I "fired" him and told him exactly why. I found a new doctor who is wonderful. Takes the time to listen to me and whats going on. I know ER docs are a whole different ball game but with a good PCP, she could circumvent that with a call put in to him or her as soon as she either A. knew she was heading to the ER or B. as soon as she got there.I've read your other thread about this too. It would tick me off to no end. I'm kind of in the same boat. I take meds for Panic/Anxiety attacks. That seems to be all my doctor (PCP) could focus on...obviously any other complaint I came in with HAD to stem from my Anxiety issues. What a butt.I "fired" him and told him exactly why. I think you live close to me don't you? Lots of hospitals to choose from.
Good luck to her.
People should NOT be black-listed because they take meds for depression and/or anxiety..
-----------------------------------
Her PCP (who she officially "fired" the other day) is every bit as bad as the ER doctors.. Everything she has ever had - or will have in the future - is due to "depression".. Shoot - even her injuries from her car accident last March were tagged as "depression related".. Let's see - cervical sprain and 2 ruptured disks - among other things.. Yup - I know TONS of people who have received the same type of injuries from a car accident, so obviously they are ALL "depressed"..
There's got to be SOME way we can put an end to this nonsense - I'm just not sure how..People should NOT be black-listed because they take meds for depression and/or anxiety..

Complications from the lumbar puncture..![]()
When she woke up today she had the worst headache ever - with pain shooting up and down the entire length of her spine, to the point where she was vomiting.. Called the ER and they said to call 911 - she was having complications from the lumbar puncture..
We get to the hospital and the ER doctor (different one than the one she saw the other night) starts his crap right away when he saw she takes meds for depression.. He wanted to know "why" she was back again and when I told him the ER instructed me to bring her in by ambulance because it was complications from the LP he had the freakin' nerve to say, "The ER told you ALL that??" And then had the nerve to laugh - like I made this up out of the clear blue sky.. (Yeah - we just LOVE spending 12+ hours in the ER - it's a real hoot..) I wanted to slap him across the room, but instead I just very clamly told him I didn't like his attitude, he obviously was interested in nothing but the fact that DD is being treated for depression and I wanted someone from neurology IMMEDIATELY.. Guess he knew I meant business, because in 20 minutes a neurologist arrived.. He was very pleasant; did a thorough examination; said that he was fairly certain that she had a leakage that would require hydration and a blood patch and he would order something for the pain immediately.. He also said that he was going to order an MRI because he had some concerns about the prior headache and wanted to rule out the possibility of anything going on in her brain.. He strongly advised that she be admitted and the ONLY time he mentioned her meds for depression was to be sure he had the correct dosages and the times that she needs them so they could be administered properly..
So - my son-in-law is with her now and I'm back here waiting for the other grandparents to bring my DGD home..
Were it not for the possibility of drug interactions, I would strongly advise my DD to NEVER tell ANY doctor that she is (or has been) treated for depression.. I guess people who suffer from depression never "really" get sick - it's all in their heads..![]()
I am on meds for depression and have been for many years. I went to my gyno once because I was having really horrible pelvic pain and she told me (before examining me) that sometimes when women feel like they're not getting enough attention they make up symptoms. Um, no....I don't really enjoy paying a dr. for 'made up' symptoms.I'm sorry to hear that.I am on meds for depression and have been for many years. At the same time, it was very difficult for her to progress in her mental health treatment when she was in major pain from PHYSICAL ailments that the Drs. refused to test for or believe were there. We finally found a great physician who worked with her mental health drs. and mom had the surgery she needed for a slipped disk in her back and had a hysterectomy and begain improving in all kinds of ways.
Hugs to you and your DD.
to you all!
