My daughter's troop (Older Girls, age 14+) wants to do the Disney YES program for 5 - 7 days in 2009. I'm looking at on-site accommodations, too, but want to know what off-site group accommodations options might be. There are 13 girls in the troop plus 2 leaders plus probably 3-4 other chaperones. (Total under 20).

All realistic recommendations are welcome! Thanks in advance.

You might consider staying off site in a villa.

Thanks for the thread! (no wonder I had no views until yours, dougsmom) The drawback comments are similar to my concerns but the troop leader had this idea that a villa would be cheaper overall. In looking at Windsor Hills website (the only villas I've heard of), it seemed as though we'd have to rent 2 houses to accommodate our numbers versus 3/4 girls per hotel room. Wouldn't this be MORE expensive?

For those with larger families who've gone the villa route - what is the realistic number of people per room? 2? 3? 4? Are there other home sites I should be looking at?

I'm used to planning Disney trips, but never for this many people. I do know a couple of travel agents (one is a great AAA agent) but I'm not sure that going that route would gain us anything for such a small group.

Thanks.
Patricia

The number of people per room depends on the beds -most homes will have kings queens or full plus twins so you need to know whether your girls wish to share beds.Homes are also licensed as regards numbers -generally 2 per bedroom plus 2 -if the owners have sleeper sofa or put you up beds-not all do.

If you do the 'send me quotes' thing on whrent.com, you'll get emails (lots) directly from the owners, with their rates, photos, how many they sleep, etc.
I do think you'd need two houses at least. I still think it'd be cheaper than 5 hotel rooms. And much nicer. You might find an owner with next door houses that are available on your dates, who knows? It seems to me like $75-$100/night is pretty common, per house, in off-season.

Here is a sight that has side by side homes. You will need at the least 2 homes. I think it will be a great place to come after a long day in the parks because you can be together as a group there is a lot of common area that you can all be together but not sitting on beds and such.
