Kathy - I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS:(:( Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.........safe travel and we will talk soon.

Linda

Kathy,
I am very sorry for yoru loss, and I know this will be a difficult time. Sometimes we just have to give ourselves a break and not worry about food while we take care of other things. Things will settle down in time. Right now, you have a lot of your mind, so don't worry about weight or food. There is plenty of time for that once things are calmer in your life.
Blessings,
Debra

Kathy,
You have deepest sympathy. Please take care of yourself so you can be there for your sister. She needs you at this time.

Dona

Kathy,

Let yourself breathe and do what you need to do. You can worry about food next week. My heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out for you and your family. We're all here for you if you need us.

Travel safe,
Maria

Found something that is helping....

I have been having a lot of trouble lately because I seem to get hungry all the time!

I got some of the Quaker Instant Oats Weight control oatmeal. It has a lot of fiber and protein in it, so it seem to curb my appetite better than most other foods. I had been eating the low sugar oatmeal (and it does have less calories), but the weight control oatmeal gets rid of the munchies better for me.

Anyway, just wanted to share my new find.

I have had two good days, and lately that is a BIG accomplishment. I do much better when I don't feel hunger, so I need something to get rid of that feeling for me.

Tara: How is Slim Fast, the new version. I saw that it has a new formula that is suppose to keep hunger away better (probably more fiber). Does it work?

Also, I got the new All Bran snack bars. Those are also high in fiber. They seem to be good, but I like the oatmeal better.

Debra

Kathy: I'm so sorry for your loss. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Well. I'm fighting the snack monster one hour at a time. I worked at my job Thursday and Friday. I have to have a snack ASAP after school or my blood sugar drops... :furious: <--that's me sans snack. But still, my choices are better. I eat two chicken sandwiches or two hot dogs (one snack, one dinner) and slices of banana (they are the ones used for the Banana Splits). Thursday I drank 5-18 ounce bottles of water at work. Friday I got in just three 18-ounce bottles but we were VERY VERY VERY busy.

My goal for this week is: to do more yoga (that's my exercise of the week), control the portion sizes, drink more water, and to add more variety in my food choices. Breakfast is usually good-it's usually scrambled eggs with ham and toast. Lunch is usually a'la'carte food or the school lunch. Dinner is always a wildcard. I think I might cook up some chicken today so I can have it for salads during the week. Snacks are better at work because most things you have to heat up in the microwave-that knocks down my tendency for nachos and chili dogs!

School is going well. I have to sell ads-it's after tax season. I am getting "no, but try again next year"s from all around. I will NOT give up. It's my semester exam. There are a couple places in town that I need to talk with but I can't get those until after the weekend.

Let's keep forging onward!

Kathy - I am very sorry for your families loss. We will be praying for some peace and wisdom for your family.

I again, know I have been very absent. I don't think I even have any excuses, except my family. Things are winding down at school. I finally told them I wasn't going to be sending my children back. Some people are shocked, probably because I was so involved with the school. Other's who are just involved as I, are not shocked, since they know the issues.

Well, my exerciseing has seemed to take a backseat to Ellissa's new paper route and to my DH needing the car to go to work. I get up at 4am to take Ellissa on her route, when we get home DH has to leave to get to work, so my gym time has gone capoohy. I'm in her only Tues and Thurs, until June, when the kids are done with school. I'm than going to ride my bike here and open up the gym at 6:30am, so I should get back into the swing of things than. I haven't had weight gain, only because I'm sticking to the Lean Cuisine and WW meals. Oh and I have also been pushing the lawn mower around.

So I vowing to get caught up on everything that has been going on here, and to become a frequent poster again.....

I need to see the scale starting making the downward slide again....

I did some good things today and some bad things today. I had a pretty good and healthy breakfast and lunch. I went to see a musical called BLAST at the Stranahan Theatre in Toledo. I cooked a bunch of chicken for salads. I got 5 min of exercise done!

The bad things (and they aren't even horrible): cheesecake and chips at BLAST (it was highway robbery-never again. plus it was yucky tasting. But I paid $8 for the kitten caboodle so I was going to finish it.) Dinner was at the Spaghetti Warehouse. Lots of bread was consumed, some spaghetti and cheesecake.

Newbie to 150 Club Chris checking in.

Been a bit since I've checked in I've been busy w/my sons spring sports schedules and trying to exercise more consistantly. I have joined a couch to 5K running class via our local Parks & Rec, it's been kicking my butt but I am not as sore as when I first started. I want to do the 2007 Disney Half Marathon.

My eating has been horrible... No weight loss on the scale reflects this, gotta get back to a handle on this again.

Chris

Good Morning, Ladies!

I took today as a vacation day from work to get alot of stuff done around the house and regroup around my eating and exercise. Of course Friday I came down with a terrible head cold  I am still fighting. I'm not getting as much done as I had hoped, but it's good to have the house to myself.

I'm down 2.5 pounds from last week. Unfortunately, I'm sure it's due to the cold. I'm stilling finishing TOM, so next Monday will be a more reliable account of how I'm doing. Some day, when I finally get to the 160s, I will let you know!

I'm too stuffed up to exercise (hopefully tomorrow), but my fridge is full of good stuff. DH stocked us up with watermelon, honeydew melon, apples, grapes, bananas, etc. Plus, our menu this week has at least two vegetables at every dinner. I need those to fill me up!

O.k.,I admit it! Who still has their Easter stuff out? I'm raising my hand very sheepishly. Today is the day it goes away. That means trips to the attic, but I'm just going to rest when I need to. A few trips up the stairs should burn a few calories! :rotfl:

Jen -- It is hard to get around snacking. I don't even try anymore, I just bring something with me. I always have a pack of raisins in my bag. They're quick, they're filling, and they don't need refrigeration! Try to think of some other things you could have with you -- apples, a whole banana, dates, etc. that you could eat quickly. I know it doesn't sound as appealing as the hot dog or chicken, but you could see a real reduction in calories by switching to fruit for just your snacks...then really enjoy your protein for dinner! :goodvibes

Chris -- The running class sounds great! Keep movin' and you will see losses! :Pinkbounc

Tracy -- Great to hear from you! It is very easy to get involved in living your life and not get back here, I do it all the time  We're here whenever you want to post. I bet once you start opening the gym, you will definitely see losses again! :)

Debra -- How is the oatmeal coming? I don't have a new fun food, I'm just getting back to fruits and vegetables. Oh! I take that back. The new baked Cheetos are pretty good. Of course most of the fat is gone, but they still are an o.k. substitute for me. They still have the same crunch... ;)

Kathy -- I hope you're doing o.k. with everything going on in your life. Just take a moment to breathe when you can. :grouphug:

Dona -- You are going to be able to use your alone time this summer to really focus on you, doing the things you enjoy and that make you happy. Look on it as a blessing that will allow you to really appreciate the rest of your family when they come home. I bet you have a few projects you would like to get to that you have been putting off. This is the perfect opportunity to really dig into something you have been wanting to do. :cloud9:

Tara -- I hope your cold is all better, and you had a wonderful time at the beach! :sunny:

Linda -- Are you recovered from your weekend yet? I know this is going to be one busy month for you, so try to take just a few minutes for yourself each day! :wizard:

O.k., everybody, have a great day, and let's Move in May!
Maria

Hello
I am so glad I have found this forum as it is nice to see that I am not alone. :goodvibes

At Christmas I got my body fat percentage done and became very scared when told it was 47%. So off to the gym I go with a trainer and nutritionist. They both have been wonderful. Unfortunately I haven't lost as much as we all wanted to but I have lost 4% body fat which I am very happy about. The one thing I have learn over the last 4 months is that your body will lose it eventually and you just to keep enjoying the little steps. I have also decided not to over do it as I did at the beginning as I got sick and have to stop for a couple of weeks to recoup.

So my hat is off to all that going for it and I am routing for you. :yay:

Hello, I would like to join in! This is my second week on ww and my first week I lost 4 lbs. I have about 18 lbs to loose to be at my required max weight of 150 lbs. The second week is soooo much easier! :goodvibes For some reason the I was always hungry the first week.

Today I went to the dr and he said that I should try ww, I said that's what I'm doing, he said well we all have a weight struggle and you need to get closer to your weight for your height. He looked at me like I was 200lbs over weight or something. I couldn't wait to leave because I could feel myself starting to tear up. By the time I got outside I cried all the way back to work. I had to pull it together by the time I came back to work. Now, I just feel like crap. I'm trying I really am. So, this is my commitment to loose the weight and not be judged as being too fat for my height.

A hearty :welcome: to Disney180 and Chipmunkfan!

This is a great place to get encouragement and advice.

Disneyfan -- It sounds as if you are off to a wonderful start. Every body is different, don't lose heart if it takes you a little longer. All of us here are struggling with that.

Chipmunkfan -- I hope your doctor was coming from a good place and trying to encourage you because he is worried about you. Two years ago at my gyno visit, my doctor told me she wanted me to lose 15 pounds. When I went this past year, I had lost 10, and she was very encouraging. It is a process, and you shouldn't expect it to happen overnight, especially if you want it to stay off. Be proud of your efforts at ww, and look forward to the successes that are sure to come your way. Don't let your doctor's seemingly negative attitude deter you. If anything, use it for motivation! I am determined to lose another 10 before my checkup in September, and just keep going from there! Just have small goals, preferably about behavior rather than a number on the scale. You can't control the scale, but you can control your exercise and eating. And don't try to do everything at once! Change one habit at a time, and you will have a much better chance of keeping your new, svelte self! Let's get to 150 together!

I'm smiling because I know we're all working hard today!
Maria

Hi Everyone!
Sorry I am not around much. I must admit, I haven't been good and well, I am hiding from all of you :rolleyes1 .

BUT......I have been watching Oprah today.....did you guys see it. Really made me think. What we eat has such a big effect on our health (and I think that just STINKS! :guilty: ), so I really need to get back to eating healthy foods.

I have had a stressful situation in my life (still do) that has been my excuse for eating, but we all have stress, and once this issue is resolved, I am sure there will be another and I need to stop making excuses.

Maria: The Oatmeal really does help with the hunger pains which, for me, is half the battle. If I feel hungry I do not do well. It is Quaker Weigh Control oatmeal and it has 23% of your fiber in one serving.

Welcome to all the Newbies! This is a great group!

I haven't been keeping up on the posts (sorry), but I am going to try to get more involved and more focused on being healthy.

Darn that Oprah! She always gets to me!

Debra

Eating has been alright.

On Saturday, I had to work. My mom brought up a chicken garden salad for me!!! Yay!

Today's eats:
2 Eggo Waffles with butter and syrup, one scrambled egg with deli ham (578 cals, thank you Fitday.com)

Baby burger, fries, and pineapple (261 cals, Fitday.com)

Chicken sandwich and 10 slices of bananana (389 cals, Fitday.com)

^^^Seeing the cals in a shredded chicken sandwich makes me feel sick. Those will not be what I will reach for when I need to snack anymore...   !!!

48 ounces of water.

I did get to play basketball a little today in gym. We also walked a mile.

Maria-good idea. I think I'm going to attempt to keep some 100-cal packs or fruits in my backpack...Thanks!!

Welcome new friends!

I'm off to start homework and to take a walk!!

Morning All!!

Ok we have got to stop this runaway train NOW!! All of us seem to be struggling on one level or another and the time has come to band together and move forward - :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Pick one goal for the week and stick to it..........

I am picking NO EATING AFTER 8PM!!!!!

What is yours?

Come on group let's get this train moving in a losing direction. TOGETHER WE CAN DO ANYTHING!!!!! :yay: :yay:

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Almost forgot - WELCOME TO OUR NEWBIES!!!!! WOO HOO!!! So glad you came - any motivating hints to share?

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

WELCOME NEW 150'ers!!!! :thumbsup2 It's GREAT to have you share your journey with us and shoot for the same goal! I see some of you on your tickers have trips coming up in the next months...what a GREAT way to reward yourself with a wonderful loss of extra bulge! We've got a trip in September and that gives me 4 solid months to get 30 pounds off...it's aggressive but I know I can do it!

Just returned from a short trip to the beach...wonderful...ate too much but also walked atleast 2 hours a day...and those walks on the sand really use different muscles I'm still soooo sore!

I start tennis lessons today with my kids...so hopefully that will also be another sport I can add in to help tone up this body! I'm going to commit to walking 3 miles every other day and try for a longer walk on the weekends...that should be manageable.

One of you was down about comments by the doctor...don't be discouraged...doctors get really really down because they consistently push lifestyle modifications only to have patients come back in worse the next year...I think sometimes their frustration is taken out on the new patient who is really geared up to make the changes but then feels like a failure when he/she lays it on thick. Just think of the disposition he/she will have when you come back in with 20+ pounds off!!! I remember my doctor when I got the first 60 pounds off...her eyes were just WOW!!! How did you do it???? It felt great! Now if I can just get these last 30 pounds off I"ll be kickin myself to the doctor! :)

Let's make May a YES month for losing weight...no "may'be's around here! :)

Stay strong, find that smile inside that comes from all other joys besides the bad foods! It's time to reward ourselves with good living and strong bodies!!! :)

Tara

Good Moring Losers,

Ok, So my 2 goals for this month are more more more water, I seemed to have fallen off the water wagon. And, I gotta get back to not eating after 8pm. NO if's and's or but's, no food shall pass by these lips after 8. Ok so now its said...

Welcome to the new 150 lb'ers. You have certainly come to the right place for support and inspiration...

I forgot to say, that I will be riding my bike when I open up the gym. We are down to 1 car. The van is still waiting for a new engine, we have to decide what we want to do. And, the old Honda, up and died one day when Dave was driving home. Luckily he was close to our house, so he wasn't too PO'd. We are going to donate it to the fire department he is on, so they can practice sawing cars apart. So that just leaves the Suburban. Here is where I'll tell you I hate these gas prices. DH is driving into Philadelphia everyday, and we are 45 miles north of Philly. So needless to say, our gas budget is rising. I wish he could take the train in, but he has so many tools to carry and he never nows from week to week where he'll be working.

Boy just writing all that, makes me want to snack.

Anyway, I gotta work at the gym today, so I'll listen to my disney podcast and walk for the 50 minutes that it is.

Good luck everyone with their goals for the day.

Good Afternoon!

Still recovering from my head cold, but feeling much, much better today. I think one more day, and hopefully I can get back on the TM.

My eating has been great, thanks to dh filling the house with good stuff.

B: raisin bran w/milk
S: banana
L: ham sandwich (diet bread), grapes
S: apple
D: ham and beans, honeydew melon

Tracy -- Riding your back to the gym is going to be great! You are going to be so fit, and feeling wonderful. I'm with you on the water :drinking: and 8 p.m. goals. My goal this month is 3x exercise every week. I'm off to a slow start because of my cold, but I can still make it this week!

Tara -- How were tennis lessons? I think that sounds like a fabulous way to have fun and burn calories! :jumping2:

Linda -- I'm on the caboose, but I made the train! Let's keep chuggin' along. :woohoo:

Jen -- Basketball is great exercise! You get to use muscles you probably have forgotten you have. :rotfl:

Debra -- C'mon back! We need you for inspiration! Seriously, I miss hearing from you and about your dds... :surfweb:

Kathy -- Are you off on another vacation?! I hope you are feeling better.

Dona -- Are you starting to think about fun things to do this summer? I envy you, I would love to have a summer off! :sunny:

May you Power Down Those Pounds!
