150 Club....Care to join??? Continued.

Me - 51 years old - Don't want to be fat all my life. Need to lose 75 pounds, but will be happy with 50. I have done South beach and WW and lost weight but gained it all back. I started watching what I eat 3 days ago and started taking Alli (no bad "side effects" yet). I have 220 days til my DD's wedding. I know I am expecting a lot, but I dream big :thumbsup2 . I'll keep checking in to see everyone's progress and posting mine. Good luck to all!

Hi everyone sorry but I have been super busy today! Hope everyone is doing great!

Melissa: I hope your sinuses get better. I have delt with those my whole life and they really sucks. I feel your pain! Hope you got a chance to walk in the warm weather!

kt_mom: Donuts are my downfall also. But just remember loosing the weight will be something to enjoy for a life time instead of the moment of satisfaction from eating a donut. :goodvibes

My Short term goal: Drink more water. I really, really hate water. This has been harder than anything else for me.

Long term goal: To be 150 before we go to Ireland!:)

Hope everyone is doing well! Let's keep loosing ladies!

Good Wednesday Morning (I almost wrote Tuesday where did the day go)

Yesterday was very busy. I left my house at 6:15 yesterday morning and didn't get home until 5:30. BUt I didn't have time to snack after school so that was a good thing.

I h ave been eating a light breakfast the last couple of days but it is not agreeing with my tea I have in the morning. Because of how light the breakfast is the caffeine in the tea really bothered me yesterday. I need to remember to have decaf tea or green tea. I also ate a better breakfast today.

Today I have a letter of recommendation to do and put my grades into the computer system so I better get moving.

Have a great day every one. I didn't walk this morning but it is supposed to be warm here this afternoon so I will do it then.

Good Morning! Thought I'd check in real quick before I head out to school. Hope everyone has a fabulous day today!!

diz4ever - Dream big and work hard you'll get there!!

Belle1230 - Thanks! The sinuses are much better today! Water is a tough one for lots of people. Some days I do better than others. You can do it!!

dona - Enjoy your walk this afternoon!

I'll check back in this afternoon!! Keep up the hard work those goals are just within our reach!

Good morning everyone!
I did it; I stayed away from the doughnuts. I did have a piece of the birthday cake though. But I don’t feel too bad. DD was at my mom’s until dance and it was beautiful when I got home from work so I took the dog for a long walk. It’s so much nicer to walk outside. And I can go so much farther without DD walking with me. I’m trying to just weigh on Friday’s but it’s too tempting. I weighed this morning and I was at 178.4 which is good. I’m hoping it will be down to 176 on Friday though.

Maria – good workout goals! I’m not doing anywhere near that much. I’m hoping to work up to a more intense workout.

Cobrabubbles- I think the water is having a big effect on my weight loss too. I would love to see 170 on my scale though. That’s awesome!

Carpenters – just keep up the hard work and it will pay off!

Melissa - Hope your sinuses are feeling better. I love walking outside too. It beats the treadmill anyday! ETA - you posted just ahead of me. Glad to hear you are feeling better!

Diz4ever- good luck with the Alli. Let me know how it works for you. We actually bought some about a year or so ago and tried it. I quit after a few days. I was too nervous about the side effects. But DH didn’t have any problems. He didn’t really lose anything either but he wasn’t really trying very hard. I think he’d like to try again but I didn’t want to spend the money not knowing if it would really work or not. I’d love to hear a success story.

Belle- you are so right. I feel no loss at not having that doughnut yesterday. It would just be a memory today. The water is hard for me too. I really miss my fizzy caffeinated sodas.

Dona – you are one busy lady. Keep trying to get in a good breakfast. It’s hard sometimes though. I don’t have time to eat until I get to work. But as soon as I get here I fix a bowl of oatmeal or cereal or something and eat it with my coffee.

Keep up the good work everyone! We can do it!

Hi all! My sister and her daughter just arrived last night. We all went for a walk this morning. We walked for almost 2 hours but the time went by so fast. My DD acted like a little mommy for my 1 year old niece. It was very cute. :)

My sister and I are going to have a nice healthy lunch and then try and do another walk this evening before dinner.

Melissa: Glad to here you are feeling better! This water thing is kicking my butt!!!

kt_mom: Glad you didn't give in to temptation yesterday! :thumbsup2

So far today I have drank 8oz of water. My goal is to drink at least 8 more oz today! Wish me luck!:goodvibes

We have had several new members join... lets have a roll call.....lets get to know each other so we can help keep everyone motivated!!!:woohoo: :cheer2: :yay:

CobraBubbles, I know what you mean about having a hubby who drops the pounds while it's tougher for you. My husband is doing a contest at work, so he's really working hard at dropping the pounds and while I'm glad he's successful, it's frustrating to see his efforts pay off while mine are coming around at a slower pace.

And he's already thin in my opinion. He has just gained a few pounds lately from snacking. I understand that, trying to get rid of love handles and all that, but apparently the weight just falls off him and I have to work...:lmao:

I brought myself a sandwich and some grapes to eat before the lunch so that I won't be hungry and eat a bunch of the fattening stuff everyone brought. And I plan to limit myself to one tiny piece of cake!

Good idea, I think that fruit really helps curb cravings and it's not bad to have a little something something once in a while, but good for you to have an attack plan!

CobraBubbles - what is it with guys? they just think about dropping weight and it happens while we work our behinds off. Taking into account everything you put in your mouth is a great way to lose weight - we eat so many things just out of habit - not really when we are hungry. Good luck!

I'm sure there are guys who have trouble, too, it just seems like it's so much easier for most of them. I am a big person who eats out of boredom, so I try to only eat if I'm hungry now (hungry NOT starving...) and if I do snack that's when I'm limiting the amount big time!

Me - 51 years old - Don't want to be fat all my life. Need to lose 75 pounds, but will be happy with 50. I have done South beach and WW and lost weight but gained it all back. Good luck! I know you can do it. 220 days is a lot, just don't get discouraged or deny yourself everything. Slow and steady wins the race! There are no setbacks just lessons to be learned.

My Short term goal: Drink more water. I really, really hate water. This has been harder than anything else for me.

Long term goal: To be 150 before we go to Ireland!:)
Cobrabubbles- I think the water is having a big effect on my weight loss

To Belle and Kt_mom and everyone else who hates water...I was the same. I used to have to take medicine when I was a child with a glass of water twice a day...the medicine would make me HORRIBLY nauseated. The effect was that I hated water...it made me feel nauseated to drink water. I had to get over it. I still don't like it. I will admit...I still don't like it. I don't add something to it to make it 'better' because it won't be better to me. Sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do. I force myself to drink it and it's bearable. It's easier if you are really thirsty (at first at least). Workouts seem like you need water.

This is the biggest way I think I've lost in the past...drinking water. I hate it and I hate to advocate it, but it does work...try it. It helps everything...you feel better and have a better complexion, and just it flushes out the bad stuff. If you can get off pop and other bad drinks...all the better...but I am not there yet. I was off pop at one time...went through horrible withdrawals for 3 days but then it was okay...after a few weeks pop tasted soooo sweet and didn't quench my thirst like water. I'm not there yet this time (fell off the wagon at WDW ironically).

Gooooooooooood luck all!

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

I did my 3.5 mi on the TM this morning, then I blew it by having mac and cheese in a restaurant for lunch. I am very irritated with myself. I have a sore throat, and it just sounded so good...I know, I need to invest in some Hall's! :rolleyes1

I was looking forward to my weigh in, now I'm dreading it. Tomorrow is my rest day, so no help there. I'm wondering if I can skip dinner tonight -- but I think I'll just be too hungry. We're having turkey burgers, so at least those aren't so bad...

CobraBubbles -- I am addicted to diet green tea. I know it's not as good for me as water, but it's better than soda and that's as far as I can go right now :lmao:

kt mom -- It took me a long time to get here. I started out at 1 mi, and just progressed -- and I had setbacks. It's is true, winners are losers who got up and gave it one more try! :thumbsup2

Dona -- I hope you had an awesome walk! :cool1:

Melissa -- So glad you're feeling better! :goodvibes

Belle -- What a fanastic goal! We have some friends who went to Ireland last summer for a month and they had a blast, I hear the pubs are amazing! popcorn::

diz4ever -- Weddings are so stressful! Just try to remember to take time for you, even with all the chaos! :scared:

Carpenters -- My dh is a skinny man. It's disturbing, but he can't help it. My SIL is a size 4 -- and she was devastated she had to buy a size 4 wedding dress, because she had always been a 2...:headache:

Could I ask a favor -- please take pity on my poor memory and sign your name in your posts at the end. I am trying to learn everyone's name, but the signatures don't show up in the Advanced mode, so if your name isn't there it's hard for me to remember. :flower3:

Thanks!
Maria :upsidedow

Okay, can I declare thread bankruptcy?? It has been a while since I have checked in and y'all have been busy!

Maria, nice to "see" you. Are you training for any races soon? I have committed to doing a 5K for breast cancer research in April, with a DIS friend of mine in NJ. Her mother has breast cancer. We met in Dec and so I am going to fly up there to do the race with her and help support her and her family through this difficult time in their lives.

I have been on track so far, since Feb 1. DH and I have kicked it up a notch this month, and are restricting both calories and carbs in an attempt to delete junk from our lives and stop reaching for quick/high calorie foods. Going low carb has made us have to cook a LOT more. We also have the restriction that the carbs we do take in have to come from natural foods, i.e. plant fiber or dairy products like cheese/eggs. My calorie max is 1200 a day and so far I have yet to exceed it. I am down more than 5 lbs in 10 days, so it is working!

Also, I have a hockey tournament this weekend and our first game is in an NHL arena!! Our local NHL team, the Carolina Hurricanes, donated the ice time to the women's hockey organization to which I belong. We are likely to get our butts kicked as we are the lowest level team, but it should still be a great time!

However, I have 4 games in 36 hours... 8:45PM Fri, 7:30AM and 7PM Sat, and 9:30AM Sunday. I have a feeling I will be DEAD by Sun night!!

Hope everyone is doing well!

-Kat

First of all, I don't think you should be beating yourself up for some mac and cheese. Call me the voice of carbs and fat. ;) I am a HUGE advocate of cheating on your diet.........just a little. Just so you don't go crazy. You've been doing so good....HECK 3.5 miles is amazing, and you should be proud and turkey burgers aren't bad!

Also, green tea is very good for you for lots of reasons so I don't think that's bad at all, though I still recommend trying water (work your way up to it..hee hee).

I'm going to do a 5k in June (I think it's June) for my town. I'm doing that couch to 5k thing but I'm pre-doing my own regimen of walking until it's warmer...so far I walk 1 mile a few times a week ... so nothing great... then I'll go up to 2 miles and so on. I'm that out of shape that I have to start slow..ha ha.

I am going to start training after the tournament this weekend (and the likely 2-4 days afterwards when getting up out of chair and walking is going to be painful as crap!).

I think I am going to try the couch25K program too, although I might start at week 3 or so according to some of my runner friends. I am in okay shape, but I have never run/walked any distance before.

I did take a walk on Saturday since it reached 70 here, and was able to do about 1.6 miles in 25 min or so.

Good morning everyone. It was a beautiful day yesterday. I never did get my walk unless you count the fire drill at the end of the day and the walk through the grocery store I had to do.

I did do something I have not been able to do. I walked over 10,000 steps yesterday. I have been wearing a pedometer for the last 4 weeks and this is the first time I hit 10,000. I hit 9000 a couple of weeks ago but never 10,000. I guess I was busier than I thought I was.

Have a great day everyone. Keep up the good work.

Hello Ladies! Hope everyone is having a great day so far! :goodvibes

My sister and I just got back from our 4 mile walk. We were talking about signing up for this big race in Atlanta. We were born in Atlanta and our Mom use to run the race every year until we moved to Denver. We have always wanted to do that race in honor of our mom. I am not sure about the details but if anyone knows please let me know!

As for me this water thing is kicking my rear. I love my diet coke!!! :yay:

Hope you guys have a great day! Keep up the good work ladies!!!! :cheer2:

Good Morning! I hope that everyone is off to a good day.

I ended up okay yesterday, or so I thought. I got my mile and half in on the treadmill again yesterday so that makes 3 days so far this week. I drank my water and only had one can of diet coke in the afternoon. I stayed pretty close to my calories yesterday too. So I thought all would be well but the scale said 180 today. Yesterday it was 178.4 which put me down six pounds total.

I know you are supposed to only weigh in once a week but I can't help it. I don't know where the fluctuation came from and it's dissapointing because I thought I was down but now I'm up. I know I didn't consume an additional 3000 calories between yesterday morning and today. I'm hoping it's a fluke and that when I weigh in tomorrow morning all will be well. I was hoping to be at about 176 or 177 so that next week I could try to hit 175 or under but now I guess I'd be happy with 178.

Kat - Good luck! I see that you play hockey, right? So yeah you'll be in decent shape I would think. I am not good at the running thing though, myself, and never have been. I played soccer in high school and that was about it, but still hated the running (not in the games, but just distance running). I'm starting slowly to get into it!!

Dona - Congrats on the 10,000 steps! I have a pedometer but it needs a battery. I'm curious to know how much I walk when I work, just to see (since I don't do exercise on work days usually)

Belle - You should do this race! I think it would be good for you. Keep trying on the water, but yeah, of course you won't ONLY drink water!

kt_mom - Don't get discouraged. It has to be water weight. Water weight is the only thing that fluctuates that much. As you pointed out (I do this too, though) you should only weight yourself one day a week! You are meeting your goals, do not get down, it's only a temporary gain!

--------------

As for me, yesterday everything went to crap it seemed. It was warm but it rained like crazy so I couldn't do my walk, couldn't get a lot of things I wanted to get done, done, actually. Then I was watching the Food Network (DO NOT WATCH THE FOOD NETWORK!!!!!) and Bobby Flay was having a chocolate throwdown and I made a chocolate cake. :sad2: I always watch the food network and then want to be a gourmet chef all of a sudden and have to make something from the ingredients I have...soooo....yeah. I only had a small slice but a step backwards...I never let it get me down, but for full disclosure I'm admitting it. I'll take my walk today though.

That is so funny. I'm the same way when I watch food network. It makes me want to go cook something fabulous right away. Especially the desserts!

It was beautiful here yesterday and I would have loved to walk outside again. But it was really windy and looked like it was going to rain at any minute so I figured it was better not to drag DD and the dog off down the road and risk getting stuck in the rain. I'm hoping to get outside tonight though.

Good Afternoon, DH is home today with bronchitis (glad mine was just a quick sinusitis) so I am trying to be as quiet as possible. It is a beautiful sunny day. Got a little side tracked this morning with breakfast but I am back on plan so far this afteroon.

Kt_mom - Be careful with the scale - that being said I weigh every morning. I weigh in once a week officially but use the daily morning weigh in as a guideline for the day. Water can cause those daily fluctuations and they usually even out by the offical weigh in. Does that make sense?

Hannah - maybe you could earn your diet coke by drinking all your water first. I use that trick some times.

dona - congrats on the 10,000 steps!! You are one busy lady!

Kat - you are going to be tired by Sunday! I think it is awesome that you play hockey! WTG!

Jen - I have to agree with you water is the key to weight loss. It does some amazing things for the body.

Maria - Ahhh! Comfort food! Sometimes you just gotta have it! Don't beat yourself up about it just get back on track. Hope you are feeling better soon!

OK, everybody tomorrow is Friday and Valentine's Day is Saturday...a bad holiday if you are watching your weight. I went to the grocery store earlier and was bombarded at the front door by candy, cakes, cookies, and chocolate. It really is hard. Fortunately, I haven't wanted any sweets for a couple of weeks now. We are planning a seafood grill out for our evening and a little dancing. Hope you all have a plan to resist the potholes! :rotfl:

I don't deprive myself on holidays...I just don't. Just trying not to eat all the days before and after is the key .. ha ha. I'm having grilled chicken breasts and shrimp scampi (tonight actually since I work tomorrow night and Valentine's Day). I'm trying to make a Red Lobster-esque meal (Dockside Shrimp & Chicken from way back). I'm going to try doing the buisquits and salad, too.

AND if DH gets me candy...I'm gonna eat it (come on baby, get me that 3 lb reese's heart!! :rotfl: ) Okay won't eat it all at once...

Happy early Valentine's Day all (since I'll be celebrating today!)

Jen

Good afternoon everyone! Glad to see everyone is trying to say on top of there goals this week. It is almost Friday and then the V-DAY events will start!

Melissa: Sounds like you have a good plan for your V-Day!!! Hope your DH is feeling better by V-Day! I have thought about doing the diet coke as a reward for drinking my water. I just get these cravings for it and it drives me insane!!!:scared1:

CobraBubbles: I agree. They key is to stay focused before and after the holiday. And besides you don't want to hurt your DHs feelings by not eating at least a little of the candy he bought for you. Moderation is the key! Hope your early V day is wonderful.:goodvibes

Well I hope to say on plan for the rest of the week and as far as my V-Day goes my sister is going to keep my DD while my DH and I go out for a romantic dinner on the water and then we are going to take a long stroll on the beach. It should be a nice night and all the walking will be romantic as well as good for my weight loss. :lovestruc

My sister and I are really considering doing the race in Atlanta. We haven't even been there for a visit in 10 years. Our family is pretty much spread out all over the place now! :)

I am happy to report that so far today I have drank 24oz of water. Which is ALOT for someone who use to NEVER drink water. I am working my way up!!!!! :cool1: :goodvibes

So is tomorrow everyones offical weigh in day??

Good morning! Just wanted to check in real quick. I'm off today and have lots of errands to run. Thankfully the water weight evened out today and I weighed in at 177.4 so I'm down another pound! I'm hoping to hit my goal of 175 by next week. I'll try to check back in later today or tomorrow to see how everyone is doing.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! keep up the good work!

Margaret
