Any change in speech patterns or language ability should be reported to the doc because it can indicate some other issue. With all your DD's health problems lately, I would definitely mention it.

This was my first thought, too, perhaps it is a neorological event? C.Ann, I remember reading of some of the difficulties you've had lately with your DD, although I can't recall the specifics. If I were you I'd give the doc a call today to run it by him/her.

I would quick sneak a call off to the office and tell them. I wonder if she will do it there and if he sees her often enough to notice.

It is a bit odd, DD does that to me but she is 6. It drives me up the wall! (I finally made her put money in a jar each time she said it) Good luck, it would put me over the edge to have an adult do that!

C.Ann - we cross posted...can you get a hold of her on a cell phone and ask her to mention it to the doctor? Or if not can you call the office and ask that it be brought to the dotor's attention during her appointment?

Is she taking a new prescription? Sometimes that could be an issue, specially if she taking other prescriptions.

I also vote to telling her dr.! What is the latest on her? I do hope she's feeling better.

:grouphug:

I have been wondering how she's progressing and hoping for an update.

Could it possibly be her new meds? Would she object to you calling her dr? :confused3

Sending continued good wishes for all your family. :flower3:

C.Ann i'm glad to here things are looking like they are tracking in the right direction.

Yes have her bring this up to the Docs but it seems like She is replacing the YaKnow instead of pausing to catchup to her thoughts. many of us do this with a pause or umm or other words . She may have just started this out of hearing it during her thought process and it just stuck.

Just keep on keeping an eye out for changes in behavure as you are the best to know of any.

My Brother in law...age 49 does the same thing..everyother word is 'Ya no"?...I can't carry a conversation with him at all. When my Dh gets off the phone with him he starts doing the same thing....and lasts for a few days....than we grab onto it:rolleyes2

If she has been watching alot of TV ...on alot of the shows mostly the reality shows you will here that phrase being repeated over and over again....

I'ts like Valley girls using the term..."Like " for everyother word...I'ts like warm out side..like 9o degrees, and like I can't wait to get outside...Ya know....

I dont think it's medical ...thats my Nursing opinion..however as the OP mentioned ...it would not hurt to have the change put into her medical file.

TV was my first thought too since she's been off work lately.

another phrase is "and em" From a college teacher he said kids today cant stand dead air. They dont like to have any empty space in between words. Its just a filler to sometimes keep people from interupting them.

DD is home now, ya know.. She actually remembered, ya know, to mention this issue, ya know, to her doctor, ya know? :lmao:

He could not come up with an explanation..

Now where did I put my roll of duct tape??? :crazy2:

Ya know, I find this very odd.

:rotfl2:

Could it be one of her regular nurses or someone she sees often?

:lmao: ..Sorry to laugh. I am just picturing the two of you conversing. The good thing is, if the doc had no explanation, then is is not serious:thumbsup2 Maybe she can replace it with LIKE...

Good luck getting over this one.;)
