Welcome Coaster!!! I have missed you coming in! And WOW!! You're already posting losses!! YOU ROLL GIRL!!! :) Congrats!!! Keep up the good work!!!

I lost a pound last week so not so bad, but 2 pounds would have had me beaming, had last minute company come so that always blows good plans, atleast in our family, and it was my sister's birthday so of course we had to have cake, so 1 pound gone is not so bad! :) My goal is to have no gains or maintains until Christmas...even if it's half a pound...just want to be headed south to 150! :)

Tiggerkeeper!!! 178!!! YAHOO!! NEVER wanna see you see the 180's again!! You could be in the 160's in 1-2 months!! Just think of that! :) YAHOO!!!!

Kathy!! More surgery?? :guilty: Oh my goodness!! We have got to get your muscles and joints cooperating with you! I know they're aching to walk and you are to...take it easy and don't over do stuff! Enjoy this slow season (tax-wise) and heal up! :)

Wendy!! YOU CAN do 10 pounds by Christmas!!! Stay focused and imagine yourself never hitting the 200's again!! 100's are you baby! :)

Great to see everyone feeling the need to lose and working through the struggles we face...being fit is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves and encouraging others will help us get there!! :)

Off to finish this day! Been at the barn for horse lessons for 5 hours today! Oh my! I smell like a barn...need a shower!

Tara

Just got on the scale today and I really, really would like some way to be more accountable and stay on track with my diet. I've got about 24 lbs. to go to hit 150, but I'm just 5' 4"!!! :guilty:

Our family dog, as you may have read on the CB board, suffered from non-painful lymphoma for the past 3 months and was put down last Wednesday :sad1: . I know, I know I was doing a lot of "comfort food" eating and I put on about 5 pounds that I'd been trying to lose.

So far, my best success has been with Phase One of the South Beach Diet for that fast, encouraging initial weight-loss. In general, I don't have a problem with Phases 2/3...kind of like the Abs Diet---no refined carbs, but you're allowed limited whole grains and fruit. I think my biggest downfall is once I reach a goal, I slowly slide back into "regular" eating, which for me adds pounds. The worst temptation: eating out. Sure, we all know the healthy ways to order, but who wants to pass up the cheddar biscuits at Red Lobster?

My Plan: The exercises from "8 Minutes in the Morning" 6 days a week; meal plan--South Beach Diet Phase One. I already walk a brisk 2 miles about 5 nights a week---but that's mainly for cardiac health rather than weight loss. Right now, my first goal is to hit 164...about 10 lbs. away. After that, maybe the 150's will seem more possible.

Congratulations to all of you who have already lost substantial weight on your way to the 150's...I truly hope to have some of your determination/success! :grouphug:

Thanks!

Karla B. :goodvibes

p.s. So far today, did the "8 Minutes..." exercises and have kept to SB Phase 1. Have to go to a Chuck E. Cheese b'party tonight, but plan on just eating from the salad bar.

Hi Ladies!

It sounds like we're all still plugging along -- with some great successes!

I totally lost motivation over the weekend. It seriously wasn't pretty. On the bright side, I'm ready to make an effort again -- I even got a new dvd to get me moving on the TM. It's a compilation of Pat Benatar concert footage and videos -- I should be full of girl-power! :goodvibes

Karla B. -- Welcome! :welcome: We are thrilled to have you! This is a great place to come and give and get support. I'm so sorry about your dog, I am the queen of comfort eating, so I completely understand. Sometimes, you just have to do what you need to do. The great thing is, you can always jump in where you are and work on yourself. You are a masterpiece in progress!

Tara -- I don't know how you keep up with yourself and your active family! You guys are always on the run, and always having fun. I think you really enjoy your life, and that makes me smile as I write it. :cloud9:

Dona -- You hang in there, too. :sunny: This is a hard time of year (guess what the temperature will be in 7 days...your guess is as good as mine!). Plus the reduced sunlight...but we are getting there!

CoasterAddict -- You are doing great! :Pinkbounc PM me if you ever want a walking buddy...

Melissa -- You are on your way! Great job on the loss! :woohoo:

Wendy -- I hope you are feeling better! Don't let this wacky weather get you down ;)

So, let's make October a super losing month!
Maria

So I'm down 2.8 pounds this week. Which means I down 52.2 pounds and only have 47.8 pounds to go, to my goal weight. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Congrats to all of those who have had reccent loses. To those of you just starting, just start by making small little changes. Substitute water for soda or tea, take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator, park your car further away, eat a salad instead of a cheeseburger and just keep on moving. :thumbsup2 :cool1: :cheer2:

Hello everyone!

Thanks for the kind thoughts Maria. I finally do feel better. I had a middle ear infection along with strep. I am now battling with just congestion and the side affects of antibiotics!

You know it Tara! I will see the 100's! I know I can do the 10 pounds by Christmas!

Had a pound loss this last week! YEAH! All that closer!

DH and DS are now, even as I type, putting a bowflex together for me to get that loose skin tighter! DS needs it a bit if he's going to find a sweetheart!

So glad to see some losses and lots of positive attitude! It really helps me reading about others and the dedication we all have. I know we slip now and again, like the half serving of pumpkin Ice cream I just had to have last Thursday, but we get right back on track!

Lets keep up the great work for October! I am ready! I think they are done with the machine. Good lord it is huge! Will keep everyone up to date with how it works!

Wendy

Hi Ladies!

I hope everyone is having a great day! I'm working my way back to the TM and eating well. TOM is apparently coming sometime today (trust me, my lower back is keenly aware), so I know my outlook is going to improve. :thumbsup2

Let's look forward to a great weekend, and a wonderful new week!

Maria

Surgery yesterday went well. She fixed the rotator cuff, removed some the head of the bicep tendon left over from last years surgery, and removed a bone spur that was impinging on the tendons.

So far I feel great and the pain level is very low. She inserted a pain buester that is constantly putting some sort on mumber into the shoulder. I had to go back today to get the dressing changed as one of the scope holes was leaking which saturated the bandage and caused blood to run down my arm. I will get the stitches our Wed AM.

Maria - great job getting on the TM. Keep it up and you will be way ahea of me.

Wendy - have fun with your boflex. I have always thought one would be interesting but have never got serious about getting one. Let me know how you like it.

ReAnSt - great job with the 2.8 lb loss. Keep up the good work.

I did the Army Ten Mile race in DC last weekend. I finished in 2h40m which was 10 min slower that the recommended finish time but still got my medal. They weren't mandating the time that close because of the time is took some ot the racers to cross the start line. It was a well done race and I will definitely do it again, given the opportunity.

Have a great losing day.

Hey guys, reading the positive posts is inspiring! I have had one of those weeks that make you gray, oh wait, I already am pre-maturely gray! :rotfl: Hubby has been moved for 4 weeks now and my challenges have started. The riding lawn mower had a flat, dd swerved to miss a squirrel and tore the tire on the van meaning 2 new tires this weekend. And I need to find a handy dude for some odd jobs around the house. Uh, did I mention the 22 yo is moving back in with us for about 3 weeks because he is taking on a new job? On the bright side no one has been injured and everything is temporary! :teeth: Wonder what the scale will say on Sunday???

Wendy, sorry you've been sick ear infections are the pits but paired with strep makes you one sick girl! Cheers for the bowflex, let us know how you like it!! :cheer2:

ReAnSt, it's gotta feel good to know you've lost more than you have to lose!  Keep up the good work!

Karla, I am just about where you are - close in weight and height! This is a great place for accountability and support! :wave2: Sounds like you have a good plan in place just keep working it and you'll be at goal before you know it! :Pinkbounc

Kathy, congrats on the race and ouch on the surgery! :teeth: Hope you have a speedy recovery with very little pain!! Keep us posted on your progress.

Maria, hope the TOM goes by quickly!! :thumbsup2

Tara, take that 1lb loss and kick butt into making it 2 for the next weigh-in. Hey, down instead of up is always a goooooood thing!

Hope everyone has had a good week! Hope the weekend is a blast! :grouphug: Keep working out and drinking water!

Hi guys
I think being sick is going around. I have had a headache and a sore throat for the last day and a half. My throat is so sore that even oatmeal was hard to get down this morning. The headache will last until the end of the month. I am working with my son's scout troop and we are selling popcorn this month. Three families always work together and they mix up and mess uo their orders like crazy. They have been buggin me about certain things for the last week but it has been over the phone, last night they cornered me and drove me crazy. They could care less about the troop and only worry about their children. I knew that I was having this meeting and I let it get to me all week. I have not worked out and my eating has been horrible. I am sorry for not being here the last few weeks. Being accountable to you guys is getting me to calm down. I just want to tell them off and get them away from me. I know that it will take me well over an hour on the 29th to their orders straightened out but now they are taking popcorn from other people and not telling me about it. So it is screwintg up all the orders. I just want to scream

I will be back on track today.

Hope everyone else is feeling better. I need to get some work done. When I get home I need to finish and afghan that I am making for my husband's aunt. She will be celebrating her 50th year of being a nun tomorrow. He and I are going to the party and the mass.

Kathy I hope the pain doesn't get to bad. A shoulder is tough because it is tough to sit and lay down. And don't even think about putting on a shirt (I had an inpinged nerve is one of my shoulders a couple of years ago and I still make sure that I work my arms at least twice a week so that I don't h ave any problems.

Keep up the hard work. Thanks for listening.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

HI there everyone!

Well, feeling MUCH better. Even tho work was hectic! Glad the weekend is here. Going to see parents and a show in Mackinaw. Hope the snow stays away!

On to the bow flex. DS is taking their 6 week challenge. Hope he sticks to it because it will be a great habit to get into.

It is easy to use. As easy as they show on TV. DD (10) is able to do it with minimal help. But a word to the home owner--it is bigger than it looks. It tops over my DH who is 6'3". It's about 4'6" in length, but half that in width. I need to tone up, and this is going to very nice to work on. I am going to focus on the toning rather than the 'buffing up' stuff!

I will keep all posted on inches lost, since I am going to keep track that way, since if I do add muscle, I know it will weigh more than the other stuff I am currently carrying around! :rotfl2:

I would like to say thanks for the good wishes while I was feeling awful earlier. As Dona says, I do think that something is in the air. Also, reading about the troop issues, makes me reinforce why my children are in music. I could not do group things. I am not that kind of person. I have no patience and I can be very 'A' attitude with getting too pushy with people. I too wonder why these parents are involved when most of the time the 'group' attitude is missing--like with your recent encounter. It's wonderful that you can do it Dona. I have a friend that does it all, and does it wonderfully! She's my hero! She also mentions she wishes she were like me where I convice my children into solo projects! Boy, I am terrible sometimes!

Tara, I don't know what I would do without a handyman. They really are a dying breed. Hope the tires are all that happen for the rest of the week!

Take care Kathy! Sounds like surgery went well, and you are on the way to recovery. Just thing how great it will be to have your shoulder healed, and all parts in good working order! :lmao: I used to tell my DH that all I wanted was for all my parts to work right!

Hi Maria! Have a great weekend! I know I will also get to know my TM again. I will really miss the wonderful weather the summer brings. I know the dog will!

Coaster, are you still looking into trapeze lessons? My DS was very intriqued when I mentioned I knew someone who was considering them.

ReAnSt--Great job! I don't think I've said Hello yet! Hello! And a huge hello to Karla B. Boy, things sure move fast when you are babying yourself!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Great losses to all!

Wendy

Hi All,
I'm not here as often as I probably should be since life is frenetic, but :grouphug: to all...keep up the good work! And hang in there when life gets in the way...get back to your plan as soon as you can and it minimizes the effect...that's a tough one for me, but I know it works.

tbstein...yes, my trapeze lesson is next Friday...1st I could fit it in...I'll let you know how it goes.
:thumbsup2

Welcome Karla B!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I am so sorry for your loss, pets are family and miss them much when they're gone. But, I'm so proud of you for taking control of the comfort eating and focusing on doing something GOOD for you! 150's will be heading your way! Go out and buy a swimsuit on sale for next year, it's always fun to buy 2-3 sizes smaller and envision yourself wearing it and feeling FIT! :)

ReAnSt!!! GREAT TIPS!!! AND WAHOOOOOOO on your amazing loss!!!!! :dance3: :dance3: You deserve multiple smilies for your hard work and CAN DO attitude! I know you feel GREAT with those pounds off your body! You lost a six year old child! :)

Wendy!! BOWFLEX GO! BOWFLEX FLEX! BOWFLEX Blow that flab away! :) You can do it, just take it easy and build up! :) CONGRATS on the pound!!! SO LONG POUNDER!!! IT can join the pound I lost last week and never come back! :) I'm hoping for 2 pounds this week...I have a goal of 10 for the month but will probably hit 5 so that's a start...

Maria....in the words of my maxi-pad peel off tape "Have a nice period!" I can't believe they printed that on my pads! When you're back is aching and you're craving sweets that will put your water weight up there, how can it be nice? Well, have a good one! :)

Kathy!!!!! So glad to hear your cuff is feeling better....but ooh dripping down the arm? Ick! And you amaze me 10k! :) That is AWESOME!!! You're a trooper through and through...I'd give you a medal if I had one! :) I suggest you wear that medal every day for a week under your clothes just to feel it and remind yourself of how strong you are even through injury! It must have been tough to walk with a sore shoulder!

Tkeeper! AAAGH!!! Life is just always going to throw us up and down...we're really living on a trampoline...just plant your feet and get ready to bounce up high when things start going your way! ;) When's the big moving day for y'all? Catch us up on how it's all going! Or are y'all moving? We lived a year and a half without dh with us and it was TOUGH!!! He came home on weekends but darn if that house didn't sell soon enough for us! We're together now and appreciate each moment (most the time) we have together and not having to sell a house! :) Hugs for you!!!!

Dona!!! Dona!!! Are we living mirror lives? I'm starting a scouting troop, and luckily no one's really bringing me problems, but I feel so much pressure trying to get all the paperwork and organizational stuff done and praying we have enough volunteers to lead...oh it's unending, but the rewards of a scouting program are so worth it! Stick with it and these popcorn sales will end soon! :) I bought some popcorn from my friend's son...it's usually pretty good popcorn! :) Keep checking in with us and give yourself some good me time!
I love hot tea mixed with ginger/lemon/honey...it really soothes my throat...hope you're feeling better!

Coaster...keep checking in with us! You're losing ways and strong will are a great boost to us all!!!! Can't wait to hear about the trapeze lesson!!! HOW COOL!!! :)

Just spent 2 hours picking up the house from the weekend, it's amazing how we just drop and go! Now to start school and get myself some order...cheerios and skim milk for breakfast...lunch will be soup I think! :)

Tara

Hello everyone! Had a great weekend, did lots of walking, swimming, and just hanging out with my parents and siblings.

Wow--DH is helping with the Bowflex. DD is even working on it. I want to get rid of another pound this week! As you say Tara--it's gone! I am trying for 10 by Christmas. I think I can do it. I am certainly going to work on it!

Got lots to catch up on, with a few days away, it is amazing what you get behind on! Was trying so hard to knit DD a scarf for her pirate costume for Halloween, but DH finally gave it along with the pattern to Mom-in-law. I really am only a very beginner knitter. SHe's had decades of knitting, so I know it will be done for her on time! I didn't think I would even get it done! It was just a scarf! Thank goodness it wasn't the entire outfit! :rotfl:

Pampered pooch looks like she needs some exercise!

Great losses to all!

Wendy

Well, this week is certainly looking better! I think I found a handyman!! AND I lost another pound!! WooHoo!!

Hope all of you who have been sick are feeling better - not a good way to lose weight!! LOL! :smooth:

Get moving and get those pounds off! This time of year it is hard for me to stay on an eating plan. Sooooo many fall goodies! Maybe one treat a week because I don't want to totally deprive myself and binge.

Have a great day!!

No, not a good way. A really effective way to jump start the weight loss sometimes though....not recommending it, but if you end up with lemons... :)

I know this doesn't work for everyone. But it's working really well for me so far. I'm 90% really focused on healty eating, but let the occasional goodie get through. I also find that as time goes by I *want* less of the bad stuff and a bite or two is plenty. I actually have quite a bit of chocolate in the house these days--went to Hershey Park in Sept. and couldn't pass up the "gift shop" ride--but it's really dark, rich chocolate and one tiny piece will satisfy me for days.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Hi everyone.

No it is not easy to lose weight when you are feeling lousy.(unfortunately I am up 2.5 lbs from last week) My throat is still sore and it feels congested and I definitely don't feel like working out. I feel like sleeping. One of my classes got me laughing yesterday and at one point I couldn't catch my breath. We all had a good laugh about it because I have known these kids for a year and a half now so we can kid around.

I am not a big party person so the only really bad week for me is the week between Christmas and New Years. I usually go to my in laws for Thanksgiving and she is a very basic cook. Very simple food so I usuallly don't eat much. The only thing I would splurge on is the pies I bring. Maybe this year instead of an apple pie, I will bring an apple crumle (No crust yes the topping is not great but if there is a lot of apples then it is not too bad.

Have a great dday everyone.

Good morning fellow losers.

I got my stitches out on Wed. Tammy told me my sling is going to become my best buddy until I see her again on Nov. 29. I can go back to work next week so I am going in on Tues. I start PT on Tues and it is within walking distance of the office.

I am not thinking about weight loss at this time. I am concentrating on getting the shoulder healthy. I would like to at least maintain the weight I am currently at. Any loss would be a bonus.

Mom and I went for a 1 mile walk yesterday before the rain hit. We took it slow as mom has 2 artificial knees and I let her set the pace. It felt go to be outdoor and not get rained upon. We were supposed to get 2" of rain overnight and another 2" today. It has rained too much lately but I suppose it is better than snow.

Dona - hang in there. The weight will start coming off agian when you feel better.

Tiggerkeeper - great job on the weightloss. That is 1 lb less you will have to carry around.

Wendy - keep up the good work and check in often.

Maria - keep up with the walking. You can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

To those I have missed, keep up the good work. We all have our setbacks but just need to get back in the groove.

Have a great day.

Kathy I can only imagine what you are going through having to wear the sling all the time. Can you drive or are you totally dependent on other people? After being able to drive whenever and whereever you want to not be able to really is the pits. I hope the pain is not too bad and going to work helps take your mind off of it.

Dona - I will be unable to drive until I am out of the sling. It will be tough having to depend on others to go anywhere. With previous surgeries, I was able to drive within a week so this is different. I may even turn into more of a lefty by the time I get teh sling off.

Well, folks, the trapeze lesson was lots of fun--although it's *way* harder than it looks, and *man* was I sore this morning!
