14 Happy Meals? Really?

If you have to stop and make a point of thinking about those around you, yes, it's a pain.

Some of us, though, think about those around us naturally and it doesn't take any special concerted effort.

They should by all means be "considerate" and go with whatever is fastest lest someone who is working their have to work or other consumers have to wait a moment too long while the order is placed/paid for.

After all as the paying customer your feelings, wants and needs are not important..only those of the people behind you and the workers and their time limits.

I get what BobNC is saying. When I'm in a line, whether at MCD's or the bank or whatever, and if what I'm doing is going to potentially hold up the line significantly then I'm aware of that and I do what I can to mitigate inconveniencing others. If I have a bunch of change to deposit or a large cash or complicated transaction I go inside. If I'm picking up a dozen lunches for the gang, I go inside. At the grocery store I make sure I have 15 items or less before getting in that line. I make sure the clothes I am buying have tags or prices before I get to the register so nobody has to wait for a price check.

If I'm just ordering a big mac and a coke, I'm not thinking about anyone else.

I try to think in terms of how I would feel if I were stuck behind me. It's probably because I worked in retail in my youth and customers tend to suck...so I try not to be that butthead customer some poor cashier has to deal with. Sometimes I am that butthead, but most of the time I'm not.

If you are going to order 14 happy meals, yes 14, with special orders ( no onions on 2 of them, no mustard on 2 of them, no pickles etc etc) PLEASE GO INSIDE NOT IN THE DRIVE THROUGH. It was the most bizarre thing I have ever seen. Some of this person's questions after ordering 14 happy meals:
"Do you have french fries"
Uh yea
"Do you have grilled chicken sandwiches?"
Yep
"Can I get grilled chicken sandwiches?"
Yes, how many would you like

that was about all I could stand before getting out of there as the drive thru line grew and grew. If it is your first time at McDonalds, and you are ordering enough for a million people, please go inside.




Guess who I was behind today while trying to get my large diet coke. Ended up stopping at the gas station instead.

I only read the first page of posts. I worked for McDonald's for 9 years and was a Manager when I left. As the posters implied, the drive thru is for anyone who wants to use it. We didn't care how big (or small) the order was. Now, if the order was not ready when you got to the pick up window (as this was probably not ready due to the special ordering) we would have you park in the parking lot and bring it out to you. That way, the person still didn't have to get out of the car and the line was not held up for others.

I know how frustrating it can be. As another poster said, it would be just as frustrating if you were standing behind them inside.

I am a church going, law abiding, doting Grandmother recently retired from the business world. I have NEVER thought about the people in back of me at ANY drive-thru NEVER, EVER!!! Do I need to repent?

If you give zero thought to how your actions might affect others, even the simple action of going to a fast food restaurant, I think that is pretty sad. I also think it is likely that if you give zero thought in this situation, it is likely that you give zero thought in other situations.

It's this type of behavior that has made society go down hill.

It is a drive-thru at a fast food restaurant not the express check out line at a grocery store where the person has a cart load of items.

Recently, on two separate occasions at two different McD's, I did have to order that many Happy Meals. I went inside , and the manager had someone carry the box out to my vehicle although I did come in prepared to do it myself. Brought in my really large Costco shopping bags.
