Today on my day off from school....I have to go to the dentist.

I hate the dentist. Any one else hate him/her?

I have a cool dentist. It is all Star Trek and Star Wars themed. He has like a huge collection of unopened toys and signed pictures and posters and the like hanging on the walls. And when you have your teeth worked on you can watch a movie from the tv which is hanging from the ceiling. Last time I was there I got to see part of Men in Black.

I hate the dentist because I get stuck watching Garfield or something ( I guess we just got signed up for the not-kids-dentist, ) followed by either a Jack Russel Tarrier who talks about brushing teeth or a monkey dressed as a Tooth Fairy talking about how important your teeth are. /vomit.

I used to love the dentist. That is until my mom decided i needed to get my teeth drilled....

Oh, and want to hear a fun dentist story???

I went to the dentist with my four year old brother. I had to get four teeth drilled and he had to get his teeth just checked up on. they gave me a needle in my mouth without even telling me (btw im the BIGGEST baby with needles) and i got all four teeth drilled and IT HURT LIKE HECK!!! my brother didnt even open his mouth and he got two toys. i got squat. i wasn't expecting a toy, but they didnt even give me one of those oral health bags!! :| luckily, i got pay back because in 2006 he had to get his tooth pulled

Moral is: NEVER GET YOUR TEETH DRILLED. even w/ novacaine(aka the numbing medecine, sleepy juice, etc.), you can still feel it!

funny, i just got my braces off the 4th of january

just some tips of advice, when they do the molding for your teeth, lean foward. i always gag when they do the mold because it almost goes down your throat.
and when you get braces for the first time, ask your parent/guardian if you can go for milkshakes. the coldness of the milkshake helps with the pain. if they dont want you to, suck on an ice cube or something cold. Take an Advil before you get them on because it helps with throbbing. you might not be able to eat alot in the beginning because the braces pull at your teeth, but after the first few visits you get used to it. who knows, ive heard of cases from my friends where it didnt hurt at all.

Sorry if this scares you or something, but im just being honest and giving tips on how to pull through it

wb at least you didnt have a random novacaine needle in your mouth! my friend "bluesavannah" was in the room with me when it happened. she said i looked at her like "what?" because she made a weird-kinda-scared face LOL

Heh, I'm 23 and still can't stand going to the dentist, In fact, I have to go next Wednesday morning for a cleaning and check up. Joy.

Moral is: NEVER GET YOUR TEETH DRILLED. even w/ novacaine(aka the numbing medecine, sleepy juice, etc.), you can still feel it!

Two things:
1. If you have a cavity and don't get it drilled out and filled, it can eventually abscess and you could wind up having a root canal and then a cap put on your tooth. Never happened to me thankfully, but it can happen. A filling is a lot better than a root canal!

2. At least in my state, they can't use novacaine (sp?) any longer as it was deemed too strong. Nonetheless, whatever they use now works about as well I'd say. However, if you get a needle and you feel them drilling and it hurts: wave your hand at the dentist. You should NEVER feel pain while having a tooth drilled! Sounds like your dentist didn't wait long enough before drilling; for me it has usually taken about 7 minutes after my dentist gives me a needle before I feel numb and then he starts drilling. I've only had a problem with pain once. Hurts afterwards, yes, but not during the filling.

If you ever have to get a filling again, tell your dentist beforehand it hurt last time when he drilled, and hopefully he'll wait longer for you to get number.

Omg I remember that a kid I knew had a cavity and did not even know it
his mom showed the class the tooth that had the cavity and it looked like t rotted along with another tooth

The dentist isn't THAT bad. I mean, think of the alternative...your teeth rot in their place and fall out or you're in a lot of pain. I've had an absessed tooth before and it started hurting on a Friday night. I had to wait until Monday to get it pulled. The pain was so horrible I couldn't sleep and even Vicodon didn't help my pain. I was thankful to see that dentist.

Now I'm waiting to go again because I'm broke but my one tooth chipped 1/4 of the way off. If I'm not careful how I eat, food gets in there and feels like someone took a pick and jabbed it into my gums.

With the not enough novacaine thing...ask for more!! Seriously, whenever I could feel it, I simply spoke up or tapped them and said, I need more, I can feel it. They don't want you in pain believe it or not. They rather give you another shot and tack it onto your bill than have you wincing and crying the entire time. Don't be scared of your dentist. They're people too.

i hate the dentist but yet, i get my revenge being able to sink my sharp claws (nails ) into his arm. Just because of the pain :evildemon: he uses this toothpaste ( i call it Vomitgoo) and it is BAD
