14 Day Hold on rooms?

I saw info on the Universal website saying that my deposit must be paid within 14 days (if I'm staying more than 14 days from the booking date). Is that true? Trying to book through the website requires immediate payment of the deposit.

How can I book my rooms with a 14 day hold?

If you book direct with UO you have to pay 1 nt's deposit to hold your ressie. The only way to avoid this is to book thru AAA's website. They ask for a cc # but they don't charge your card.

If you call the hotel directly you can hold the room till the deposit is due. Once it becomes due if the deposit has not reached them the room cancels. I did it this way once but I dont believe it was a 14 day grace period but I cant say for sure. Some people pay by check and that is the main reason for doing it that way.
