Headaches, fever and a rash could be meningitis- I would go to the emergency room ASAP!

I know exactly what you mean. I was diagnosed with depression in 1991 and now everytime something happens to me, they say "well, you DO have severe depression..."

Drives me crazier than I already am.;)

Even if I die of a heart attack, my cause of death will probably be listed as "Complications of severe depressive disorder".

Because the doctor is not a good one.

Believe me....I wasn't even diagnosed with depression and my GP told me that I needed to drink water and take anxiety pills.
I even saw a GASTRO who did an awful test and nothing.:confused3
I really did believe I was having panic attacks....

However...moved to Texas, went and saw a diff. doc...she did my tests....God bless her.....

I HAVE ACID REFLUX!!!!!!!!:sad2:

So in short....my conclusion is that they are not good.:lmao:

I once went to a doctor to try and find out why I'm always tired on weekday mornings, but I'm fine on the weekends. She immediately said, "You're depressed, you hate your job" and put me on meds. After a year of those - along with the sudden onset of hypertension, for which I needed yet ANOTHER pill, a 30-pound weight gain, and charging up my credit card to $1800 because "la-la-la, life is so awesome, I don't care, I'll pay it eventually," but still being tired in the mornings - I decided to see some psychiatrists for evaluation. Guess what? I wasn't clinically depressed at all. I'm just not a morning person. So I got off the meds; my hypertension then went away, I lost weight, and paid off my CC bill. That was several years ago. I still show no signs of clinical depression.

Lucinda Bassett's program is amazing! It's chaning my life. maybe she should look into that.

I am so sorry about your DD!

I have had PPD and the only time it is an issue is for health inquiries for life insurance.

I am on Zoloft right now b/c depression was developing during the pregnancy. I am just thankful I had an OB who listened and just didn't blame it on hormones.

In any case--her docs are idiots.

You might want to think about changing doctors. I have a medical condition that my old doctor blamed for every sickness I had. I finally switched doctors. My current doctor knows what's in my chart and doesn't blame the problems I have on it. If anything, when I'm dealing with an upper respitory infection, it's because of my hay fever with the post nasal drip. My previous doctor would have blamed my medical condition for being the cause.

You don't have to havea history of depression!

When I was going through a series of recurrent, low-grade sinus infections, I could have gotten prozac easier than an antibiotic! (And yes, it was the sinuses, once they got treated, the problem disappeared.)

Tell your dd to wait until she's 40. After that, everything is treated by "well, you know you're getting older..."

Really? I always hear her ads and think "yeah, right".;)

How much does it cost? What issues did you have before starting the program? I'm really curious. If you want, you can PM me.:)

Actually, in that case, it will probably be listed as "panic attack" ;) .

I have been having some heart symptoms recently and was asked by the guy at the check in desk at the ER when I was having chest pains and shortness of breath if I ever had a panic attack. I told him, "Yes, and so I know what they feel like, AND THIS IS NOT IT!"

C. Ann, I think she needs a new doctor. I think it is laziness on a doctor's part to attribute everything to depression. If my doctor did that, I'd be finding a new one quite quickly.

And this attitude by doctors is the reason that millions of people are on antidepressants that they don't need. It's "easier" to blame the patient than to do the testing required. I can't tell you how many people I've talked to that have had horrible reactions to AD's, when their problem was a physical one. Sadly, some have died.(a brain tumor diagnosed as anxiety)

How on earth does a doctor get to the point that they blame a 101 degree fever on "depression"? Give me a break...

I have no history of depression (in fact people comment on how I am always happy and never moody) and when I first came down with symptoms (later diagnosed as autoimmune connective tissue disease) I was offered by one dr. (who spent 5 minutes with me) a choice of Prozac, Paxil or Zoloft. I politely declined and never went back to her.

Hope your dd finds a dr. who will help her.

I had a neighbor, also was told depression. It was not, it was very serious. I feel it's real important she finds another doctor. Good luck.

I used to be such a 'good' girl, doctors were always correct & if I strongly felt they weren't I'd just never utter a word. Well..in the late '70's, when I'd been tired & dragging for weeks, I finally got an appointment with my GP, who couldn't be bothered to even give me a proper physical
While patiently wading through a doctor's patronizing prattle, "You'll need to have your therapist increase your meds..."
I responded, "You know Dr, depression has been a blessing in disguise, I am never physically ill any longer!";)
I went to another Dr, I had mono! I made sure the first GP got a copy of those results! And needless to say, never went back
