15 mo and 36 mo: 2 single strollers or 1 double stroller?

We're headed to WDW in October. We'll have DH and myself, 2 teens, and 2 toddlers (15 months old and 36 months old). I'm trying to figure out if we should take our Combi Twin Savvy side-by-side double stroller, or maybe 2 single strollers (2 Peg Perego P3s).

We anticipate splitting up quite a bit from the teens, but DH and I will generally be together at the parks. We're staying at Shades of Green and will rent a car. Planning to drive to most parks, except for maybe Magic Kingdom. All time at WDW except for a one-day trip to Busch Gardens.

I was all set to take the double stroller, but the kids are getting to the point of bothering each other. I'm sure it's only going to get worse from here . . . by the time DD-2 is old enough to "behave" most of the time, DS will be in full mischief mode. :lmao: So all of a sudden the idea of taking two separate strollers is looking like a good one.

For those of you who have children roughly the same age, which option do you recommend and why?

Thanks in advance!!

I would lean towards 2 strollers. Even though you mentioned you and DH would mostly stay together having 2 strollers gives you the option of letting you split up if you so choose. And like you said the fighting. My DD's turned 5 and 3 in March and they spend most of their free time arguing with each other. They drive each other (and me) crazy just sitting together in the backseat of the car. I'm sure they would do bodily harm to each other in a double stroller ::yes::

I'd also vote for the 2 singles. My 2 kids are 15 months apart and they started fighting like crazy in the double when the youngest one was about 2. And it only got worse. I finally just started only bringing a single on outings and making one of them walk. Or if my husband was with us we'd bring 2 strollers. We always brought 2 to Disney and it was great. Also if you have 2 teenagers that's 2 more sets of hands to help push the strollers or carry them.

I would think a 1 year old toddler and a 3 year old preschooler would have different levels of napping/ride experiences, etc, so would also go with the 2 single strollers. That way, if the little one is napping, one adult can go on a nice walk around the park (I used to love to do that!) while the others continue to do attractions.

When we went on our first family WDW trip, DD was 3 and DS was 15 mos. Instead of our double stroller, we took two reclining umbrella strollers. It worked out great. DS could nap in his stroller without DD bothering him, we could split up if we wanted to, etc. We continued to bring those two umbrella strollers on the next few trips, until they didn't need strollers anymore.

Have fun!

Two strollers worked out so much better for us this trip. We were able to manuever around the parks easier, no fighting or waking the other up, and the best part of all was how much easier it was to get on and off the buses (last year we had the Graco DuoGlider, otherwise known as the devil:lmao: ).

Good luck and have fun!

when our kids were 11 months and 31 months, we took a double, and it was fine... but when we went a few months ago when they were 20 months and 3ys 4 months, we took two singles, and that worked out fine too... the singles were a lot easier to maneuver in the parks and on the monorail, trams, etc...

have fun!

We went round and round on this ourselves last fall. At the time of our trip our children were 34 months and 5 months old.

In the end we decided to take the double stroller. I'm so glad we chose to take only one stroller instead of two. The biggest plus for only taking one, you can take turns pushing it instead of both always having to push. Plus, our DS spent lots of time walking instead of riding anyway. (We would have been pushing and empty stroller around, and that would have made me mad.)

(We kept running into a couple at AK that had 2 strollers to push around and neither one of them looked too happy on the long treks between attractions.)

We had a Monkey backpack/harness for DS to wear so he could walk without getting away from us. He loved the freedom, we loved the control. It was a win-win-win situation for all of us. (DD had the stroller to herself most of the time without DS bothering her.)

2 singles, absolutely! With 4 adults (teens qualify for this purpose) available for pushing, dividing the load is a good thing, plus it keeps the little ones from "messing" with each other. It also gives you the option of parking one stroller outside a crowded area and having the 3 year old walk for short periods so you're only fighting a crowd with one stroller instead of two.
