13 year Cicadas - listen to them

those of you that want them, i wish you'd come to alabama and get them! they've been driving us crazy for a month now-we're surrounded on 3 sides by woods, and the buzzing is SO loud, you can hear it inside my house with the TV and ceiling fans on! I HATE THEM.

We just got back from Athens AL and the cicadas were everywhere.

I live near Nashville and I have had enough of the Cicadas. I thought they were bad last week but I encountered several huge swarms today. One store I went to today must have had hundreds and hundreds hanging on the brick front. You couldn't even dodge them to get to the door. I just had to walk thru those flying around while swatting at them. I know they don't bite but I don't want them hanging on my clothes or in my hair. Uck! I understand being nostalgic for the sound but it is something else dealing with this huge number that we have around here. Let's just hope that this week is the peak or I am not leaving the house.

On this trip we went to The Hermitage and at times, the guides had to let the cicada noise die down so they could be heard!

I heard cicadas for the first time a few years ago. I was in Philadelphia at my brother in laws family's house and we were outside and I thought it was the neighbors automatic sprinklers, but then they said it was the cicadas. I'm so glad I never saw one!
