but saying no to the fries was a big step for me).
2) an afternoon nap  I laid down to read "French Women Don't Get Fat", and fell asleep. I woke up and finished it, and I am not impressed. I found it to have some good advice, but be very condescending. Apologies to anyone who loves it.
3) drinking my water! One more bottle and I'll be there, so no problem.

I'm not real thrilled about weighing in tomorrow. I'm predicting a gain, but since I was "on sabbatical" for about 5 days ,what do I expect?! Tomorrow afternoon I promised my ds we would have "movie time". We're going to watch a couple of Disney movies, and I am having one serving of 100 calorie kettle corn, and that's it (I wrote it, so now it will come true).

Debra -- I'm so proud you did the walk! Awesome. I knew you could do it. :cool1:

Jen -- Your mom is doing great! That's totally getting a big cheer from me. :cheer2:

Tara -- Good job saying "no"! You are totally getting into the spirit of our challenge. :o

I've started to plan out our daily itineraries. I can't believe everything is becoming so real. But my dh...I adore this man, but he is convinced we can get and do everything else we need to next weekend, he just wants to spend this weekend in the pool. I have a bad feeling we are going to run out of days with that approach, but I have been doing my best to get us ready a little at a time. DS starts school a few days after we return, so I'd feel better if we had all his uniform pieces before we go, especially since I know I'm the one who's going to have to run around and find everything at the last minute. I scored pants and socks yesterday, and I can fake shirts and ties for a few weeks, because last year's aren't too small. But the kid has to have new shoes. Tara, I bet you're laughing because you don't have to do any of this foolishness with homeschooling :goodvibes

Oh! Just to see what everyone thinks...I have read the 1,000 reviews of the Stitch ride, and it seems like some people really don't like it. Any opinions? My ds is a huge Stitch fan, but if it's scary or boring he will be really disappointed and I'd rather skip it. He loves the t.v. show, but found the movie too intense.

Well, I have to get ready for the rest of our big Friday night. Reading and TourGuideMike. At least I should like my next book better, It's a mystery by Charlotte McLeod set in Boston.

Have a great night, everybody. I'm sure you're all out dancing the night away!

Maria

Said yes to:
Meat and 4 slices bread
Water
DISing

Said no to:
snacking very much
cleaning

Thanks, guys!

It was OK. It is worth doing once at least. No one is begging to do it again. My DDs (11) didn't find it scary. They thought it was funny (but we all hated the part where he burps and you smell it!).

It is right across from the Buzz Lightyear ride, and we all love that one!

Debra

Wow! Maria...you've got some busy weeks ahead!!! I hate shopping for shoes for my kids because they have the hardest feet to fit (son is the widest they come) and my girls are so narrow...I'm a big bargain hunter and hate it when I have to pay $60 for a kids pair of tennis shoes! UGH! A little part of me does cringe when I realize how much we have to pay for our kids education when we have tax dollars that are meant for that...but then I think of all the money I save on fundraising events, needing specific clothing, and all the supplies each teacher requests and I fell a bit better! :) But I'm still spending much less than those in a private school so I really can't complain.

TC...Way to go on the scale!!! I'm seeing you easily passing by 175 next week! I was at 179.8 today...still 3 pounds higher than my lowest but my clothes fit looser at this weight than they did at the lower...I guess my muscles are putting some pounds on with all this walking. I really think I can be in the 160's by our Disney trip 9/12....I'm going to punch it up all I can! :)

Debra!! Keep saying yes to that miserable exercise..it really helps me say "no" more often to those bad things for me. When I don't exercise I just casually say yes to french fries here and chocolate there...ugh!

I am using this as my rest day instead of Sunday...I'll do my long walk tomorrow...I'm just spent with all the mental junk going on with dealing with this contract business and trying to figure out what we need to do in the next 2 weeks to close this house! I'm going for a low carb day today...just really don't want to slimfast today...I did GREAT on my water yesterday..had about 6 glass fulls and not a single diet coke....I know the caffeine messes with your insulin which in turn messes with your metabolic rate..so I'm trying to go a week without caffeine and see if that helps some of this water come off.

WE're doing GREAT on the challenge..

On to day 12!!!!
Tara

Thanks, Tara!! You're doing it and doing great!!! Those walks really are helping. I played tennis to my Superchick cd...it was GREAT!!

Awesome job, Maria!

We are doing a great job!!! Shall we keep it up?

Good morning!

It sound like everyone is doing awesome! :) I am really focusing on eat healthy all day long. It has taken me a couple of weeks, but now I can get from breakfast to my afternoon snack without any nushing. I'm still working on dinnertime, but I think I can get that all set in the next week. Practice, practice, practice! :)

Have a great day! :)

Lisa

Morning All!! :sunny:

Day 2 of Battle 13!! :rotfl:

Scale shows that I had a minor victory yesterday. I was able to stop the advance of the enemy poundage :cool1: :rotfl2: Down to 170 lbs.......would love to see the 160's before I leave but that is Monday :Pinkbounc ::MickeyMo

I said NO to a second helping of a wonderful mexican chicken dish I make......

Saute garlic and onions - brown chicken pieces (I used boneless skinless chicken tenders - add rice (I used light brown basmati) - 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups of salsa and then finish with enough water to cook the rice. Cover and cook until the rice is done. Finish off by putting reduced fat shredded Sargento Mexican cheese on top.........YUMMY!!

Said YES to extra naps to get rid of this sinus infection and no eating after 8pm

DD21 COMES HOME TODAY!!! Cannot begin to tell you how excited I am!!! :jumping1: :jumping1:

Well I am off to the grocery store. DD21 is bringing one of the travelers home with her for dinner. The girl has a later flight to Indy and it is silly for her to sit by herself at O Hare when we live 15 minutes away. At DD21 request making filets mignon on the grill, corn on the cob and homemade mashed potatoes (I make a really gooooooooood mashed potato) and salad.....YUMMY in my tummy!!

Have a GREAT Saturday everyone - will check in this evening and see how everyone is doing.

Have a Magical Disney Day!! ::MickeyMo

Tips for Successful Weight Management:

1. Start with a commitment. (A goal to lose ten pounds for an upcoming wedding is not a long-term committment!)
2. Identify your major problem area. A food journal logging when, where, what and why you eat would be helpful.
3. Be realistic. Don't expect to lose ten pounds of fat in one week. (This would require a daily deficit of 5,000 calories!)
4. Fight the "quick-fix" temptation of crash diets. They usually don't work and usually result in water-weight loss.
5. Don't put your lifestyle on hold to "go on a diet;" it ignores the real challenges such as sweet attacks, eating out, alcohol, and exercise.
6. Choose a plan you could realistically follow for a lifetime. Be sure it includes foods you like.
7. Exercise, but choose an activity you enjoy.
8. Remember that weight plateaus are normal. Focus on your progress and remember where you started.
9. Keep in mind that one food indescretion does not make or break your weight. It is what you eat on a regular basis that counts.
10. Don't skip meals. Skipping meals can make you hungrier and you may end up overeating, regardless of your intentions.

LISA!!! WOW!!! YOU ARE A MECCA FOR NUGGETS!!! I don't think I've seen that much great information stored in one page! :) I'm going to take my time and read through them all to help it sink in...any ideas of what constitutes a starch? I know potatoes/corn/rice do but can you help give me more ideas?

Linda...YEAH!!! Your dd is coming home!!! Can I come for dinner??? It sounds much better than my slimfast...I've only got 3 more of those left and then it's up to me to follow Lisa's great plans and eat to lose, not diet to lose.

I'm off to a gymnastics "fair" they're having face painting and all that and I'm hoping there will not be any cotton candy!!!

I said YES to slimfast this morning
YES to a ham/swiss on whole grain and water...and a small serving of cole slaw.

I said NO to my walk this morning (but will get it in tomorrow)
and NO to potato chips and LIttle Debbies! :)

Tara

Good afternoon!

Just a quick check in to relay my weigh-in, I'm down .2 to 174.0. I was really surprised, because overall this has not been my best week. I also realize that that's a glass of water, but I'm o.k. with that. I have to weigh next on Wednesday, so we'll see how TOM affects my weight.

I'll write more later and post Day 3!

Tara -- Have a great time at the fair!

Lisa -- Thanks so much for all the great tips. I'm going to have to read everything carefully.

Linda -- I know you are going to have a wonderful day! Remember, you will have to stop hugging DD occasionally so she can eat that fabulous meal :)

Keep cool this afternoon. It's about 100 in the shade here, so I'm off to my tube in the pool :cutie:

Maria

Well, I'm writing this for my own benefit since no one else has posted since me. I'll do Day 3 tomorrow...

I did pretty well today. I had a slight accident with baked chips and salsa, but it wasn't too bad. I also had a major victory from a failure. We ended up getting pizza that didn't arrive until after 8 p.m., so I ate after 8 tonight. But, I only had one piece of a small pizza (4 pts.), which is a first for me. I usually eat 3 pieces. I did fine with the water.

I have a feeling I may get hungry later, but I'm determined to fill up on fluids if I do. DS decided we need to watch every Disney movie we own before we go. That's about 20. We watched his Beach Party Singalong Songs and Finding Nemo today. Next up, Fantasia 2000. Oh! and I also did limit myself to one bag of the little popcorn, so I'm thrilled about that.

I just want to get up tomorrow and hit the treadmill right away again. If I wait, the odds are I just won't get on.

C'ya guys in the morning!
Maria
