That's how much the speeding ticket was that I got today!! Oh well, we live and learn. I was so po'd!! Hadn't had a ticket in 8 years. I won't take the points this time either. I'm going to one of the driving schools so I can maintain my clean driving record. So let's see what else happened....I went to work today for $14 in tips, my oil light came on in my Jetta and my check engine light is on once again. Just when things started looking up. I HAVE to remember, HE is in control....ALWAYS!!! Anyway, DH and I are staying with friends who won't ask us for any money while we are here. They have 4 children, they are 2 payments behind on their house note, 2 payments behind on their car payment and are really struggling paying bills and they still opened up the door to DH and I. Aren't they amazing friends. I HAVE to believe that GOD has a special blessing awaitiing them with eveyrhing they've done for DH and I. So anyway, DH and I have decided to give them $50 a week even with the position we are in. It's not much, but it's more than they have right now. So can I afford the speeding ticket...yes and no, DH and I don 't have any other bills besides car insurance, $170 bank payment, and gas. I am going to wait the 30 days before I pay the ticket. I can save and put about $50 a week into my account for 3 weeks til it's paid. I won't record the transaction in my account so I don't spend it.
DH and I are slowly getting back on our feet and still looking for a place to stay. One of the girls I work with told her mom what DH and I were going through trying to find a house and she(the mom) said she would finance for us instead of going through a bank. Isn't that cool? She's at 8% financing....for those of you who own homes, tell me what you think about that? I have to call her soon, so she doesn't think we're not interested. Just keep DH and I in your prayers please, they are greatly appreciated.
Well, I must get ready for church, I've got nursery tonight. I really would much rather be in the service this evening, but at least I'm at church.
I just wanted to check in with you guys and let you know how DH and I are doing. Hope to hear from some of you and I'll keep you posted as often as I see possible. Our friends have a computer, but I don't want to be on it late at night because it's in the boy's room and I don't want to keep them awake.

Do it again, and I'll give you 2 stern lessons young man.

Denise, it could've been a lot more. In one county near me, they charge up to $1000 for speeding (I've heard $1000 is for going 10 mph over!).

I don't know your situation - so pardon me if I sound a little harsh - but it seems to me that your friends are going to be looking for their OWN friends to stay with pretty soon if they continue to support 4 kids and two other adults. If you can afford to be looking to buy a house - at an outrageous rate of 8% - then I'd think you could help out these friends you're staying with at a little better then $50.00 a week. Do you both have jobs? How long have you stayed with them? You didn't mention food - I hope you're helping with the grocery bill in addition to the $50.00 a week.

I'm sorry if I've missed something about your situation besides what's in this post - but I'd hate to see your friends dig themselves in a hole because of their generosity.

Concerning the home loan, home loan rates have fallen to a 30+ year low and are about 5.65% right now. To me 8% is quite high and would make your house pmt equally high. Don't forget that you have to add homeowner's and flood insurance to that too. Don't forget flood!! Be careful of owner financed loans. If you miss a payment, they could bump you out of the house. Make sure you have your lawyer read and check out the contract!
